Fair point, but his sucking wasn't just the healthy team but his decision making as well. As the year went on, so did the number of just pure bone head plays. The pattern of his career. Playing well leads to, "huh, what the ... decisions."

No question about it Kazoo. That's his M.O. You could probably even say he played some of his better games when the team was at its most banged up last year. I just mentioned "health", because I think the team really has to be healthy to overcome any of those BadRex plays and get a win.

Mr. Turnover factory is not a good QB to groom a young player like RGIII.
ABSOLUTELY agree - Grossman may be here but I have no doubt that this FO will find a QB they can depend on
nobody's guaranteed to be the starter here
SJ you did it again...
You absolutely agree Rex shouldn't be here to a player like Griffin but then says it's OK if he is, and if he's the starter that's OK too.
What is even worst is this time it makes sense!
SkinsJock wrote:Mike does not care about who starts - he will start the QB that gives him the best chance to win
Grossman may win a job here but he's got a lot of work to do and I doubt he makes it
If Grossman does the work needed to start for the Redskins in 2012 then Shanny wasted a bunch of draft picks last week.
I won't have a problem with RG3 as RGIII's backup. RGIII backing up RG3 is something I'd have a major problem with.
Beck is due $1.3M for 2012, this is money that can be used to re-sign Grossman... that is ALL of the money that they should use to re-sign him. Beck knows the offense too but we don't want either him or RG3 to actually take field in 2012 so pay one or the other. If Rex will take Beck's $1.3M (I think he'll get more elsewhere) then do the deal, if not keep Beck.
I've been saying from day one that there needs to be at least 4 or 5 QBs in camp this year. I still don't want Peyton (not many teams seem to want him, so they might still bring him in regardless of what you've heard), wouldn't mind Flynn but doubt he'll sign here now that the trade has been made, for some reason JC keeps poping up in discussions but as much as I loved him at AU and in the B&G, I'll pass. That leaves Orton or Garard... either would due but if Garard's back is straight I'd go with him over Orton. The bottom line is RGIII needs to win the starting job this training camp, Beck and RG3 both don't need to be on the roster and the cost of which one stays should have a $0 change in the cap situation (losing picks means spending money... cutting Beck frees up $1.3M with no dead cap to worry about).
Currently there is Crompton, and Beck on the roster, if Beck stays RG3 shouldn't be re-signed. I say cut Beck bring back RG3 and sign another free agent, considering we can not go with my Plan A anymore.
Which was... in order
Sign Flynn, draft RGIII while retaining the 2012 2nd rd pick, and draft whoever was left at QB in the 4th rd if it was somebody they like there. That would have brought five QB into camp they might need to settle on for, without bout of last year's backups that had starting role.

I see what you mean 1niksder - I did not mean it like it sounded
Grossman should be brought in to compete for a spot - I just don't think he's going to change his turnover issues
Grossman has to have a really great camp to be able to make the roster - a good camp will not get it done
I hope that we have a bunch of QBs here also
ALSO hope the offensive line gets a lot of focus from both the draft and free agency as we need a lot of players - ggod depth along the line is critical

The guy was the starting QB last year. If they do re-sign him, its because they intend for him to be here as the backup. They already know what Rex is, they're not signing some longshot mystery man. Why would he have to come here and blow everybody away with some newly improved super skills at training camp?
I'd expect a Rex Grossman at camp this year to be the same player he was last year.

Pretty much Riggo.. also let's add that even REX himself know's his role too.

If Shanahan really did see something in Beck, there would be no use to resign Grossman, IMO. He's already here (contractually) for 2012, so why not go out and spend the money it would take to resign Grossman elsewhere?

The NFL only counts the top 51 contracts as part of the cap. The difference between what you would pay him and that guy that is now th 52nd contract would probably be no more than $600K. I'm sure cutting Beck would save more than that.
Rex is the cheepest and best solution at backup! Unless they just want to roll the dice and go with RG3 and Crompton (or another young player).
Now this all goes out the window if the Titans sign Peyton and Matt Hasselback become available.

I thought about this possibility. What if Peyton or Matt Flynn go to Miami, would that make Matt Moore available? I'd certainly rather have him over Wrecks.
