If I was
ey and they wanted me as the backup FB vs TE, I would tell the Redskins, No Thanks.

Why? He's out of work now and nobody cares what your position title is. Just ask Brandon Banks.
He was drafted as an H - Back which is essentially a hybrid FB/TE. I doubtey cares what his job title is.

Or Niles, Alexander, Orakpo, Barnes or the other guys who played different positions the last few years. Iney's case, I thought I read he was already practicing some FB in the offseason anyway. But the idea that a guy would pass on being flexible to play in the NFL is always a ridiculous comment.

“I absolutely can be happy with any role on this team,”ey said. “The Washington Redskins have played a huge part in my life. I daily feel like I want to do anything I can do for this team. I owe this organization a lot. The only thing I want to do is win. I want to win on this team. That’s the only thing I haven’t been able to do.”

ey next week. Per CBA rule changes, if
ey is on the roster prior to week 1, his full 2012 salary would be guaranteed. There is no such guarantee if he is signed next week.
I would welcome him back obviously, but would be interested in learning who would be cut if he's re-signed.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2012/09/07/no-sign-yet-if-a-team-will-sign-chris-cooley/The Washington Redskins have left open the possibility of re-signing veteran tight end Chrisey and plan to meet with him next week, General Manager Bruce Allen said Friday.
Allen made those comments during an appearance at the National Press Club.
“Yes, absolutely that door is still open,” Allen said, according to the team. “We have a meeting next week.”[
Cut Rex and re-signey. Rex will be a phone call away when Shanny feels the need to put him back on the roster.

And Fred was one of the few Redskins who sucked yesterday.
Maybe we cut Grossman, maybe we already did. But I personally don't think we should cut him. Grossman may be a terrible starter, but he's a good backup. The key word in cutting Grossman isn't Griffin, it's Cousins. They'd have to have a lot of confidence in him to cut Grossman.

Well, if Rexy didn't even suit up yesterday, I'd say they have that confidence. On Davis sucking, I wonder if that was because he wasn't open, or he just wasn't targeted by Kyle.
Deadskins wrote:It's not like cutting Rexy loose would mean he wouldn't necessarily be available if something happened to RGIII. Do you really think there would be a big scramble to sign him if we let him go?

That Grossman "may" be available if we need him doesn't address my point

Sure it does. If no one else signs Rex, we can resign him if we need his services.
