Trade up for Griffin or luck, sign Flynn. Too drunk to explain the logic again tonight. Read it on another post and reply please

Yes, well, no actually, say what? What did you say? Are you in need of medical attention?

Sorry about the last response. Just was laughing at myself. Anyway, yes they contradict each other. I actually meant it differently though. I would like to trade up a couple spots to pick up RGIII IF he is the guy that they like, but with every top level QB that is staying in school, it is becoming more and more expensive to do and the likely hood of it happening is dwindling. That's why I'm still drinking this morning

Fans, fans, fans. This is mind boggling. The cycle of getting all wide eyed only at the "hot" commodity in the NFL Draft and being willing to trade multiple high picks to get one guy.
NEWSFLASH. That doesn't work when your team has more holes than Swiss Cheese.
If you guys don't quit, I'm going to vomit. Get a hold of yourselves. If RG3 is there, take him. Otherwise, there is no earthly reason for a team that's lost 21 games in 2 seasons should be giving away picks for ANY rookie.
If you don't like hearing it from me, just take a gander at this pathetic frenzy that some of you guys were in during the 2011 draft when we moved Down
and landed Kerrigan.
http://www.the-hogs.net/forum/viewtopic ... c&start=30
Using this emotional logic, we were stupid to take Kerrigan, and pick up other picks that became
Jarvis Jenkins & Leonard Hankerson AND gave us the ammunition to accumulate later picks that were used to MOVE UP and take
ROY HELU. If memory serves me correctly, the pick that became
Evan Royster was also acquired in one of our tradeback deals. I could be wrong, but the point is clear. We added several quality guys with picks that we otherwise would not have had if we picked Gabbert just because he's got nice hair and was on Mel Kiper's Big Boy Board.
Kerrigan & Helu were one of the best players on the offense and defense respectively. Jekins was by all accounts ready to tear it up on the D Line. And, Hankerson was coming on before injury. So, instead of getting Blaine Gabbert--the media darling, we got 4 guys who immediately helped.
Now, here it is in 2012, and you people are still begging to sell your souls for the next hot QB.
Don't you ever get it??
Pull yourselves together.

It's fun to play fantasy football with the draft picks but the reality is that
this FO has to continue building on what they've already started with the great additions and astute SUBTRACTIONS they've made here
this FO has only had 2 drafts and we are very likely a playoff franchise in 2012 BECAUSE they have done a good job
now there are some that want to go back to the old ways - just bring in the 'star' players - this reminds me of Snyder & Cerrato
sure Beck and Grossman did not work out but this FO will identify the QBs that are both free agents and draft picks that they feel will help this franchise -
they almost certainly will not be 'star' players
there will almost certainly be many fans here who will be royally pissed off because they did not bring in the "best available"
then those same 'mistakes' will show us that they are better than the "best available" stars would have been
this is what we've been waiting for - a FO that has a plan and sticks to it
THIS IS THE SHANAPLAN at work in Washington
I'm looking forward to it

I only see one question you posted above, and I don't have an answer as to why you would waste a 2nd round pick on crap. I say don't do it.

I agree - let's face it - it does not look like there are a bunch of QBs available that are obviously going to help
There appears to be 2 maybe 3 good college kids and no outstanding free agents
the good news is that we now have a FO that knows what they are doing - Snyder & Cerrato are not destroying us anymore
This FO will NOT waste draft picks - they will find a way to address the QB issue - THEY HAVE TO & they will

The way to address it is to first stop obsessing over the next Cam Newton, Mike Vick, or Peyton Manning, and realizing that you can win with a Joe Flacco, Andy Dalton, or Matt Schuabb IF you build a GOOD TEAM.
Peyton Manning might be one of the best QBs in history. He has 1 Ring--not surprising that his team can barely win without him. Tom Brady may be one of the best QBs in history. He has 3 Rings and 4 trips to the Superbowl. BUT, when he got injured his TEAM still won 11 games. Big Ben is a good QB. But, when he was suspended at the beginning of that season, his team still started 3-1 without him.
See a correlation???
You need a GOOD TEAM to win consistently. One guy can only take you so far--even if he is one of the Greatest of All Time. I'd much rather be the Patriots than the Colts. Tom Brady was not a 1st round pick. No, I'm not saying that we should take a QB in round 6 or 7. What I'm saying is KEEP YOUR PICKS. BUILD A GOOD TEAM. Then you won't need one of the Greatest QBs of ALL TIME just to win games.

