Packer fan here:

The Redskins are a tough team to judge. Sure they've been "hot", but is that because of a weak schedule and beating up on some of the NFL's worst defenses of late, or because they are playing great football. I'd assume a little of both.

Nevertheless, the Packers are solid vs the pass and have an extremely underrated defense. While their offense makes the 49ers look like the 2000 Rams, if they commit to the ground game they can sneak out some points vs the Skins D.

Ultimately, I think the Packers have the better defense, and the better quarterback, and that usually wins in the post-season. Packers 20 - Skins 17

I really like Aaron Rodgers & he can help a team but there's nothing he can do when the rest of the team, not just the offense, is not doing well

My point exactly!

welcome to the site Kurt - I hope we see a good game .... if it's 20 - 17 in the 4th, I think you'll see why we're so up on our QB ...

all the best - the Packers are a very well run franchise - we're getting there

On paper I believe the Redskins should win but I am not confident they will. Using an old cliche as it relates to Rogers - Great QBs know how to win, regardless.

Welcome to the site…We could say the same about the Packers, throw out the win against the Vikings and you have to go back to week three to find a team with a winning record that the Packers beat. Good teams beat inferior teams, something the Redskins have done better than the Packers over the second half of the season. I think we can all agree you’d rather be playing better in December than September. Hard to believe that we would be favored over the mighty Pack!! We understand that this is a handicapped Packers team (so are we by the way) that doesn’t have all their weapons, but we make no apologies for that and neither should the Packers. We like our chances this week, in the games I’ve seen lately the Packers have had trouble protecting Rodgers, and our pass rush has shown up over that same period. I agree your D is better than advertised, which is why I do believe we need to have some semblance of a running game. The area that worries me most is coaching; you definitely have an advantage there, and I see some coaching decisions playing a part in the outcome of this game. There’s always somebody that shows up big in these games that you don’t expect too…My feeling is… that player is on our side…Skins 25 Pack 23

None of this matters to me, at this time. I have no expectations. We are playing with house money from this point forward... everything good that happens is just gravy! I love it.

that's a great post DEHog - I do respect the intangibles that favor the Packers and I do respect their playoff history
the coaching aspect is a bit of a worry but our coaching staff are responsible for what we've been seeing on the field - I'm sure they will respond

we are like kids in the candy store here but I think that this group has shown recently that they all believe in each other and while it is the mighty Green Bay Packers, these guys really are playing with confidence and we have not seen much of that out of the Packers recently

I'm sure our players will be anxious but I think we have 'the force' with us at just the right time

I'm still just very happy that we're playing in this game - we really cannot lose

wait until next year used to be a plea - now it's got a whole new meaning to Redskins fans

Not to nitpick, but Rodgers' play and the level of his play hasn't really been the issue with that team. His receivers and his offensive line have been decimated this year. Just doesn't have the players he did in past years to put up those kinds of numbers.

As far as playoff experience, I think that's just more about not being rattled and not being overwhelmed in such a big game. I'm sure it will help him play his best under the pressure and maybe its an advantage over our QB. But its not going to make his offensive line block any better. :D

Exactly. It's not that Rodgers is not playing well, or not the QB he once was, it's the team around him that's lacking.

I'll go with that - the Green Bay Packers aura and Aaron Rodgers mere presence is the reason the Redskins are not favored by more

I'm not very confident that we'll win but I would be surprised if we are not still in this game at the end unlike the last time we played - that has as much to do with how we are playing right now and how the Packers have been playing as anything

I think my two biggest concerns with this game are:

1) Rodgers comes out and is able to attack our secondary deep. The Eagles came out and did that in their first drive two weeks ago and were scary effective with it. Best thing the Packers could do in this game IMO is to be aggressive like that.

2) Quality defense from the Packers that we shouldn't underestimate. We're not able to get the type of early offense going like we've done the past few weeks. Is our D able to keep us in a game like that?

Not really worried about this. One of the reasons he has struggled is that he has no one who can beat coverage deep... as a result, he has had to make money in the middle of the field... BUT... teams started taking that away... essentially, taking Rogers out of the game. His receivers are serviceable, but unable to create space... he often has no one to throw to... I'm more concerned that we will struggle to defend against Lacy. If Lacy gets going, we need to be more careful about defending the box... making play action work.

I don't see a shoot out. If we can generate offense, I think we will win. If we cannot move the ball, and can contain Lacy, I think it's a toss-up. If Lacy gets going, Rogers becomes effective, and THEY win.

