No. The injury has to be something that prevents him from passing a physical almost a year from now. If RGIII really is benched for the year, the Skins will get that money back.

They will spend the money. The question is, will they spend it on Griff? If he is healthy in a few weeks and never plays another down for us, we only owe him this year's money.

Question: Players sometimes insure themselves against injury. Russell Wilson did before re-signing his big deal. Do (can) owners insure themselves against player injury? For instance, if Wilson breaks his back on opening day, Seattle is on the hook for tens of millions. They'd get cap relief (I think) but the money would be owed to Wilson.

Why? Don't you want Cousins to succeed? He remains the last bastion of hope for this QB "carousel". We know what McCoy is. We know Griffin is done. Cousins is the last remaining "hope" that we have a decent QB on the roster who can help us win some games, or at the very least manage the game and still get the W.

I do want Cousins to play great this season but I don't think he's a starting NFL QB - at least, he has not shown it yet

I also think McCoy can help this franchise but I doubt that he's a starting caliber QB

there are many who think that Griffin is a lot better QB than some of the fans here ... and they're a lot more knowledgeable

Based on the following article there seems to be a good case for cutting RG3 sooner than later. Anyone have knowledge of either the Steve McNair or Daunte Culpepper case?

Griffin needs to be so badly injured that he cannot pass a physical before next season ... is that so hard to understand

that is a highly unlikely event

Did you read the article? Why did 2 other teams bench the QB when they were physically ready to play?

No! I am not in the least bit concerned about the possibility of Griffin getting himself injured to the extent that he may not pass a physical in '16

Griffin is very aware that Cousins has been named the starting QB because, in the coach's estimation, he is the best QB on the roster at this time and that has nothing to do with the possibility of Griffin getting injured to the extent that he might not pass a physical next year - get real

there are a lot of fans (and the media) that are trying to make up and exaggerate as much about this as they can

Yeah, those other QBs were held out for the current season, not a year out. And they were under the old CBA, so the rules were different.

I have yet to hear one single local guy (like Keim, or C00ley even) who has said that this was the wrong move to bench Griffin. They are all pretty much advocating cutting him.

I'd be hard pressed to find a single "knowledgeable" source who has voiced that opinion in recent weeks much less "many". But to be fair, there are rumors out there that Chip Kelly likes him.

Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report reports the Eagles are one of three teams who could be interested in Griffin if Washington releases him. The other two teams mentioned by Freeman: the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys. Here's what Freeman had to say.

"The most important thing you need to know about Robert Griffin III — it’s THE thing — the most important thing is that there are a lot of teams interested in him. They don’t necessarily want to trade for him. They want to see if Washington cuts him. And if they cut him, you will see teams go after him. And from what I hear from around the league, teams around the league, look for three big teams to emerge if that happens. [...] The second team, Philadelphia Eagles. Chip Kelly thinks he can make any quarterback into Joe Montana. [Philadelphia] is a natural fit there as well."

No way would he wind up in Philly. There's no way in hell he beats out a healthy Bradford or Sanchez, so why would either Kelly want him, and why would Griffin go there? The Chiefs are the only fit I see for Griffin at this point.

Keim's take:

Griffin's camp was not as good as it was made out to be.

They don't have to fork over the $6.7 Million it would cost to cut RGIII. We only have to eat $3.4 Million in prorated signing bonuses if he is traded.

Please stop. Bob gave a lot to this organization. Not everything that transpired was his fault. He deserves more respect from the fan base than this.

its not his fault ..... so his foot work not his fault .... his not being able to read a defense not his fault .... not getting the ball out of his hands on time not his fault ..... fumbling the ball not his fault .... running his mouth and saying stupid statements not his fault .... should i go on ...... the only thing this organization didn't do for bob is build a solid oline to protect him ..... one good year out of him .... now he is in a true NFL offense and looks confused and doesn't deserve to be the starter here ..... he might go somewhere else and be a stater if they cater to what he does well .... a pocket passer he is not.

Dude, re-read my post. We all know he isn't where we want him to be as a QB. He is no longer the starter. There is no reason to keep piling on. Please just stop. It is getting really tiresome.

Right on, man. That kid went all out for this team and the fans. Put his body on the line constantly, especially in 2012, not to mention his insane effort to get back on the field after the ACL injury. Give him some respect. We don't need to be a bunch of d***s about it.

RGIII is still wearing the Washington Redskins uniform which makes him a Redskin now and forever. There's a laundry list of players who took more and gave less, starting with some 350+ pound $100 million defensive tackle who shall remain nameless who had to be scraped up off the field after any play in which he was required to move laterally more than one step. Someone has an unusual definition of "forever."
