I wish they had! They're much better passing in those short yardage situations than running.

i think it would have been a great call at that point, if we hit it...game over. Either way I liked the call by Gruden to go for it.

It was a perfect situation for a naked bootleg... and it would have worked... the Ginas had sold out.

#47 sighting? Oh, it's Dunbar, not Cooley. This kid is a former WR but man, is he making strides as a DB.

Blackmon had a johnny-on-the-spot INT. But he also got "burned" 2x for both TDs. Did he get juked or was it just great plays for the Gnats.

I missed the 4th qtr...how did the Midgets all of a sudden score 2 TDs when they hadn't been able to do crap offensively before that? Did the Skins go to a prevent D or something?

That first TD was definitely a burn and kind of inexcusable on 4th and 16 or whatever. Hard to fault him though for the ODB second touchdown. That was just ridiculous.

That was a humanly impossible catch... just wow...

Obviously I don't know but I have a feeling he felt the ball was not wiped down/dried with the towel ... :?

He said he'd complained about it to the refs two plays earlier when he nearly fumbled the wet ball. I think that was the part that he was angry about. That they didn't do anything about it.

I missed him talking about after the game... I thought the complaint was that it was a "kicking ball"?

I'm also super glad that the sure pic 6 was dropped by Canartie-Rodgers.. that woulda been a SUCKY game changer, dodged a bullet there

Yeah that's what the radio guys were saying about the kicking ball. But the explanation I wrote above is what Kirk said. Here's how he explained it:

“No. I actually told them, one or two plays before we ran an inside play to Alfred [Morris] and the ball slipped out of my hand on that one, too, and Alfred had to double clutch it in order to get it or otherwise we would have had a fumble there. The ball was coming up, and I think, I think it was wet from just the grass, and where I was getting it with my left hand was the wet spot, and my thumb was slipping. It happened on that play. I told the ref whatever we can do to keep it as dry as possible, but I understand part of it is playing on a wet ground. And then, two plays later I believe it was, on the fourth down, the same exact thing happened. I got the ball, and the part where my thumb was, it was very wet and it slipped right out of my hand. I went to the ref and just explained, but he said there’s nothing we can do once it’s on the ground. So it’s just unfortunate.”

Huge. I really hate that route btw. Wrote about it on Sunday, but Cousins has been picked off several times on that play.

People have made a big deal about dodging that bullet, but to be fair, didn't we drop about two other INTs from Eli that game too? I know there was a Breeland drop and kind of a weird one in the end zone too. Or maybe those were the same play.

It appeared to me that it was going to be another bootleg. I wonder if they were going back to Reed to try to pick up the first down (although I'd have to check the play to see if Reed was in on that play).

Not sure it was 6. It looked like he stepped out. Still, my heart skipped a beat. How many times does Kirk have to throw that pass to a defender before we stop running that play?

Exactly. Seems like corners are constantly jumping that one. Maybe I'm totally wrong about that, but I'd be curious to know how many times that play was successful v. the number of times it was picked off.

That play and like Kirk on a busted play trying to force a short throw in the middle. Must account for half+ of his INTs.

The problem with that play, in my opinion, is that the receiver doesn't sell that he's going anywhere, allowing the corner to sit on the route and jump it. It's a play I'd like to see removed from the playbook.

I was there live. No way that was a "sure" pick 6.

BOTH of our first two picks could have been returned for 6 had Blackmon/Riley not fallen/slipped. At the very least we would have been in the red zone.

Yes. During the broadcast, the halftime jokers (Strahan in particular) seemed to want to stress than Cousins had gotten lucky and Eli unlucky. Too bad it was one of only a couple of bad throws for Cousins, and Eli had 3-4 more that either were or easily could have been picked.

Eli has thrown 9 picks this season to Kirk's 10. Eli has fumbled 6 times to Kirk's 3. But why let that get in the way of the lazy narrative...?

There are nine starters in the league with more interceptions than Cousins and five starters with only one fewer interception. But, as you said, why let facts ruin a good fairy tale ...

Wouldnt it make sense to fake that play, and hit something over the top when Kirk pump fakes the db to try and jump it and get the int, then punish him for jumping it?

Its so weird that Cousins throws interceptions. I never see any other quarterbacks in the league do that. What is wrong with that guy?

Imagine how short Favre's career would have been if he threw interceptions! :-"

you guys are funny - It's not that he throws interceptions or is turnover prone that is the issue - it's that he plays like it concerns him - Brett Favre never let an interception bother him anymore than a good CB let's a TD stop him from being aggressive

Kirk is improving in how he plays and he may even lose the turnover prone reputation if he can keep keep getting better at not doing that

another opportunity to play well at home and in the national spotlight this Monday - good luck Kirk, we need this win
