I'm all for the winning a Super Bowl scenario
THEN
a really big offer comes in for him to go and be a Head Coach somewhere else next season
I like that
not happening though
Kyle knows 2 things better that anyone
1 that he's in a good place with a great QB and a great RB
2 that he's NOT ready to be a HC

also, do you really think that the son wants to go head-to-head, toe-to-toe vs the father...?
Kyle......"I am your FATHER.........." (darth vader)
Head Coach Kyle Shanahan

Kyle Shanahan is being talked about as a head coaching candidate. I'd like to see him stay and succeed His dad; obviously our core group is so young they will outlast Mike and it'd be nice to have that continuity of scheme for two decades.

This makes sense. So does staying here and taking over. If his success continues he will get a shot one way or another.

I'd like him to go this off-season but only if he goes to KC, takes Cousins with him and the Chiefs send us at least one their top three picks in 2014 and 2015
No need for a high pick this season with the last installment of CapGate duetribeofjudah wrote:this should be merged with the POLL..........
We're a little slow this time of year

Package deal for Kyle Shannahan and Kirk Cousins?

I saw someone mention how if Kyle Shannahan was to head out he would want to bring Kirk Cousins with him.
Now I know this is very unlikely but it sprouted this crazy idea in my head..
A package deal to send Kyle Shannahan & Kirk Cousins.. head coach and QB... It is possible to trade coaches right? just highly unconventional.
interesting

this is the plan
-give shanny extension (in the works apprently)
-trade kirk + kyle for 2 1sts and a few other picks
-kyle goes to bills, or some other poverty team
-kyle gets fired 2-3 years later, just in time for mike to retire and kyle to be hired as head coach
-now has HC experience, and is set with a QB, draft picks, and a good organization (assuming things go well over the next 3 years)
profit

Good move.
Daniel Snyder is still our owner so money should not be a factor. Pay the kid 2 million to continue to be OC, great money for a coordinator by the way, instead of 3.5 or 4 million to be the head of a crappy team like Buffalo.

Ever think of a possibility where Mike and Kyle switch roles eventually? Kind of a semi-retirement for Mike . He gets to limit his time in front of the media (which he seems to dislike) Kyle steps in and does all the heavy lifting but, dad is still there to teach and mentor.
Kyles young and still a bit of a hot head, He needs dad around for several more years before flying solo.
It would simply come down to ego management, IMO

I noticed 3 Atlanta assistants are interviewing. I like that distraction for them - especially since we play them next.

I thought that was an NFL rule, but I guess not.

EDIT: That's assuming a GB win; if MIN wins we go to San Fran. Personally I want ATL again.

hah. I hated your plan at first, but I like how it comes around.

I think we stay the same here
not what I want but that's just my feeling on this
this franchise provides great opportunity and staying for a little longer only adds to the resumes

He's being mentioned in the Chicago press a fair bit, pure speculation of course. Personally, I don't think he's ready yet but he's certainly one of the hot names out there currently.
