Mike says - he thought about benching McNabb for injuries to his lower body before the week started.
Says he decided BEFORE the game that Donovan would not be in the game if there was a 2 minute scenario with no timeouts. Because he 1) hadn't practiced it, 2) cardio wasn't right.
Asked if Grossman practiced it. He said no.
Pressed about that contradiction, said that they practiced in OTA's and Grossman knows it.
Pressed about why even have McNabb out there if you weren't going to have him in there due to cardio and injuries for 2 minute.
Didn't really answer.
Asked why he didn't say this yesterday, when he said it was terminology. Says because he didn't want to go into injury detail.
Asked if he told anyone about his pre-game decision to bench him for 2 minute. He says No.
Asked if he told Donovan that's why he was being pulled. He says No.

He's giving jumbled answers and throwing McNabb further under the bus. Says that he has two hamstring injuries and bruised quad. That's why he couldn't do 2 minute.

Asked: "Mike, if you said Dock and Kory were close in competition. Well Kory has struggled every week. Have you considered bringing Dock back, and if not, why?" Says that Lichensteiger is better than Dockery. Point Blank. If Dock was better he would be out there.

Mike....
Man... What do you even say after this press conference. I can't believe anything he's saying.

Asked about Randy Moss. "Says they will consider him."
Asked what he sees in Joey Galloway. Says offense on the whole is bad.
He says Joey Galloway has done a good job and he is pleased with him.

What a pile of crap. The more Mike talks, the more he sinks as if he were in quicksand.
You mean to tell me that the cardio was a problem and for THAT reason you left him for ALL but the last 2 minutes of the game???
And you expect ANYBODY to believe that crap?
Come on Mike, you are too smart for that. If Donovan has cardio issues, you know he would not be playing any time even for preventive reasons.
Now, you have more questions to answer than you had in the first place. An admission of responsibility and perhaps an apology to fans and players would have sufficed. Now ... CREDIBILITY and TUST are at stake.

How does McNabb play with cardio issues but big Al doesn't ?

Mike...
Man, I'm still at a loss for words. He's lost my faith, honestly. What a disgusting move. What a disgusting series of moves. I've said for a long time that he MISHANDLED Haynesworth, that he's allowed his inflated EGO to set us back in that regard.
Yesterdays loss is COMPLETELY MIKES FAULT. He wasn't blocking, passing or anything leading up to the last possession but what he did was ROB THE TEAM OF A CHANCE.
He.... PUT REX IN?!?! REX?!!? REX....
McNabb ran 30+ yards, longer than any RB by our RB's and set up an offensive TD and Mike is worried bout his cardio. THAT'S A LOAD!!! A STEAMING LOAD.
And if he's lost us, he's lost the team.

Exactly. How does Grossman get into better football shape than Donovan holding a clipboard and running with the Scout Team.

Yet, Fat Albert missed one week for a funeral and he's "out of football shape"??
We might as well sign Randy Moss. The locker room is blown. Thanks Mikey.

It's funny how Shanahan's ego is so big he thinks he can lie to everyone and have 3 different excuses for his actions and we will believe him because he is Mike Shanahan.
I love B Mitch. He is officially my favorite radio/TV guy. He calls it like he sees it and doesn't care who he is calling out.

Agreed. The truth. O' where for art thou? I know he may underestimate the intelligence of everyone but his son. But, the fanbase and his locker room can smell bull$h.t. WOW. What a crock.
EPIC FAIL. He has no character. I suspect an extramarital affair scandal to surface in 5....4....3....2.....

I feel like a spouse who just caught the other cheating. All they wanted was an admission and apology perhaps. But, more lies that are obviously lies. Mike, you have lipstick on your collar, a chicks bra in your SUV, and condom wrapper in your pocket. Just admit it bro. Just admit it.

I'm sick of the "football shape" excuse. He used it as an excuse for Portis not playing in 2 weeks even if he is healthy. Just put him into block, he doesn't need to be ready to run a marathon. You guys nailed all the big points. How is a guy that has thrown 9 passes in the past year in better shape than McNabb? How is McNabb's hamstring an issue after he busts off a 30 yard run with no problem and no trainers gave him any special attention on the sideline?

