Sereral things on this article.

1. Dallas is building for the future, probably 2005-08 SB runs.

2. Dallas has spent their cap dollars probably more wisely than most. If you look at where a majority of the $16 million is going, it's going to clean up past mistakes (Pre-Parcells). Eating the contract of Galloway, and most likely Allen, this season, when there wasn't alot of value in the FA market, clears the cap up for 2005 and beyond.

3. Most likely, this season will be to evaluate Henson, even on the bench for a majority of it, and decide if he's a SB talent. If he isn't then look for a FA QB next off-season.

4. 10-6 was something of an illusion.

5. Allen is nowhere near the player he once was. The line looked equal or better when he was on the sidelines with another of his mysterious "injuries" in almost every game last season.

6. If the Dallas team of '03 lined up against the Dallas team of '04, the '04 team would win right now even without the draft picks that will be coming in. The only two "losses" suffered so far in FA are Ekuban, who was more than adequately replaced (of course my grandmother would have be an adequate replacement), Edwards, who was the weakest link on the defense last season. While not technically a FA, Galloway for Johnson is something of a wash

7. Dallas was one of the youngest teams in the league last seaon and the only player who one could realistically expect "slippage" from due to age is Woodsen. Every other player who saw any significant time last season should improve.

I love your point of view, curveball. It sounds to me like you see things very realistically. I hope to see more posts from you.
