Reading the defense and anticipating the pressure will effectively block the defensive line. So in a way, yes. RGIII was in there with some of the 2's... The offense looked totally diff when Colt got in there. That's not a coincidence.

Never happy to see a guy get hurt but it was inevitable... You know that right? LOL Really... Or was RGIII gonna play 16 games and be the best QB in the NFL this year? LOL

We need to end the RG experiment! He has no vision, cannot read the D, and looks absolutely inept!

Congrats to the running backs and the defense! O Line you have a lot to improve on. BUT McCoy did just fine with the same O Line. How do you figure that?

Some of you are so accustomed to horrible protection, being redskins fans and all, that it doesn't even register anymore when you see it.

The protection is horrible, but we're watching the other 2 QB's deal with it and complete passes. I'm watching Kirk slide and use the defensive players momentum against them.

Not against first stringers. Most teams are bereft of pass rushing depth.

RGIII was in there with the same squad the Colt was in with. A mix of 1's and 2's.

Aside from that, pocket awareness transcends whatever group you're playing with. Kirk may be playing against scrubs but he's also playing WITH scrubs. The key is that he can operate the offense.

Per Kevin Sheehan - "Griffin's 3 sacks on 2nd&11, 2nd&12, & 3rd&16. He can't dropback & throw in bad down/distance...Gruden should know that by now. "

This team is in trouble if RGIII is the QB on week 1.

I get that Kirk is playing with 3rd stringers, but do people want him to look like complete garbage? Shouldn't he look good, and shouldn't we be pleased with this result?

Go back and watch the first couple series with a timer. I'm not even an rg3 fanboy like some on here. I'm not worried about qb, they all stink. I'm concerned with the fact that the protection in the first few series was as bad as you will see in an NFL game

Its not shocking the Kirk looks good, he was the best QB last year. He just threw too many INT's and got down on himself. He's clearly the best QB on the roster. Sadly... But it is what it is.

I did this.

Not all of the sacks/hits were on the o-line. Especially that fumble that happened on Griffin's last possession. He had a dump off wide open. Didn't pull the trigger, and decided to scramble. Mind boggling.

You are aware that he didn't even begin the season as a starter last year and still acquired the league lead in ints at one point? Because of what? Protection.

A. You obviously didn't.
B. I said the first two series, not the third

I'm legitimately curious...is there anyone on here who thinks McCoy should be the backup over Cousins?

You're also aware that he threw more TD passes than McCoy and Griffin combined last year?

And despite that, he's still a better QB than RGIII... If you can sit here and say that RGIII operates this offense better than Kirk or Colt, there's nothing else for us to discuss.

The LAST thing you want to do is compare stats between RGIII and Kirk, lmao. That will be debate suicide.

Just loved seeing McCoy show what he can do - we all know what a good back up QB Cousins is ... McCoy is a keeper as well

hopefully they let McCoy and Cousins play QB in the next game and rest Griffin - he took a beating tonight

No, this will be an ongoing thing until this Griffin debacle is finally over and done with.

Prefacing with the fact that the protection was bad tonight, there will still be continued blame to be thrown around (Gruden, most likely) as to why Griffin looked awful tonight. Yes, it was sub par o-line play, but something isn't quite right watching him run this offense. It's obvious to anyone with eyes. And it's not solely protection.

Listening to Gruden now... He doesn't seem like he believes what he's saying.

Redskins beat reporters stated minutes ago that RGIII doesn't have a concussion. Gruden said he does. Seems like they're keeping him away from the media. He's going to get destroyed next week.

He has to play, RGIII cannot afford to go the next 2 weeks without playing. Gruen is going to lose this team if he trots RGIII out week 1 without having done a damn thing this preseason. Unless he pulls a Joe Gibbs and yanks RGIII like Joe yanked Ramsey lol.

There's a ridiculous amount of Kirk man love in here. I like Kirk myself. But he did struggle behind this line as well last year. Rg3 took sacks, cousins threw picks. Either way, neither of them had time, and the start of this game was an indicator that things haven't improved up front.
