I feel like we've known that for a long time. I'm like you though, really believed when Shanahan and Allen came in that Snyder was going to be hands off the football decisions. That has clearly not been the case. It seems like all he has done is kept a low profile about it.
Its very frustrating.
Some are slower on the uptake as others....
Danny boy is incapable of being hands off. And now that everyone finally understands that he IS the ROOT of the problem and, more importantly, that his "desire" to win/spend idiotic amounts of $$$ (which in turn, was one of the reason we were hit with cap penalties) isn't a true asset since it is coupled with a complete lack of football intelligence and inability to manage.
Personally, I never believed Danny went hands off. His ego wouldn't allow it. The one (and perhaps only) thing Danny boy is VERY good at is marketing. After the Cerrato debacle he knew what was necessary to rebrand HIMSELF --- and that was to hire someone like Schott, in an effort to make it appear as if he had changed and learned from prior mistakes. He was essentially pulling the wool over the fans eyes --- and all the while our ignorant fan base unaware of Danny boy's insecuritites and ego was loving him for it.
Currently from Danny's perspective, the thing he values more than anything in this world is tarnished --- his reputation. And I can guarantee that he feels the only way to rehabilitate it is by orchastrating a comeback by his
own doing. That is why he'll never sell. Meanwhile, his own stupidity blinds him from true NFL reality ---> fans don't care who the architect is behind a winning team. Because when you win, EVERYONE is deemed successful, not just one person. If he weren't so insecure, he'd understand this. If he had even an ounce of humility he'd understand the tremendous amount of talent, work, desire, and sacrafice it takes to win in the NFL. And that he is personally not talented enough to accomplish the goals his "clients" are requesting...... before they change "firms".
Danny boy was raised with a silver spoon in his mouth, unaware of what it truly takes to succeed when you aren't given every advantage available against your competition. In the poker-table of life, Danny boy has always started at the table holding the chip lead --- chips that were given to him (or in the redskin-purchase case, lent); not ones he earned himself. The only problem is that in the NFL --- everyone is given the same amount of chips. He is now required to compete on level ground --- and it shows.
But alas, Danny boy's ego will forever continue to get in the way. His delusion of NFL success will persist in the face of decades of proof to the contrary. You want proof????? Just read his F---ing bio:
