People need to do some research. There are a number of players who belong on every list.
Sam Baugh... STILL holds the NFL record for season punt average. Could also be on anyone's list at QB AND Safety, as well. Any list which does not include him in at least one of those positions is a joke!
Darryl Green
Charley Taylor
Cliff Battles
Sam Huff
Lenny Haus
Bobby Mitchell
Larry Brown
Jerry Smith
Sonny Jurgensen
Kenny Houston
Chris Hanburger
John Riggins
Art Monk
Dave Butz
Joe Jacoby
Jim Lachey
Joe Theisman
Paul Krauss
Mike Bragg
Clint Didier
Brian Mitchell
Mike Nelms
Greatest Redskins NAME... Joe Don Looney

Countertrey, you are right, Sammy holds career punt record, but you have to remember--that was in the era of quick kicks. There was no one back to fair catch and stop the roll. It would roll on and on. Also, I don't believe Sammy invented the bullet pass, if you look at old films, he rerely even planted before throwing. He "slung" the pass. Hence the nickname. Don't get me wrong, Sammy was great. Jurgensen was better, particularly in the modern game.
Curveball, I picked Bobby Mitchell in 2 posts!!! Also, Paul Krause did spend more time with Minnesota. He still had 3 great years with the skins, and I believe he had like 20 interceptions in those years. (Wow, what a mistake we made trading him for Marlin McKeever (sp?). Hey, I can pick Krause if some are already picking Portis, who hasn't even played a down as a Redskin. Someone also picked Deacon Jones, who while a great player, was well past his prime for his single season as a Redskin.
Isn't this what makes all this great!!

You know, that's an excellent point, genuswine... OTOH (and, please, keep in mind, Sonny is my all time FAVORITE Redskin), Sammy played 3 ways. And, could you imagine Sonny (the consumate "athlete"... NOT!) attempting a punt, wwether 3rd down, 4th down, fall down or ANY other kind of down?
Sammy Baugh revolutionized the quarterback position. He belongs on that list.

You're right Countertrey, Sammy needs to be somewhere in the mix. You are also right about Sonny, hell, he couldn't get out of the pocket if he had to. but it was sure a pretty pass wasn't it?
Half the time in the later years you would swear he didn't shake the hangover off until halftime (remember the gut?). He and Billy would be tossing a few on Saturday night and Billy would be pulled over on the GW parkway on the way home. Jeez, the memories.
Did I mention I was Sonny's paperboy?

I have been reading this thread and must say it is great to see some names that go back more than 20 years, heck more than 50 for some.
Keep it up old-timers (and I am one of you), don't let the Redskins of old fade from the new generations memory.
Did anyone mention Diron Talbert?
