I actually think the opposite: we're tempering our enthusiasm too much!
This is what makes being a fan exciting. And, while, yes, the letdown can seem almost unbearable, it will be even more awesome if there's not a let down!

What if rex played vs NO... Would we be the team with the MOST yards on offense?
I'm like, that boy is s good as I thought, but showing flashes of being better much faster then anyone could have guessed. We certainly are competitive in the NFC east crown race our O line actually looks the best. (and I'm partial to rgiii too)
SHOULD we get 9+ wins this year? No. It'd make history duuuuh
BUT COULD we get 9+ wins? Absolutely. RGiii effects people around him.. not just lbs

Will RGIII make rookie mistakes? Undoubtedly. But the question should be Will he make more positive plays than rookie mistakes? Or will he make so many mistakes that he costs us games? I think the answer is no to these questions. Rexy made many, many rookie mistakes last year, and he's not even a rookie.

I just can't buy the idea of us winning the division at this point. I want to, but 1 game is just not enough. The history of the team for the last decade plays a role (albeit a PTSD reaction role), but my real hesitation stems from the plan of the guys in charge now, which is all that really counts from history perspective. I don't think that we have the depth they want at OL, Safety and maybe corner. I think that depth is developing very well at linebacker, and already is there at RB, DL, TE, WR and QB.
So my concern is really that if the injury bug hits at the wrong position, we could be in trouble deeper than we can cover. As deadskins mentioned, our staying healthy is a big "if". I think by the time we finish this season and have a draft/free agency next year, we'll have the depth these guys want and we'll be whupping donkey.

Woulda coulda. It's pretty easy to speculate on the results of RG3 and last years record, but until we start winning, you can't help that people want to actually WAIT for the results while still supporting the team. It's not that I disagree that we would have been better last year, the fact is, you could go back every year and say, if we had this player and we would have been better. How about just winning the next game and not acting like one game against a poor defense, and an offense that played horrible, is a sign we're going to win the super bowl.
As for injuries, that's what every team says. Stay healthy and we'll win. That's just not possible. Every team will face injuries, and it's the teams that have good depth that will win. Hell, the Giants were decimated by injuries last year and they didn't use it as an excuse.
So if we start facing injuries, we'll find out if we have the depth to win. I feel like its getting better, but not there yet, but we'll see. Let's just win this weekend and not lay an egg. That would show me some signs of progress and I will then ratchet up my excitement one notch. Basically a show me attitude.

I am not taking this game lightly at all. Judging from us only going 2-2 against these losers the last 5 years, but to say the rams have a lot of talent is kidding yourself. This is a game we should win comfortably if we want to consider ourselves "contenders." They won the turnover battle 3-0 last week and somehow manged to lose. Do you know how terrible you have to be as a team to pull that off?!?!?

No one is making excuses, and no the G-strings were not decimated by injuries. At least not at the end of the year. That's actually when they got healthy again with several players coming back from earlier injuries just in time for the playoffs. Right now, they are decimated at the CB spot (which is why Ogletree had such a big day), so we'll see how they react and try to cover for that. If we keep getting hit at safety by the injury bug, we may be in the same boat. No team can survive too many injuries at the same position.

catch the wave of good play and ride it as long as you can. We all saw that our QB has the talent to win against any given team. We wont win 'em all, but we could win IT all. Other than Special Teams, the Skins have not yet shown any major weaknesses. Until and unless they do, assuming that they are imminently to collapse is counterproductive. Don't feed those thoughts, feed the ones that have Lombardi Trophies in them instead. As lousy as our records have been during the famine, we still have managed to be VERY close in a huge number of games. With such a VAST improvement at QB, it is almost inconceivable that we end up sub-.500. If this weeks performance is even just solid (vs. stellar) we can consider a division title as a possibility IMO

I don't think the Redskins players or coaches took the game lightly AT ALL
Mike has a great deal of respect for Jeff and we all saw that the Rams were a little unlucky against a very good lions club in detroit
the refs basically lost control of this game early on and the Rams were able to take better advantage of that
we lost - we were NOT going 16-0 - we're an 8 to 10 win team and we still are ..
