If Brian had a Cowboys jersey he would be a national god already. Go ahead and tell me that it's not true.
Dock's a straight ahead power guy. I don't know how much he has left to put on the field but it's wrong to diminish what the guy is.
By now he's probably more demoralized than the Dockery that hit DC as rookie, but how should that limit his value to other teams a year ago?
You're dead on that Buffalo overpaid him. I was happy enough to see him go there just because I thought he was going to make more money that he was worth as a Redskin. I hated to lose him but his price was too high.
WCO's need 4 Tackles on the Line. Dock's not one of those. Take a couple years off of him and the Patriots would grab him up.
But that value is gone. Derrick has 8 years in the League. He maybe has 2 left. He's fill in, carry over, player like Pete Kendall was when he was with us. He's only worth the investment to a team ready to take a vertical offense into a Super Bowl push and one of those years is likely burned up with a Lock Out season.
Last year was the year to get value for him. It's a little late now.
Thanks, coach Mike. Dummy.
You can't trade a guy with a bloated contract. The team who trades for him has to take on the contract.
Much better defense of Dock on this post. I can't agrue with you on this one. One thing we both agree on is that we hope that Dock does end up in a place where he can used to the best his talents.
I don't see Coach Mike as a dummy, but I certaintly do agree that he does some questionable things. I think he saw Dock for what Dcok is, but I don't like the way, Mike handled situation. My philosophy is you play to the strenght of your players, but I am not a coach and I will look forward to Mike aquiring 53 guys that have a work ethic that spell a winning program here. Before, I start calling any of our coach a dummy, I want to see if his program produces success. Coach Mike is not going anywhere soon, so cheer on the Burgundy and Gold and wish him success even if you don't like him because his success is our success. Hail to the Redskins.
As fans we're allowed to like OR not like players for any number of reasons
I have nothing against Dockery - I choose to be glad that he's not a part of the Redskins - Dockery got what he deserved IMO
If he can play somewhere else, that's fine and if he never plays again that's OK too
no matter what - I'm glad that Dockery is not playing here
I am not at all happy about how Mike & Bruce have done so far OR the jobs that Kyle and Jim have done as OC and DC - HOWEVER they are in charge here now and they offer the only chance for us to see any progress here - what they do in the near future determines the future for themselves or whoever comes in here
I'm a fan of whoever is trying to play for or coach this franchise with an attitude and determination to be as good as they can be
Dockery did not fit into those parameters
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

It's worse than that for me. There was no shortage of film on Dock. How is it that Shanahan was not able to evaluate the guy and get some trade value before last season even began?
What mystery is it that Mike's Offense is horizontal and his O-Line has to have lateral ability?
Mike's a solid coach but he still baffles me as a personnel/GM guy. He has made mostly mistakes.
Dock will land somewhere and I'll be cheering for him there. Great guy.
Dock was cut by the Bills. There was a reason. The Bills found out that Dock was an inconsistent player. Lacks the concentration to be a consistently high caliber guard. At times, he plays like an All-Pro at others he plays like he is thinking of something else. Shanny saw the the upside to Dock and that is why he didn't cut him.
I listened to Dock's interview last week. He admits that he didn't play up to speed at times. That interview was not the words of a hungry football player who will do whatever it takes to start, but I am not surprised, because I am a Texas Longhorn Fan and know Dock from his UT days. There is a reason Dock was a 3rd round pick and not a 1st and that reason lingered on into his pro career. Two plays that stick out in my mind that tell the story of Dock's career. I saw him pancake Kris Jenkins in a Carolina pre-season game in 2005. He hit Jenkins from angle and totally flattened him. That is the road grader side of Dock. Against Dallas in 2006, on a 4th and 1 on Dallas goal line, Dock pulled and had a one-on-one block with a Dallas LB. Dock couldn't get his feet going and got stuffed by a no name Dallas LB on a crucial play. Portis failed to score. These plays fit the scouting report on Dock coming out of college.
Shanny doesn't just bench a player for no reason. Shanny looks for players with a strong work ethic and he looks for that ethic in practice. If he sees a smaller guy working his tail off in practice over the bigger guy. The smaller guy plays, period. He doesn't just abandon the big guy, he talks with him and shows him on film what is keeping him from starting.
Is this the best coaching philosophy? It is not mine, but it is Shanny's and lo and behold, he has managed to win two Super Bowls with it. Will he do it here? He is the coach so we will have to watch and see and with the contract he has - you can bet he gets at least 3 years to try.
About trading Dock - there is no way a team trades for an inconsistent guard with that contract.
Dock will catch on with another team, but with the right fit offense and appropriate contract for his level of play.

Yup, the same reason O.J. started 16 games and Dock failed to even be activated for half the games and had a undersized guard who is a center beat him out. Not a good comparison - much different situations at the time of release. Dock's a great guy and I understand the support but he had his struggles on the field as a consistent player long before Shanahan came around. Now, if you want to make a better argument here's one for you. O.J. was let go for money, but there were deficiencies in his play that caused the Rams to say he wasn't worth that much. For a lower salary, they would have kept him; however, in the Bills, case they were disappointed with Dockery. if you really followed Dock's career from college through the pros you would know why. Even for a lower salary, they wouldn'thave kept him. O.J. is not a top ten safety in most rankings, but he has great ball hawking skills and her is the key - Haslett knows that he can do what he is asked to do in this defense. He had his best years under Haslett. Dockery, could not do what was asked of him in this offense. Why didn't Mike cut him? Because he saw the same highlight film that the Biils saw when they gave him that huge contract, if Dock could put consistency in his play, he would be an All-Pro - Shanahan hoped to get that out of him. The Bills hoped to get that out of him. Buges stayed with him, but if you would have heard Dock's interview, Bugs stayed on him and they went at it quite a bit.
Do your homework and check out the reports on Dock from college to his release from the Bills.
One thing Mike has come in here and done is hold players accountable for what they do or do not do. Of course you missed the Dock interview a couple of week's ago where he admitted that he "didn't play up to speed at times" - Dock's words. Of course, I missed the one where Dock said that he was beating down the doors and anything in his way to get his job back.

I never understood MS's decision to not start DD -- personally, I think it is evidence of MS's ego, but I am sure that many (wearing their burghandy & gold colored glasses) here will disagree with that.
DD is a good guy and I wish him luck in the future. He's got a few good years left in him, so I am sure we'll see him on the field come next season.
Wow! You tripled your point and I defintely hear you.
You took the words right out of my keyboard!
Take a good look at the last sentence. http://msn.foxsports.com/home/story/Der ... ing-Report
Yes, the same reason the Rams cut Atogwe. MONEY!
I'm not comparing the talent of the 2, only the fact that they (& many others) are cut more for financial reasons than their play.
