I told you you all ... this Shanahan clan is bad news ... they've shown their ugly a few times this year, and does anyone who hasn't dropped LSD into their coffee this morning think that Grossman gives the Redskins a better chance to beat the Cowboys or ANYBODY ELSE ? UFB

And I'm sorry ... but calling this an "evaluation" move just isn't a legitimate argument ... 1) the organization has a responsibility to the people who pay the freaking bills 2) this is not an away game against buffalo, it's the Cowboys and 3) If you expect your players to go out there and give 110% for the remainder of the season, why should the coaching be any different ... shouldn't they be held to the same standards?

Here's what La Canfora reported:

Players are upset by the move, as I reported all week they would be, if the benching occurred.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is using McNabb as a scapegoat, according to multiple Redskins players. His credibility has been questioned by players and members of the staff, according to team and league sources.

"The guys are extremely pissed," one Redskins player told me.

Cheers to nepotism at it's finest ... Kyle was behind the Detroit benching, and apparently, no lessons were learned by that fiasco ... other than the fact that McNabb was the only one who acted professionally during and afterward ....

It's not like I have an axe to grind or was against Shanahan ... true my first choice was Gruden ... but with him not available, I thought Shanahan was the best coach out there, and was totally in favor of his hire.

That's turning out not to be a mistake unfortunately ... I place him in no better category than I do Zorn or Spurrier at this point ... in fact, put aside the resume' and tell me how much better has he done than Zorn's 1st year at 8-8?

You obviously don't judge a coach just on a 1st year record or what fans think ... but when you have players and staff questioning the credibility ... you've got a major red flag, coupled with really blatant bad decisions ... MANY BAD DECISIONS

And this mismanagement is blatant .... you trade two picks for McNabb ... and insult him in Detroit. You sign him to a big deal, then bench him again? And on the heels of one of his better games? The man drove the team down the field last week to tie the game with a few seconds left, for crying out loud, and had a passer rating over 100 ! (Cardio vascular endurance and playbook issues?) If this were Cerrato and Snyder doing this crap ... there would be no questions or benefits of doubt given ... everyone would be screaming bloody murder, and justifiably so.

So, the heck with the "benefit of the doubt" stuff .... let's call a spade a spade here ... or an embarrassment an embarrassment.

This makes no sense. I don't want to hear "hey at least we get a better draft position." Sorry this team should have pride. Put the team that has the best chance to win out there, play hard, and if you lose then you lose, but at least you tried. As Herm Edwards once said, You play to win the game!

What bothers me about this is are the reports that the locker room is upset and divided. He had to lose some of their respect with his move in Detroit and now he pulls this. We are still a laughing stock.

This is a terrible way to start a regime. Dividing a locker room, having players that don't like the OC.

Give it a rest already. The clue might be that "players are pissed" or "players and staff are questioning the credibility" or "Kyle Shanahan is using McNabb as a scapegoat, according to the players"

What do you need? A player STRIKE or a hostage situation ?

6th in yards, 25th rating, 26th TD-Int ratio, 27th comp.%.

It doesn't really matter we lose a 3rd and a 4th any way.

I agree with you about the drama, but can't figure the other part out. First, we already resigned him. Second, this in no way guarantees he won't be back. Hell, if Grossman sucks, he may be back in this game.

You think that McNabb comes back in if Grossman "grosses" it up? I think Beck comes in to "evaluate" him.

Shanny, as I've said from the first, has always been known as a guy who knows zip about personnel, and now he's lived up to his reputation in regard to player acquisition, playing guys in the right places, and now this. I do wish however he were living up to his rep as a competent field manager. I hope he's a lesson to everyone in reality. The passion with which he was first embraced by the fan base was sickening. He needs to go. If McNabb's on the bench or gone, we end up with a team that's appreciably worse than last year's, which could at least play defense. Cambell's clearly better than Rexy, who's about on the bottom of the heap as far as NFL quarterbacks go.

I did read that, but that's not synonymous with he's lost the respect of the locker room. It's not even close to meaning the same thing

BREAKING NEWS ... Louden County Sheriffs are reporting that several Redskin players and assistant coaches have taken Kyle Shanahan hostage at Redskin Park ... their demands have not yet been made ... but according to some sources, it is believed to be associated with the Benching of Donovan McNabb.

Redskins officials on the scene are saying the two incidents are unrelated, and may be due to the selection of the inflight movie choices for their trip to Dallas of, Gone With The Wind, and the Longest Yard. Some say the latter reminded them too much of the Eagles game.

Sorry KAZOO, Im gonna have to disagree. If people are pissed about the move in the locker room, it means they are siding with McNabb, not Shanny. To me this means that Shannahan has lost the locker room.

Problem is, this isn't Grossman's fault. In Detroit, he was put into a bad situation ... and now, with his lack of mobility, they decide to put him in against that Cowboy pass rush? He's going to be murdered, and if you think the team is upset now ... just wait till after the trouncing on Sunday ... with the likelihood that McNabb will have to come in as they cart Grossman off the field in a stretcher anyway.

My point was if we knew he wasnt the long term answer, we should have atleast NOT resigned him, let him walk, and taken the suppl. pick for him leaving. Of course I will eat crow if we get a higher pick for him from someone in the offseason. I guess you are right that he could be back in, but after benching him AGAIN I cant imagine he stays here. Now his agent is telling reporters about how we have disrespected him. I dont see him coming back, and his trade value has now been tarnished. Lets hope we can get something for him

I agree its not Grossmans fault, and also agree he will probably get killed in Dallas. I weas just talking about the Boos directed at Shannahan. Since the game is in Dallas, they will probably give him a standing O.

I hate to break the OBVIOUS news to you .... but, as always ... I'M SIDING WITH THE TEAM ... and against the "regime".

But as is typical, the OBVIOUS isn't so obvious to some people.

You're an establishment guy ... I understand that from other topics ... your version of patriotism a classic parallel to this.

I'm with the players ... in my opinion THAT IS THE TEAM ... not Dumb and Dumber standing on the sidelines.

So let's take as a given that Shanahan has lost the locker room.

The question: does it matter? How many of those 53 do you think deserve to be here in two years? four years? The sad fact is that morale doesn't matter on a team that needs to be rebuilt, because rebuilding gets you a new team anyway.

McNabb vs. Grossman has been a wash all season, as it's pretty clear that neither should be relied on as an unquestioned starter in 2011. If playing Grossman doesn't answer the McNabb question, but just answers whether Grossman deserves a roster spot next year, that's a win. A small one, but progress works that way sometimes.