As someone that has watched all of the Packer games this year, and for many years beforehand, it is clear Rodgers is having a sub-par year. I know the Aikman/Buck/Collinsworth/MSM will always pin blame on the WR's and O-line (rightly so in most cases), but Rodgers is just not himself this year. His accuracy is down, he looks uncomfortable in the pocket, and he's making poor decisions (throwing red-zone INT's the past couple weeks, something you never saw of him in the past). He will always get sacked a good amount, it's more his game to hold the ball too long vs throwing it too early and causing a turnover, but this year even that seems extreme, his pocket feel seems gone, ultimately his confidence has disappeared.

IMO, 2 things have hurt the Packers this year 1) lack of speed and talent at the WR position and 2) stubbornness in their offensive game plan. They just don't have any big play makers in the receiving game, they are really just a group of possession WRs (with mediocre hands to top it off). Coaching-wise, and just the Packers in general, they struggle to admit failure and hold themselves accountable, they are stubborn. They just haven't adjusted to what defenses are doing to them this year. In the past no one dared play Cover 0/1 vs GB, it was always a Cover 2/3, this year everyone is bringing safeties in the box, bringing heavy blitzes on 3rd, the exact opposite of what happened in the past, but McCarthy/Clements never adjusted or got creative to counter that.

I haven't seen enough of the Skins this year to know much about their defense, but you can expect they will their SS in the box most of the game, they will play man press on the edge and they will bring linebackers on the blitz in any passing down. At least that is what they should do.

Sorry for the long rant. :)

Good luck Sunday. Go Pack Go!

There's no way I'm counting out the Packers...not as long as Rodgers is at the helm...that said, all this garbage about the Packers "turning it on" is just that...don't you think if they were able to "turn it on", they would have by now...the packers have been playing poorly for the last half of the season, I just don't see them being able to find the switch this Sunday...

Hey there! Your favorite Cowboy fan (myself) is back this week, saying: GO REDSKINS!!! Sincerely.

I live in Packer country (my brother-in-law is a season ticket holder) and the only team I like better than Dallas is the team playing the Pack. And that's you guys! So bring your "A" game and crack that Moron Rodgers' skull and give him the Discount Double Choke.

Best to you all!

I heard it might be EXTREMELY WINDY during the game - gusts up to 45 mph.

Whom does that help/hurt more ??

Prolly helps Green Bay... their passing game is trash right now anyway... and the wind will make our passing game trash.

the weather is not affecting the outcome - we just have to keep playing at the level we've been playing and they need to raise the level they've been playing at - the wind does not help their passing game either - this is our game to lose and we're playing well

Hello all! Packer fan here. It's not often our two teams face off each other which makes this a hard game for me to gauge. You guys have really impressed me this year, and sadly my Pack have done nothing but dissapoint down the stretch especially on offense.

Our passing game has been broken since the first month of the year and while the players sound confident they can turn things around I'm not so sure. I'm interested to hear what you guys feel about your pass defense? If Rodgers can get hot, that changes everything.

We're currently beat up pretty well, and if Bakhtiari our LT is out again you guys should be able to put Rodgers under constant duress.

Given our passing games struggles I'm picking:

Bad guys: 24
Packers: 10

Here's to a good game and may the victor take it all the way to Santa Clara! :)

No doubt the Packers will feel they can pass against us, we have a depleted secondary with a converted WR playing corner and a converted corner playing safety. If you look at our stats they will say the same, but they don’t tell the whole story. We use the victory formation in our last three games, which means a lot of garbage time yards for opposing QB’s, hence Kellen Moore’s 435 yards. That aside our secondary has been opportunistic…Add to that the pressure we’ve been able to get on the QB. I think that will be key this week, we can’t allow Rodgers the time to sit back there and pick us a part, which he will if he has time, I don’t care who your receivers are. If I’m the Packers my biggest concern is with protecting Rodgers. That said I like our chances…Good Luck!!

We haven't held anyone to 10 points this year with the exception of the Rams (and Miami minus the late PR for TD), so I don't think we'll do it to the Pack. That being said, we generally play a lot better defensively at home than on the road, which is probably a big reason for our splits this year in record. The Pack is struggling big time, but our secondary is not very good. Rogers puts up som points, but Kirk stays hot, and the running game returns also. Skins take this one 24-17

When both teams from the NFC North are bounced from the playoffs this weekend, it would be nice to hear the talking heads acknowledge the NFC East isn't the trash they've said it was.

Packers 17
Redskins 28
