Eagles opening drive against the Ravens looked good. Vick was on the money. Eagles run defense looked good as well or the Ravens O line looked bad - it's pre-season.

3 kick-offs and three touchbacks - boring!

Finally some strategy on the 4th kick-off. Eagles kick it two yards deep and the Ravn's return it out to the 25. I guess it back fired for the Eagles.

Vince looked good leading the Eagles to a field goal on his first series.

The Jags returned a kick 90 yards to the Patriots 10. I don't expect the NFL to see a problem.

I remember the "olden days" when KO's were from the 40. There were KO returns then.

What are they feeding these kickers these days?

In the one series they played the Eagles blanketed the Ravens wideouts, but the Ravens appear to have found a new TE to replace Heap, Dennis Pitta. He made an outstanding catch over the back of the Eagle defender on the first offensive play for the Ravens. We will need big games from Cooley and Davis when we play the Eagles. They have some work to do in covering the underneath stuff.

Vick was sharp tonight in his one series. He marched the team right down the field for a TD. Young looked good with his legs, but he he clearly has some work to do. I was surprised he didn't play more.

Tyrod Taylor, for the Ravens, played extensively and got better as the game went on. He nearly had the game tying TD in the final minute, but the rookie receiver, for some inexplicable reason, jumped up in the air for a ball that was chest high and landed with both feet out of bounds. The TV commentator noted that the receiver was about a yard in bounds when he jumped. Both commentators were dumbfounded by what he did and said such. It would have been a storybook ending for Tyrod and the Hokie fans pulling for him, but he did show a lot of promise.

In the Ravens/Eagles game both teams were content with kicking the ball through the end zone except for one time, when the Eagles kicked it two yards deep. It appears that that was done purposely since he had no trouble booming the other out of the end zone.

If I remember correctly, the reason for moving the ball to the 30 for the kick off was to get more returns.

What was the reasoning for moving it forward to the 35?

Tyrod Yaylor is a player I wish we had drafted in the mid rounds.

The reason KO's were moved to the 35 was stupidity.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one annoyed by the constant touchbacks. They cited "player safety" as the reason for moving the kickoff marker. :?

Looks like Devin Hester and B Mitch's records are safe.

All the sports talk people are predicting 13-3 to 15-1 seasons. They are quite certain about it. They think Brent Celek will be the best TE in the NFC and that Vick will have a MVP type season. They are quite certain about it. They dismiss Atlanta, Dallas, Green Bay and the Giants as jokes who have no chance of beating them. They are quite certain of this.

I can't wait for the cold of December when the Eagles are underperforming or challenging an unchallengable play and the TV camera pans on the crowd and all the drunken Eagle fans are standing in their black and green winter clothes, mouths agape, wondering how in the world they are about to lose a game that they should win. The drunken idiot Eagle fans have whipped themselves into such a fury that only a Super Bowl win will pacify them and as we know the Eagles do not win Super Bowl's.

December?

I give them until October until their implosion is ignited

This is an "What to Watch for" for the Eagles against the Steelers tonight. Lot of questions marks on the O line. Thought Ryan Harris would be able to unseat the King at right tackle upon signing.

Right tackle King Dunlap, a third-stringer in Philly, gets to protect Michael Vick’s blind side. Perhaps the Eagles will take Vick out early if it’s not going well. … There is a position battle at center as well between Jamaal Jackson and Jason Kelce. … If rookie running back Dion Lewis is going to have a role on this team, he needs to have a big preseason. … The Eagles still don’t know what they have with rookie starting middle linebacker Casey Matthews. They hope to find out more. … DeSean Jackson makes his preseason debut.

Vick is looking like a High School QB with that bad read and he is lucky the ball was tipped on his first series or Troy would have had that one.

Vick Picked again! And was nearly picked sixed by Troy on the previous play!

From "What We Learned" Eagles vs Steelers:

2. Mike Vick doesn’t like the “Dream Team” label, then did his best to lower expectations for the team. Vick threw three picks in one half; Vince Young threw another.

4. Eagles rookie starting middle linebacker Casey Matthews may not be ready. Philly has to think about moving their linebackers around after a rough outing from Matthews. The Eagles defense couldn’t get off the field.

Sounds like they signed a bunch of big name guys that can't get on the same page.

Maybe they are on the same page... the page that says what they'll bee paid this year regardless of how they perform

Naw... They're just not on the same page but they'll gt there.

With that kin of money it might take a few years to get there, so I'm wondering who'll hav Andy Reid's job when they start to click.

OK you smart guys got me, I mean who'll be the coach after Reid is gone and they get out of cap trouble by cutting a lot of the guys they just signed.

Thn they'll be on the sam page (of a book that Shanny is re-witing)