What hurts me and yes I say hurt, I am honestly hurt because... I thought for the first time in my life as a fan that I'd see change. I'd see progress, growth and solidity in this franchise.
I just have a hard time believing in it Mike at this point. He's a liar. People couldn't get pass Albert's faults to see the true size of this dude's ego. I even ignored the truths coming out of Denver but this just takes the cake.

He is livid now too. Says he believed in Shanny until this. He wonders how he could say that today when McNabb was not getting any attention from the trainers all day and wasn't limping or anything. Says his mom always told him, "any time a person gives you two different stories for the same thing, they are lying." The truth stays the same. This was obviously a sell job - but it makes no sense to even a casual fan.
Rex was not even warming up at the end of the first half when "two minute" was a possiblity. Nor was he warming up before the coach told him to go in.

I'm not that dumb Mikey.

I heard the same things and thought it was just a bitter fan base. But, this guy has the character of a teenage criminal on The First 48. Dude, you're on video breaking into the Chipotle. Yet, you're denying it.

You sir have lost my trust.

Donovans escapability is the ONLY REASON WE HAVEN'T BEEN SLAUGHTERED!
It WAS the REASON we were in the game. What did he think Rex was going to do?!?!

Would we be 1-7 without him? Maybe 2-6 with wins vs the Bears and Cowboys. I think so.

Not that I agree with the decision to pull DM, because I don't, but didn't McDrabb get a spark lit when Reid did that to him in that game with Kolb? I am not sure. Did he improve after that move was made? If so, maybe MS is just trying to light that fire. The difference, of course, is that he had a better O-line there. Payton Manning would struggle with our line.

You don't light A FIRE WITH THE FREAKING GAME ON THE LINE!!! WITH ONE MINUTE IN THE GAME!!!
You light a fire at the START of the 3rd quarter.

This is really a major mess and it's all on Mike - he has to get this straightened out or we are going to have the stupid owner getting involved again
I'm very disapointed he did not take more responsibility for what happened - he has 2 weeks to get this group into shape - if he loses the locker room over this he will not get the opportunity to go much further here
I could care less about the fat slob (he's gone ASAP) OR the stupid offensive line - we all knew (well most of us) that we had the worst offensive line in the NFL - we need to get a lot younger here - we are now in danger of undoing anything good that has happened and that's very worrying with an owner with an ego like DS

@Ray (what's up Buddy!!!!), we disagreed last year on Campbell but I think we are in agreeance on this. Yes, I saw the progression visual put up on the screen and it's flip-flopped here. So combine that with a make shift OL, and you got what you got yesterday and in weeks past.
But here, IMO, are a few things that I see about how this team is run.
1. Just like Philly got rid of Donovan for a reason, so did Pat Bolen dump Shanny for a reason.
2. What you guys saw yesterday, with Albert, with Devin and with Dock is all EGO and it's to the detriment of the this football team and the fans who thought that change was coming. Remember #56 and how he was handled? How different is Devin, Dock, and Albert. Devin was at one time returning kicks getting pretty good yards and suddenly he's gone.
Dock, I don't know what happened with him but Lichenstieger is not the answer. Dock's a veteran and would at least give you something based on experience more than Cory.
The EGO allowed Haslett to take a defense that was consistently top 10/20 for the past several seasons and turn them into bottom 10. You stay in a 4-3 not to appease Albert but this is what this group of guys have been very good at for the past several seasons. Staying the 4-3 would have stopped the Albert drama or would have put everyone on Shanny's side had they stayed with the 4-3 and Albert did what he did.
The EGO goes into games with only 2 running backs, a serviceable veteran OLman in street clothes and the thought that REX could win you a game after sitting for 58 1/2 minutes and no protection because you think he knows the terminology.

If he were trying to light a fire, why not do it at halftime, before the game even. But with 1:45 seconds left to go??
This excuse is a load of B.S. Why on earth would you have Donovan play a whole game and then say he doesn't have the cardiovascular endurance to finish the last minute 45 seconds? And, to not have told Donovan this yesterday?

All you can do is laugh.
