You and a whole bunch of others in this board.

We are what we are: a team in transition. It is getting better but we were in a very deep hole. :explode:

Three losses.
One to Dall-Ass at their home opener, just barely.
One to the Giggles, arguably the fastest team in the league.
One to the Panters, who have put up gaudy offensive numbers all year.

I would have loved to win those, but it is what it is. I think we need to refocus on being disciplined. Penalties took away early momentum against the Giggles, and hurt us in all three losses. Defensively, we need to stay in areas of responsibility. Orakpo overran a number of big runs where it looked like he was responsible for sealing the edge. Sacks are great, but disciplined play shuts down offenses.

We are ok so far.
I expect Beck to improve with more reps, but I thought he looked better than Grossman, even rusty. Hopefully Beck and Hankerson have developed some rapport while practicing as reserves. Hankerson needs to step up and fulfill his destiny with Moss sidelined.

Maybe a couple losses will get opponents to overlook us to some degree. In any case, I still predict 9 wins and playoffs next year.

With Hightower out for the season, Moss out for most of the rest of the season, not even a mediocre QB, and a once good D looking now more sick than anything, I agree....the Skins are done! They'll be lucky to win another game....

Grampi,
First and foremost, you know we're playing Miami right? So to say we're not going to win another game makes no sense. Also, we're playing Seattle too. So come on a bit. We've got at a minimum two more wins.

It cracks me up that you think the Skins won't lose those games...if there's anything the Skins have proven is they can lose to ANY team...

That's the NFL my friend. I'm just looking at Miami who does not have a QB, no running game and a lackluster defense.

Beck did not play terrible either. Yes we're injured in a lot of areas but we have enough talent on this roster that they can put it together. We have a good running game. We have an adequate passing game and our defense was/is better than they showed this past weekend.

We really don't. We are currently ranked 20th in the NFL in rushing yards per game. If you go by yards per carry we are worse, ranked 23rd in the NFL. Our longest rush of the season is 39 yards, we are 22nd in rushes for first downs, and near the bottom of the NFL with 4 rushing tds.

Obviously the lack of a passing game contributes to the rushing woes, so hopefully Beck can make some plays to get teams that are stacking the box to back off. On the other hand, we've now lost Hightower and the offensive line was already having trouble opening holes before Trent and Corey got hurt.

Beck has started a whopping 5 games. He's essentially not even halfway through his rookie year in terms of game experience.

He's only started 1 game for the Skins. I' m astonished how many QB coaches we have on this site that can evaluate a guy based on 37 pass attempts as the Redkins starter.

Get a grip folks.

Just beat the cowboys and finish 4-12. That would be good enough for me this year!!!!

Hail,

Not done. Spurrier is not coaching, and neither is Zorn. Not done.

Hail,
From what this team has shown lately, even hoping for a 4-12 season may be a stretch...

I can't respond to this thread and keep it "G" rated, therefore I answered redskinz4ever in smack... and others too.

Now carry-on with your crying and whining like some bamaz.

I just hope (and think) that we'll finish better than last year. I'd honestly be content with 7-9. Anything less and this season has been a failure.

ROTFALMAO ;

We are playing AT Miami and AT Seattle, so all bets are off. Regardless, 2 more wins is depressing -- but that may very well be the result.

It is amazing what 20 years of losing can do to ones perspective.

And yet the number of obscenely overly-optimistic people in this site year after year never ceases to amaze me....

Totally agree. I just think it is the culture of THN cite. Many people on here believe that if you aren't overly optimistic you aren't a true skins fan. I almost got chased off the cite for my discontent (mostly in 2008) towards Jason Campbell.

I was actually talking to someone about this cite during the game last week and the person I was speaking with (who is not a poster on the cite, but goes on multiple skins forums just to read what people are saying) actually made the exact same comment.......

I'd be interested to see what you mean by "almost chased off the site." I'm pretty certain that translates to "people disagreed with me, even vehemently." (I guess the implication is that one ought to be able to go to a website and say what one thinks while receiving no pushback?)

Note also that, whatever else you think of THN — I, for example, don't see it as a place entirely dominated by optimists, which is an idea easily destroyed merely by browsing a thread or two — fans negative and positive can come here to share their opinion and engage in back and forth. All are welcome, provided they follow basic rules of civilized conversation, aka our house rules.

Every now and again it's good to stick up for the site and counter people who insinuate we don't live up to the standards that we very clearly advocate. Thanks for the opportunity to do that.

If you want to talk about this further, I suggest starting a thread in the Lounge to do so, instead of taking this thread off track. Thank you.

What exactly did you buy into? I bought into the Shanaplan too, but I wasn't expecting an 11-5 year with a run at the Super Bowl.

As CanesSkins points out, injuries are going to make it tough for us to show improvement. I think we can still meet the milestones of an improving team this year: as always, 8-8, with anything more being icing on the cake. It will be a struggle to make it even that far.
i bought into that we are changing but all i see is the same results year in and year out.not beleving a word shanny ever says after he told us that grossman and beck are capable of leading this team ....... also i came in saying 8 & 8 not sure we can get to that more like another 6 & 10
improvements are needed all over this team oline qb wr cb depth on both lines and get younger.
yeah i did hope we would be better but i guess we are in the 5 year plan .....that no other team takes 5 years to turn it around.with the right plan

I see a decent balance of optimism and pessimism on this website. Isn't that par for the course for any NFL team that's in a "rebuilding" mode?

Whooo there. My main issue was that people on here would disagree with actual facts I presented -- not opinion. That is what I thought was crazy.

If I had that big of an issue with it or took it even remotely personally, I would no longer be on the cite. And I appreciate pushback -- otherwise what is the point of an online forum?

But I was just repeating something that I heard from another. You don't have to get so defensive. I understand that this is your cite and you take great pride in it --- and it's a good cite. Whether there are more optimistis or pessimists, I will leave the reader to decide. And being that this cite advocates opinions, I was just providing mine.
