Washington Redskins, Cornerback

From: Carlos Rogers

To: Josh Wilson

2010 Grade: -4.5 (Rogers) to +13.0 (Wilson)

The Upgrade: Rogers isn’t a terrible player (even though he has terrible hands), but Wilson has something special about him. Despite only getting into the Ravens team halfway through the season, he played well enough to earn our fifth highest grade of all cornerbacks. He also only allowed 46.9% of balls thrown his way to be complete, compared to Rogers’ 69.4%.

Football is a team sport. I think the Ravens had a slightly better pass rush & maybe better play from the safeties.
True it is a team sport. The Ravens traded for the Josh Wilson who was playing very well in Seattle who finshed

2007 - 10-6
2008 - 4-12
2009 - 5-11

Wilson played well there despite the poor play of the Seahawks in 2008 and 2009. He was a rising star until he became expendable because Marcus Trufant returned to health and the development of their Rookie corner. He picked up, in Baltimore, right where he left off in Seattle.

Finally, Josh Wilson has proven that he can catch the ball and, more than that, score with it.

Wilson was a second-round draft pick in 2007 and had six interceptions in the past two seasons, returning three of those for touchdowns.

He also has been one of the team’s primary kickoff return men, though Leon Washington figures as a likely replacement there.

The trade is a bit of a stunner given Wilson figured as a prominent member of the Seahawks’ defense this season, but the team is confident in Thurmond and ex-Husky Roy Lewis to fill the backup roles behind starters Trufant and Jennings.

Wilson is a short corner at 5-foot-9, but has excellent speed and seemed like one of Seattle’s building blocks in the secondary. He had been alternating time with Jennings over the course of preseason, but seemed destined for a large role for a third straight season.

FYI, the Ravens had 27 sacks last year.

The Redskins had 29. Think on that one :)
