Well, Bruce has just quashed any idea of a proper GM with a player evaluation background being appointed. Looks like more power goes to Bruce, and less to the new head coach. Do we have any more faith in Bruce's personnel decisions than we had in Mike's?

He knows his limitations. He has good scouting. Now I bet there is checks and balances. I'm ok with this. Good teams hire within. Maybe we have the people here.

Nobody who's demonstrated it yet, to my mind. Some decent coaching might help.

The new KR has been decent. He looks like a Welker type player. Hankerson can be solid third or fourth WR. Aldrick is good enough to be a 4th guy. We have a team with a clear #1 and a bunch of 3's and 4's. We need a solid #2, so that we can properly place our 3's and 4's in their right positions.

I agree that Hankerson and Robinson COULD be solid 3rd and 4th receivers, but they just haven't developed much. I'd love to see them step up. But one area where the coaching has been desperately weak under Shanahan is wide receiver. A proper receivers coach might just get them to break through.

Not sold on Nick Williams at all, but there are always players who emerge under new coaches. All of these guys are the sort of player that really good coaching might make all the difference.

I think Hank's numbers look pretty good for a #3 WR this year. He contributed and definitely improved on not dropping the ball. My question with him would be: as a third round pick shouldn't we be thinking he would have developed into a capable second WR? And of course, he's finished two seasons on IR now so can he bounce back from that?

If I was running the show, I'd have it written in everybody's contract that an o-lineman will be selected in the first three rounds, every damn year, until we've built a proper line!

Around pick 34 there should be decent OL and WR options, don't think there will be too many great safety or corner options. But people's stock can rise and drop out of nowhere. I'm thinkin Paul Richardson, Donte Moncrief, Kelvin Benjamin, Zack Martin, Antonio Richardson, Gabe Jackson, Cyril Richardson. Lotta Richardsons.

Kelvin Benjamin's stock could easily rise, especially after how Alshon Jeffery played this year.

Also there's a good DT projected to go around there, Aaron Donald, guy is a technical and strong pass rusher, and should avoid rising due to his measurables. He would help out Orakpo and Kerrigan, especially if we go back to a 4-3. He might not make it to us because he is a beast on tape, it would be a steal IMO.

I don't think we know what talent we do or don't have on this team yet...it will take a gifted coach to condition these guys to full form. We might have a hidden gem or two already on the roster.

He's a #2 IF he can get & stay healthy. 2 trips to IR

If we're considering Garcon a 1, he's certainly a sketchy 1. He's certainly in the top 32 overall, which I guess makes him a 1, but he's not elite. He's not Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Demaryius Thomas, Jordy Nelson, Josh Gordon, Vincent Jackson, Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant, Fitz, etc. With that in mind, we need another 1 or a high-end 2. I don't think Leonard Hankerson is the answer.

I watched the Fiesta Bowl last night to specifically pay attention to Cyril Richardson (G -- Baylor). He was quite impressive. I would LOVE to take him with our 2nd round pick. He's garnering high 2nd round grades and has been compared to Larry Allen. Think about that lined up next to Trent Williams....

Yes, replacing Chris Chester is more important, but pay attention to Richardson at LG.

Agree! Agree! Agree! I understand we are in need of a #2 wide out and a MLB, however, we must protect our investment in RG3 by drafting the best available linemen with pick 34. Our O-line was awful this year, maybe the worst part of our team, in my opinion everything besides Trent needs to be replaced. As for #2 wideouts, several options will be available via free agency (including Maclin who I would be willing to take a chance on if Philly lets him walk... despite his recent injury history). And as for MLB, i think Perry Riley was being groomed to replace Fletcher and I have faith he can do so some-what successfully. O-Line is BY FAR our biggest need.

Great post too... I agree with what you said for the most part, especially about the garbage oline. Rgiii has to keep his eyes on the collapsing line instead of downfield!.. maclin is an interesting notion too. As for Riley, he will replace Fletcher, and as soon as he starts catching the balls that hits his hands he will be an improvement to The Fletcher we had this year. However if we stay with the 3/4 we would still have a hole at ilb. Brian Khel might be next in line amount a few others.
I really hope Rambo and Thomas have an amazing off-season. Safety will be a concern and I think Ameraon replaces wilson and we extend halls contract and let crawford, bernstine, murphey, and my boy minnifield duke it out for the nickel back and back up roles.

We can get oline fellas in FA though. Guys with a proven NFL track record. Sure, you can say the same for defense, but I'd like to see us go heavier on offense in FA, and heavier on defense in the draft.

I'm struggling to keep hope in Rambo. Still very curious about Thomas, but word out of camp all last offseason was Rambo was learning faster than Thomas. Oddly, they were also saying Aldrick Robinson was developing in the WR position the most :/

I will never understand why they let Minnifield go, but grateful we picked him back up. He has instincts...hopefully he will also have a productive offseason.

Not sure if this is allowed, but I would hope these guys start their training earlier and for longer to get themselves together. Especially since we'll have a new coach.