But you do need a QB that won't make mistakes and turn the ball over, like Rexy does.

Kellen Moore would be an intriguing value pick after round 3. We all know his record as a starter. Obviously, the MWC isn't the SEC, but Moore played well in big games against BCS competition every time he had the opportunity. He's accurate as hell. He's short, and doesn't have a cannon arm, but all the intagibles are there.
I would love to see him get a chance to compete in training camp and the preseason.

let's sign Flynn and then trade down AND up from lower picks and draft as many of these QBs as possible! let 'em duke it out and see who our long-term QB will be then trade the rest away!

If we can't make a trade for Bradford or draft RG3 or someone that makes an impact then the Shans are gone. It has to be this off season. What are the chances that we pick in the top 6 next year and they are still here?

These fans are killing me. We talk trash about Vinny Cerrato and his flagrant, idotic disregard of draft picks, but every year, we want them team to trade draft picks. WTF am I missing

It isn't about what the fans want with me. I would prefer a good QB magically appear on our roster next year. Don't think that will happen though.

You understand the highlighted part is utterly rediculous right? We may or may not but Shanny has pulled the trigger and made moves to get his guy so don't kid yourself. I doubt even Kyle can make a statement that bold and be certain. Shanny will do what ever the truck he has to to get his guy.. Is it rgiii? Thays not a given. Could be one of these guys or spmeone over looked. Time will tell all, unless your magic ball is always right? Mine lies.

It's the off season. In the end 1/3 will be happy, 1/3 will be pissed, the rest won't care one way or the other. Most will say they knew whatever happens was going to happen.
Don't you just love off-season

Well, if we go for some unknown QB project that doesn't work out...How long do you expect this regime to last? If we go for a QB that most see potential to succeed do you think our administration will get a pass if we fail? Lets be real here. Even Shanny himself doesn't expect to last through year 4 if he can't get things going.

Vinny, and also Gibbs, traded picks for other teams' players, like Lloyd who busted or Duckett who barely played. There is a big difference between doing that and trading up to take a young stud at the most important position on the field. Trading up for a qb is not comparable to boneheaded moves of Cerrato. And its not like Shanahan has shown some great reverence for draft picks. Yes, we accumulate more picks last year, but we also traded multiple picks for McNabb, a pick for Brown, a pick for Beck, and swapped picks for Carriker. In Denver he was also no stranger to trading draft picks.

Yeah, well in order to trade up, you need a partner. If you look at whose picking ahead of us, you'll see that we need some leverage--which we don't have. So, we will be giving away valuable picks to move a few spots. Sound smart to you?? Fine.
Meanwhile, I'm more encouraged by the fact that our coaches are coaching in the SENIOR BOWL. A game where other QBs will be playing.

People get paid to scout. Not look at mock drafts, and media reports to tell them who to pick. Maybe fans should think bigger as well.

Absolutely. Minnesota would be making a good deal to move down to #6 to get next year's first rounder, and possibly another pick this year. I'd make that move if I were them. Picks and players are pretty much the only leverage there is. I don't know why you're acting as if this is such a huge undertaking. This kind of thing goes on in every draft.

I'd rather trade down than up. I realize that trades happen every year. I'm just not sold that it's worth it for us to give up what it will take to jump 2-3 spots. WE AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH YET.
Fans give QBs more credit than they deserve, and more blame than they earn. Football people realize it is a team game. We ARE NOT A GOOD TEAM. Therefore, trading picks to move up and get a QB is not on my wishlisht.
