The 'Skins need to:

Limit Rex's dropbacks. The Eagles are excellent at forcing turnovers and are second in the league in sacks. When he does pass, the patterns should be short and develop quickly. Use the TEs; I doubt the Eagles LBs can cover them. Same goes for dump-offs to Helu.

Commit to the run with Torain and Helu. No first down passes. No trick plays. Just straight up the gut with Torain, with Helu outside when the scheme fits.

Keep contain on the edges with Orakpo and Kerrigan, minimize their coverage responsibilities.

Control the ball and the clock if/when they have a lead. Shorten the game and keep the Eagles' playmakers on the sidelines; the Eagles can score in bunches. A seven minute drive that ends in a punt and pins the Eagles deep is not a bad thing when you're leading in the second half.

Score TDs in the redzone. No FGs.

No we don't! If we start thinking about that game, how are we supposed to win?
there is NO WAY that anyone that is on the field this Sunday, on either team, is thinking about anything but this game, this week and the importance of doing everything they can to try and win this game

fans sometimes come up with the most incredible 'stuff' that they think other fans should 'remember'

I mean, do you not remember? If not I'm sure Fox and ESPN will show plenty of previews of exactly what happened.

I woke up at 3am to watch that ass kicking. Surrounded by Eagles fans, it was the worst. I remember it well. A win this week will definitely help me in my efforts to forget that though.

I never like to play a team coming off a bad loss -- which is exactly the eagles situation. They will come out hungry to win this game. This is a serious must win for the eagles.

Good Thing: it is a home game and we are coming off a bye.

Bad Thing: so was our monday night game last year.

Hopefully the skins will remember the embarassment that was Nov 15th. If I were MS, I would force the team to watch the game saturday night.

With that said: Skins 23 - 20.

Actually, they're not. They have only 5 takeaways this season and are last in the NFC in turnover differential at -10.

The Bills D being Vick's check down receiver this weekend didn't help that ratio either lol

+1. We do this, we win. Especially the first 2 points.

trust me on this ...

the eagles have never, EVER, won a game at FedEx field, that began at 1pm in October, that followed an eagles loss to the Bills

this is a walk-off game for the Redskins - we're 4-1 - take it to the bank baby

IMO
we do NOT want this game to get out of the low 20s not sure we can win in a shoot out.we need TOP on our side make this game as short as we can keep rex from making too many mistakes.
our passing game will most likely come from our TE & RBs ..... hopefully we set the tone right away run the ball as much as we can.
our D needs to NOT give up the big play make them earn every yard ..... we must dictate to them NOT them to us.keep vick contained and bring the heat !!!!!
lets not forget special teams better bring our A game.
my score
skins 24
eagles 17
4 & 1

Hate to do this, but have to say

Eagles 42
Skins 17

Ouch. I know it sucks, but Everything is lined up perfectly for a big letdown. Skins healthy, coming off a bye with 2 weeks to prepare with the game at our house. Eagles lost 4 in a row, cant play defense and everyone questioning vick and reid. All the experts shoveling dirt on the eagles for the season etc... And that is why it is going to suck extremely bad to have Another team get right on the skins. We truly have a chance to vault ourselves into a great position, leading the nfc east heading into the soft stretch of our schedule, while ripping out the heart of what many consider to be the greatest threat to the division (or at the start of season anyway). And all those reasons combined leads me to believe we will get annihilated. Sorry.. but seen it WAY to many times. I pray to god I'm dead wrong.. but I dont think I am. Hopefully this is a new era and we can start to exercise the demons of the last 20 years.

Nor have the Eagles ever won at Fedex Field playing against Tim Hightower. The Eagles have never won at Fedex Field less than two months after a 5.8 magnitude earthquake. Which by the way is the same amount of yards Redskins running back Hightower will average per carry (5.8 ). And that will be Second to Torain's 8.5 yards per carry and third to Helu's 15.2 yards per carry. The ground may shake Sunday, but that's from the fans stomping their feet in celebration.

Shanahan’s record after the bye is 10-5, a .750 winning percentage.

The eagles never win following a loss and a week in which there's a full moon

there is NO WAY the eagles are going to be prepared for what is going to happen to them this Sunday at FedEx Field

If you had posted this last year, I may have agreed with you. This is not last years team. I cannot see this happening.

WHY do fans still look at the Redskins as being likely to play like Redskins' teams from years ago

this is a different coaching staff with different players - DIFFERENT EVERYTHING

we are not a consistently competitive team yet but we are a force to be reckoned with each week - we've EARNED that

this eagles team is still a force offensively but they have huge problems against the running game - they cannot suddenly fix that
HOPEFULLY Mike will make sure that Kyle UNDERSTANDS that

we have seen a lot of really crazy things happen on the field each week this year

we could lose, but these Redskins' players and coaches want this game more than the eagles - they will not be denied

That, and this game is not in prime time. 24-18 Skins.

good call mate!

- can you imagine the scene at FedEx if the eagles have the ball, late in the 4th, with the Redskins leading by 4, 5 or 6

Thats a good point.. we do seem to embarrass ourselves on a national stage. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong, but It takes time to erase the enormous letdowns of the past.

Good call. I'm still concerned about Rex putting it up more than 25 times, though, especially long passes or with slow-developing patterns. I go into every game thinking that Rex will put the ball up for grabs at least twice, and the Eagles are always scary since they have a decent amount of quickness (but not much size or tackling ability) on defense.

I thought the same thing, but didn't respond, because I've seen the "not consistently competitive" thing from SJ so much, my eyes kind of glaze over when he writes it again.

I know how you love to nitpick things and I was tempted not to respond because most here understand ...

but ... I couldn't resist

so you think we can be consistently competitive offensively with Grossman and this offense?
The play calling and QB have left a lot to be desired

we are where we are in spite of the offense - we could be 5-0 if the offense had done a better job with the opportunities that the bumbling, stumbling pukes gave us

Fact is - I love the fact that we're 3-1 - we're going to be a consistently better team when we get the offensive issues resolved
