ESPN New York's Rich Cimini calls free agent Braylon Edwards a "good bet" to sign with the Redskins following Santonio Holmes' return to the Jets.

Cimini reported earlier in the week that the Redskins were recruiting both receivers. Unless they overwhelm Edwards with an offer, the 'Skins could receive competition from the loser of the Sidney Rice derby.

Well that would check off one thing from my list.
Spud the prophet???

Someone else mentioned his name but I'd throw Grimes from ATL in that DB convo too my friend.
I like Grimes too. Isn't he the little stud man, ball hawk guy...???

Additions:

Stephen Bowen, DE, 27
Barry CofieLd, DT/NT, 27
Josh Wilson, CB, 26

Chris Chester, C/OG, 28
Kellen Clemens, QB, 28
Jabbar Gaffney, WR, 31
Donte Stallworth, WR, 31

Subtractions:

Phillip Daniels, DE 38
Jeremy Jarmon, DE, 23
Fat Al, Bench, 30
Maake Kemoeatu, NT, 32

Andre Brown, RB, 24
Donovan McNabb, QB, 34
Casey Rabach, C, 34
Chad Simpson, RB, 25
Roydel Williams, WR, 30

Josh Bidwell, P, 35
Sam Paulescu, P, 27

By my count, since yesterday, we have added 7 players in FA or trades, with at least 4 of them starters. We also have released or traded 11 players, with only one that was a full time starter last year (Rabach). The average age of the additions is 28.3 years. The average age of the departures is 30.2 years. Also, if you exclude Brown, Jarmom, and Simpson the average age is 32.5. So in my view we have already improved our personnel and have players who are 2-4 years younger.

Yep, getting younger and less talented. Gotta make a run at that #1 pick next year and it may take a 1 win season to get there. Can't be too talented or we might luck into 3-4 wins and ruin the plan.

...but the Redskins are making lots of judicious-looking moves to fill their holes. Not the big, splashy moves for which they've become known in ill-fated offseasons past, but smart, directed moves that reflect where they are in their rebuilding and the idea that they're thinking long-term.

You're the only person who thinks we aren't moving in the right direction.
