Here's an insider article about McShay's latest mock draft. I think the player selection will make some of you guys happy!
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/nfceast ... fresh=trueTodd McShay's fourth mock Insider is now available on ESPN Insider's page and he projects a player to Washington who should make quarterback Robert Griffin III happy.
McShay puts Alabama offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio to the Redskins at No. 34 in his two-round mock.
Kouandjio played left tackle for the Crimson Tide. He would play on the right side in Washington with Trent Williams on the left as the Redskins seek an upgrade over incumbent Tyler Polumbus. Washington tried to sign tackle Donald Penn in the offseason and there's clearly a desire by those in power to replace Polumbus. So taking Kouandjio makes sense.
The defense still needs a boost and the draft could provide one with safety Deone Bucannon (more of a strong safety) or an inside linebacker such as Chris Borland. Both were still available in McShay's mock. McShay had another safety, Jimmie Ward, going late in the second round. And the Redskins' defense needs more good young players, even if they don't start immediately but are groomed for that role. But if you go by best player available, then Kouandjio probably tops this group and should be a good fit for Washington.

Getting a starting RT in the draft would be awesome. I'd feel a lot better about our prospects going into the season along with the other shakeups that have happened on the o-line.

+1. Trent Williams/Kouandjio bookends. That could be awesome.
They were pretty aggressive about bringing in RTs during free agency.

Keep in mind that the first round finishes in one night and the second round starts the next. As teams ponder what happened in the first, they could come to really desire our pick at 34. We might be able to work a trade down that would truly benefit us. Regardless, as we see every year, good players drop because outliers get picked higher than they are slotted -- see Dallas Cowboys drafting a Center a full round before he was expected to be picked. If this were to happen to a marquee player, there might be strong interest in our pick.

Good point. Let's hope one of those desired QBs drop out of the first round.

Or hope that they don't!

If enough of those QB needy teams start reaching for Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo in the first round, you can be sure there will be some real talent at #34. Whether its a trade offer or an elite player, it would be a great situation for the Redskins.
Can't wait for the draft!

Here's what Bucky Brooks thinks (and who is he, what does he know........hahaha) This is a crap shoot.
34. Washington Redskins: Joel Bitonio, OT, Nevada
Jay Gruden most important job is to help RGIII return to his playmaking ways. Adding a talented pass protector to solidify the edges is a great lace to start.

WalterFootball says we pick at #34
Washington Redskins: Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
The Redskins just re-signed DeAngelo Hall, but he won't be around much longer. Another Virginia Tech cornerback could be a possible long-term solution. Kyle Fuller will probably be chosen in the first round, but as previously reported in the 2014 NFL Draft Team Rumors page, Washington might attempt to move up.

I wouldn't complain about drafting a CB, the points they make are good. Honestly, I'll probably be happiest if we use our first pick on one of those less exciting positions that the team has kind of neglected over the years.
I still think they will go BPA if they pick at #34, and I'm not sure Kyle Fuller will be the best guy on the board then.

Here's more to chew on, per the "experts"
pick 1. Cyrus Kouandjio
pick 2. Arizona State's Carl Bradford LB
pick 3. Justin Ellis or David Yankey
wow, it's just all over the place with these predictions.

Mayock likes:
“A guy that nobody is talking about that I love is Joel Bitonio from Nevada,” he said. “Most people assume he’s a guard. I watched him handle Anthony Barr from UCLA. I watched him against Florida State. I watched him against Boise who has a good edge kid in Demarcus Lawrence. I think Bitonio will start day one at right tackle and I think he’ll be there at 34.”

Rotoworld predicts:
34. (2.2) WAS: Lamarcus Joyner, CB, Florida State
Joyner is physical as they come. If he were three inches taller, he could be a Top 10 pick.
I'm really curious IF ANY of these names posted on this here Thread...........will be our actual PICK..

Probably not, but this is what makes the NFL draft so great. Imagining all of the possibilities!
Funny I was just watching McShay on ESPN explain how the top six picks would probably go down. I'd love to see a comparison between his final mock draft and what actually happens. Does anybody know how accurate they actually end up being? I can't imagine its especially high.
hah. Let me answer that question with this article:
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/red_ ... urate.htmlWhen they posted their mocks this time last year, Mel Kiper's ended up with zero correct picks, missing out by an average of 19.1 draft spots, while Todd McShay actually had the most correct picks with two, and fared third best among their mock drafters. Both mocks linked are from February 7 of last year.
That was in Feb. so maybe their mock drafts got a little better near April.

Here guys....more predictions:
Washington Redskins
Round 2 (34): Joel Bitonio, OT, Nevada
Round 3 (66): Terrence Brooks, FS, Florida State
Round 4 (102): Walt Aikens, CB, Liberty
66. Washington Redskins: Terrence Brooks, FS, Florida State
The Redskins must find a way to get better production from their safeties in 2014. Brooks is a versatile safety with cover-corner skills
