Doctor says he is ready. Coach says he is ready. Griffin says he is ready. What exactly do you want?
One more week of rest and conditioning for Robert, and one more start for Colt. How much more clearly can we spell it?
That's not what welch wrote though. He said he wants Griffin "ready. completely." So if the doctor, player and coach say he is ready completely today, why does he need one more week of rest and conditioning? Does he also need to be cleared by the fans and media?
People keep writing about this bye week and the Tampa game, but we're not basing it on any concrete evidence at all. Its just this hand wringing consensus that has built up around here. More over, I would guarantee that if we had lost to the Cowboys on Monday night, there would be far fewer opinions out there that we should continue to rest RGIII.
REDEEMEDSKIN wrote:(Seriously, if Colt can get us to 4-5 against Minnesota, RGIII leading the team at 100% for seven straight weeks after the bye would make this team all the more fearsome.)
Sure and if Colt loses v. the Vikings we're just 3-6 and have one less game to evaluate RGIII, one less game for him to develop in this offense.

It's not a must win game in that we must win in order to have a shot at making the playoffs ... we really need to see these guys play hard and let the media and fans find reasons to think that this is team is now a playoff contender
This team is better than their record indicates but they finally showed what can happen when everyone does their job well - we have some issues but we can still win 8 or 9 games if we continue to play like we did against the pukes - I understand that we can mathematically make the playoffs but the reality is that we just need to play hard and see who really wants to be a part of something special here
Getting Griffin back will help and I look for a lot more from the run game this Sunday which should help the offense
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
I like Colt. He seems like a laid back good ole boy. That's cool. I think as we just saw that he can play. Almost everyone can see that Robert is a far superior QB. Other people write off Roberts first year as an oddity. Short memories. Until he does it year after year after year and stay healthy, he will never get a break.
SkinsJock wrote:a few weeks ago EVERYONE with any sense was hoping we could find out who could help this franchise in the seasons to come

GET REAL
we are the same group that we were - we're NOT a playoff contender - we just want to win this next game

One loss less than 2012... And its always good to have a positive season after an awful one even if there is no playoff spot, not a 3-13 one (other than the draft spot). Serious chance the Redskins could be 5-5 in a few weeks I'll take that and see what happens. I don't believe I ever used the phrase "playoff contender". It would help momentum and teams that should be beaten. Can I just call you Shanny for now on giving up on the team?
I really like that Gruden reminded the team in his locker room speech that they are still 3 & 5. Don't let it get to your heads. Man, I'm really liking Gruden.

Yes lol. In Gruden's press conference, he said players get like 5 days off its not like he will get much more reps its not camp. If he is healthy, he is healthy.
They must start the QB that gives them the best chance to win and that QB is RGIII. Now with that said, IMO it doesnt make sense for RGIII to come back for 1 game and then have 2 weeks off before Tampa. It makes more sense to start Colt and hopefully he can get us a win and we would be 4-5 and then after the bye we would be able to run on all cylinders and to get the momentum going with RGIII for 7 games. I just want wins no matter who the QB is. Just win!!!!

You do understand that the CBA gives the players a bunch of time off during the bye week
Griffin needs time on the field, he does NOT need to rest

Agreed, but I just cant see it for just 1 game then to have to wait 2 weeks to play again, it just does not make any sense to me. There are to many things that could go wrong. This is just my opinion but the bottom line is that RGIII gives the Washington Redskins the best chance to win and that is how it should be.

So you're saying RGIII gives them the best chance to win v. Minnesota but we shouldn't play him because he gets a week off after the game? No offense, I just don't see how that makes a lick of sense.

Im saying in my opinion it doesnt make sense to play RGIII against Minnesota only because the next week is a bye week and he would have to wait 2 weeks to play again. Im not saying RGIII gives them the best chance to win, The Redskins are saying that and you have to play the ones that give you the best chance to win. I would be cautious with RGIII just alittle bit longer.

huh? What you wrote was "They must start the QB that gives them the best chance to win and that QB is RGIII."
Anyway, I understand what your position is. You want to be cautious with him and give him another two weeks.

OK - Griffin is given the clearance to play - why not let him play? Why wait? What are the benefits to waiting?
Is there more likelihood that he will get hurt? - NO
Is he going to be better physically/medically? - NO
will he benefit from having less playing time? - NO

lol. No worry. Anyway, if you're not in the majority with that opinion, I'd have to guess fans are probably split 50/50 on whether he should start or not.
You know as for winning the game itself, I actually think this is going to be more about Gruden v. Zimmer. People are going to be looking at RGIII, but I really want to see if Gruden is able to come up with a game plan to beat this coach who knows him well.

The Gruden v. Zimmer aspect just has got lost in the shuffle and could impact the game even more then RGIII coming back and I hope Gruden has a couple tricks up his sleeve that he saved.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm thinking. I'm also curious what Haslett will do with the defense. Will he go nuts with the blitzes again? Will he be able to confuse Bridgewater and get him to make some mistakes?
I kind of expect that RGIII will start slowly on Sunday, but that's not really any different from what we saw with Colt McCoy on Monday. I'm hoping he will be patient and not try to do too much, not try to be superman out there to make up for lost time. Man, just go out there and take care of the ball better than Cousins was doing and its a big step in the right direction - and McCoy showed if you can get the ball into our playmakers' hands they can beat a strong team.

I'm with both you guys on all of this. Handing off and running quick stuff (deep stuff can be pretty quick, too) would be nice. Like you said, take care of the ball.

I think if the Skins can keep Patterson in check when it comes to kickoff returns, play team defense and get the running game going this should be a win.

Yes, and the more we are kicking off, the better.

Here's the deal in almost every game. The talent level and coaching is close enough that it comes down to emotion .. who comes ready to play .. who's pumped and who is flat. There are four possibilities: we are both pumped, we are both flat, they are pumped and we are not, and we are pumped and they are not. If both teams are equally pumped then usually the better team wins. If one team is pumped and the other team is flat the flat team almost always loses ... even if they're a lot better. The talent level and the coaching on our respective teams is probably close enough that it's not going to make the difference. This game will be a game of emotion. I think it will mostly boil down to our emotional state. I don't think the Vikings as a team have any special reason to get up for this game to any extra extent. We have a dynamic that could work one way or the other. I think we will either show up flat or pumped because of the Griffin situation. We won't come in neutral. The Vikings might be neutral or just above emotionally. If we commit ourselves to winning this game for each other and Robert Griffin I think we can do it by force of will. We do have a special reason to get up for this game to an extra extent. I hope we do because if we do we are very likely to win.
One other thing: i'm against Griffin starting but it's certainly possible that he has recovered in all regards except for one: every recovery needs a final test. Perhaps he's completely ready but for that test. I don't think that's the case but it's possible that it is. If he's that ready and his teammates know it ... HAIL

I just thought maybe it will be a good thing for him to play the Vikings. Give him the confidence to sit on over the break. Yahoo, reports him to be probable now.
