Well, probably not, but maybe.

Seems like we gave up a mint, but with Manning on the market, and Cleveland nipping at our heels... we needed to ---- or get off the pot.

Now we have ensured that we'll get a top QB from this draft. Like most of us, I'm worried about a bust, but this is a unique situation. High profile busts like JaMarcus Russell, Heath Shuler, Akili Smith, etc. etc... those are usually guys that get picked without a trade up. When that happens, it tells me that a team is there rationalizing the pick, convincing themselves he's the guy.

With this trade, Mike Shanahan was willing to throw the value chart out the window and just get reamed. It tells me he's absolutely done his homework and he believes that Robert Griffin III is legit. It also shows he's equally confident in Andrew Luck, should the Colts take everyone by surprise.

It's nice to see the Redskins as major players, I still remember the huge amount they gave up for Brad Johnson. I really hope this pans out.

Don't lose sight that the Redskins got the rights to the number #2 draft Pick, not RGIII. That means they could also get Andrew Luck if the Colts think Griffin is better. If I were the Colts and need as much help on the offensive as the Colts do, I would go for RGIII not Griffin. Luck is going to be running for his life and he doesn't have the speed of Griffin.

Let's hope the Redskins are able to get character wide receivers in FA and not Albert Haynesworths types or those who are one smoke away from suspension.

Seriously. I can't remember the team needing a legit player at a position over the last few years more than at QB. Even the Heyer@RT experiment was better than the QB situation. Heyer was a better RT than Rex/Beck was at QB imho.

Agreed, but at least there will be stability at QB which is something the Skins have desperately needed and moving forward it will pay off in the end.

Guys this is how I see it. He was the best franchise qb in the market that we could realistically get guaranteed (hence manning). He fits perfectly in Shanahans system. We know what were gonna get and we can explode the free agency market now that we are getting RG3 or Luck. Prb RG3 depend on the Colts pick. There is only ONE thing that SCARES me about RG3...hes had a torn ACL (our oline isnt that strong and he will get hit) plus we gave up alot, but if he turns out to a great franchise qb like cam newton. its A OKAY

Don't underestimate Luck's athleticism. His combine numbers were off the charts, right up there with Cam Newton's from last year.

We gave up swap of 1st rounders, a 2nd rounder a 1st rounder in the next season, and a first rounder in 2014.

So broken down, this years 1st round draft picks were a wash, next years 1st rounders were a wash, the 1st in 2014 is like a 3rd this year, so those cancel out. So it comes down to this years 2nd to this years 3rd and 5th. Someone break out the value chart, but the totals between those have got to be fairly close right?

The thing I don't understand, is that I didn't think you were allowed to trade draft picks until the first of the season, which is next week?

I think I've heard that with Pat Kirwin. That a 1st next year is equivalent to a 2nd this year and a 1st two years out is equivalent to a 3rd this year. I think 1nik made the same comment as well.

Miscalculated. Been drinking sorry. The 3rd was already canceled, so it comes down to a 2nd versus a 5th this year. Yeah, we paid more than the Giants, but what the hell. It's great to back on the sauce. Where's R_F? Hes got to love this deal.

So much for building through the draft. You know what this reminds me of? The Herschel Walker trade.

This was the dumbest move the Redskins have made in the 30 years I have been a fan. It is stupid to trade so much for one guy -- a guy who might not be as good as everyone hopes, a guy who might get injured on opening day.

So much for patience and sticking with a long term strategy.

In addition to all the other pressure our new pick would have faced, he will now have the additional pressure of knowing that we traded so much for him.

He better not make any mistakes!

It's a hell of a price to pay, but we're paying for a hell of a player if the scouts are right. This completely changes the dynamic of our offence, and increases our chances of attracting a big time wide receiver in free agency.

From the film I've seen, I love Griffin as a player, but he also comes across as being the kind of person that we need to lead this franchise on the field. Let's just not expect him to lead from game one - let's give the guy some time, shall we?!

Oh, and if the Colts throw everything out of whack by drafting Griffin, then I won't be disappointed by having Luck either.
