Mike Shanny is happy for Cousins.

Same guy that said he would stake his reputation on Beck and Grossman. Mikes opinion means nothing as far as I'm concerned.

But that was when he was the head coach, and they were his QB's.
He's not affiliated with the team anymore. I don't see why he would go out of his way to put over Cousins if he didn't truly believe it.

Sarcasm?
Mike has a big ego and Mike made it clear before he left that he believed in Kirk over Griffin.
So when he sees Kirk named as the starter of course he's going to jump all over it.
He doesn't care If he's apart of this team or not. He just wants to be proven right.
So if Kirk succeeds Mike looks good. Problem is at this point who really knows if he will succeed.
A lot of people in sports believe that the Redskins don't have a starting QB on there roster.
I for one at this point have to agree. Not a single team out in the NFL would pickup and start any of our QBS if they were released tomorrow.
Re: Cousins Named 2015 Starter
there is no way for Mike Shanahan to "look good" to this franchise
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I agree, but he doesn't care about the Skins.
He cares about everyone else.
If Kirk succeeds Mike will say I told you so and pretty much blame his exit on Griffin.
He's pretty much made the point on how much he believes in Kirk over Griffin already.
Kirk being named starter gets him close to saying I told you so.
He's dieing to say I told you so.

I hope we have a better year because of this decision and it sticks.

For sure in Scott we trust, but I was hoping to not see another year of this stupid drama. If RGIII was out, why pick up his ridiculous option? Oh, and BTW, Troy Aikman needs to shut his mouth, stupid Cowgirl.

Because at the time, he was not out, and the option is only guaranteed against injury at the start of the 2016 season. What did Troy say?

I'll say it again - many here are making way too much of this situation ...
the best thing is that it certainly appears as if the management of the franchise is in different hands than it has been and the HC is doing and saying what he thinks is best for his coaches and his players ...
there will always be a bunch of fans and members of the media that will dissect every little thing and use it to suit their own agenda
this franchise is undergoing some changes that have been needed for some time and I'm sure the product on the field will be much improved as a result but that is not happening overnight ...
Griffin was given a lot of support and encouragement & now the same is true of Cousins - hopefully Cousins can respond & help the offense
Gruden and the rest of the guys here are trying to do the best they can with what they have and I'm sure they will continue to that
they know a lot more about what they've got with all of these players and they will do what's in the best interest of this franchise
I'm sure that Gruden is trying to keep his job here just like all of the players are
stop with the bashing - try looking at the good side of this - we need all the help we can get

Yea I would agree, to me it's good news and indicates that SM is in charge!! I'll add that I'm sure SM told Gruden he is on trial here as well, and I'm sure Gruden made it a point to let it be known that he shouldn't be hancuffed by management while be evaluated by the GM.

Looking at this objectively (as if it were another team), would you say that is inaccurate?
The critism this team receives is well deserved. They need to start handling things correctly and professionally. Like the concussion protocol --- they messed it up. When I mess up, I say I did, provide no excuses, and make sure it doesn't happen again. Our franchise is more concerned with pointing fingers --- similarly to our idiot politicians...... which I would consider as dysfunction.
We have the worst owner in sports. Dysfunction starts at the top. It has been here since the minute Danny boy was declared the owner.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

Re: Cousins Named 2015 Starter
Kirk Cousins is only receiving this opportunity because they've finally determined Robert Griffin III is not their quarterback of the future and Colt McCoy is a career journeyman due at least in part to marginal arm strength. In other words, they have no more appealing options. Expect all three to be elsewhere next season. Expect another top five draft selection. Expect another reach on a quarterback. Just don't expect another mortgaging of the future for one. Scot McCloughan isn't stupid, even if the Scherff pick is making him look bad. I'm not buying the song and dance about how well Kirk performed in meaningless preseason games or about how they reached a team decision that Cousins gives them the best chance to win games. We're going to need a bigger shovel for all the manure the team is piling up on that one. They simply need to know if Kirk is worth keeping beyond this season. They know RGIII isn't. He isn't even worth keeping this season unless he can play tight end.

I'm confidant that, in the long run, the Scherff pick won't look bad at all. I'd be willing to wager that people will look back favorably at that pick.

Re: Cousins Named 2015 Starter
Bomani Jones (tool) has been ranting about this on twitter for the past two days. Hinting around that there's a race issue involved. One second says Cousins isn't better, but then says Cousins very well may be a great QB one day. Why is this guy still employed by ESPN?

Now the Skins need to cut Griffin and let him find another team with an offense that fits his talents. The Skins could sign an emergency QB to the practice squad.
Re: Cousins Named 2015 Starter
what the Redskins need to do is to figure out how to stop looking so inept and start winning some football games ...
it will be amazing how all this other stuff will seem so unimportant ...
why is getting rid of Griffin suddenly so important to everyone; maybe they're afraid that he might be needed again
