The way Gruden's been talking in his pressers, it wouldn't shock me in the least.

Yeah I guess not. It wouldn't be shocking in the least for the first year head coach to bench the second pick in the draft whom we spent three first round picks on to acquire. lol.

Gruden: "We have total faith that Robert [Griffin III] can bounce back and make some throws and get us a win."

Really looking forward to seeing RGIII (and the rest of the team) bounce back against the 49ers next weekend. oooof.

That wasn't the guy Gruden drafted, though. If Gruden doesn't think he's "his guy", he should be benched. You can't honestly say that if he comes out looking like yesterday against the 49ers, you'd want to stick with him. I want to win games, not evaluate whether or not he's a franchise quarterback.

I'm not saying that at all. I'm not even saying I think he should start v. the 49ers. I'm saying it would be a shocking move.

If Rob stinks up the joint against the 49ers, he should be benched and I'll give Gruden a lot of respect if he has the guts to make that change. The team sucks right now, but I still like Gruden a lot more than I like RG3.

Gruden gets a pass from me this year and should get a couple seasons and a couple drafts to see what he can put together. RG is morphing into an expensive Jason Campbell.

Sorry, I misread your post.

On another note, how good are the 49ers on defense?

I didn't hear his presser...... but I will (I only read it). BUT even from reading it, he came off as "yeah, this team has faith in me still".... WHAT?

What are you smoking Bob Marley? Give him the clipboard and put in McCoy...!!!

Pretty bad presser, IMO. He started out saying the right things, but then quickly started his "we" instead of "I" crap again.

I have a prediction that one of two things will happen:

1) Robert will play really well next year (during his contract year, mind you), and we'll re-sign him to a fat contract and continue to ride the RG3 train.

2) Robert won't progress next year, and after being released by the 'Skins, he'll go to another team and find success with them.

If history repeats itself, then one of these two scenarios should be the future for Robert.

Robert won't be here next year...he's a bust!

If he's not here next year, he will definitely have been a huge, epic bust. And the odds don't look good right now.

Love the "fans" though who seem to be actively hoping for this. Yay! You were right! clap clap clap.

You know what's really sad? The anti-RGIII guys disappeared until this week. Now the "pro-RGIII" guys are silenced.

Kudos to those who've continued to post here no matter who the QB was.

I'm like most here in that it's not at all encouraging that after a week off the team and especially Griffin looked so flat

it's not looking good but there's still time and this kid is not just another football player - he'll figure it out and Gruden will make sure of it

rf - you really need to go to the 'friends or foes' button and then you don't have to read some of the stupid, mindless posts

I personally don't think any of them are the man for the job, but I especially think RG3 isn't...it's just gonna be tougher for many to accept this reality because of all the hype surrounding him...

Are you serious? What exactly has he shown since 2012 to make you believe he's not just another football player? You do realize which quaterbacks have the worst winning percentage in years 2 and 3 are (minimum of 10 starts)?

Blaine Gabbert: 1-12 .077%
Tyler Thigpen: 1-10 .091%
Robert Griffin III: 4-13 .235%
Brady Quinn: 3-9 .250%
Charlie Frye: 4-10 .286%
JaMarcus Russell: 7-17 .292%

And that's counting the Jacksonville game as a win for Griffin. He's pretty much approaching JaMarcus Russell territory. If you're comfortable with Griffin's company on that list, by all means go for it.

You are off by a year. Robert Is in year three of and 1st rounder's contract under the new CBA. Assuming we exercise his 5th year option, next year will not be his contract year, 2016 will.

He is quite comfortable. I gotta give SkinsJock credit. He carries RG3's cross better than anyone I have ever seen- online or off.

I would LOVE for Griffin to have evolved into a star. But, he's not. He peaked in that offensive scheme designed by Kyle Shanahan that was basically Baylor-NFL-Style. It was impressive while he managed to dodge injury bullets. One was going to hit the target sooner or later. Now, he is resigned to a traditional NFL offense and he can't deliver. It sucks for all the reasons we have covered, but to continue to believe "he'll figure it out and become the QB the team needs" is more than I can offer. He was a great QB in that Baylor-style gimmick offense, so long as he didn't get injured. I knew when they hired Jay Gruden that Griffin's days were numbered.

I'm a bit confused with some people's theories. They don't want to draft a QB because it will set the franchise back years and years, but they're ok with sticking with a QB who is still very much below average in terms of a pro style offense and trying to develop him? What's the difference?

The difference is manyfold.

1. Bob has all of the tools, rocket arm, acuracy (this can't be overrated), and brains. Mechanics can be fixed.
2. Getting a new QB only starts the process all over again, and there's no guarantee that the next guy will fare any better.
3. Instead of wasting more seasons and draft picks trying to find and train somebody new while neglecting the real issue (the line), why not invest those in getting respectable protection for him to let him use his talents.

Use the picks on non-skill positions. If Bob does ultimately fail, and I doubt he would given real protection, then it would be much easier to plug in his replacement and/or develop a young player behind a new set of hogs.

Jay Gruden wrote:His footwork was below average. He took three-step drops when he should have taken five. He took a one-step drop when he should have taken three, on a couple occasions, and that can’t happen. He stepped up when he didn’t have to step up and stepped into pressure. He read the wrong side of the field a couple times. So from his basic performance just critiquing Robert it was not even close to being good enough to what we expect from the quarterback position.

Deadskins wrote:2. Getting a new QB only starts the process all over again, and there's no guarantee that the next guy will fare any better.

We're in year three and we still have people saying this is his first year. What's the difference?
Deadskins wrote:3. Instead of wasting more seasons and draft picks trying to find and train somebody new while neglecting the real issue (the line), why not invest those in getting respectable protection for him to let him use his talents.

The real issue (besides Griffin) is the defense. Not the o-line.

Nick Foles was playing just fine behind a patchwork o-line. Rodgers as well. Basically we need the hogs back for Griffin to succeed. That's not going to happen.

You can't compare other QBs behind this O line - most everyone that has seen this line play this season has called it many things and I doubt that anyone that knows would call them average - this is not a good offensive line

that being said, Griffin's bad play is not because of the O line - the line play has just not helped the offense be successful is all

If Griffin were playing really well the media would still be calling this offensive line a terrible O line

it is what it is but it is CERTAINLY NOT the reason that Griffin is making bad decisions or finding the open receiver

Just because another teams patchwork oline has success doesnt mean squat! Just a testament to how piss poor our scouting dept has done and the utter lack of depth.
