Kilmer72 wrote:Actually MS did. He said something like this can't be done over night. Maybe not those exact words but he did say something to that extent. You do not have to like Kyle that is ok. I don't blame you I just see people getting open and for what it is worth I see him dealing with way harder competition compared to years past.
Over night is one thing. This team looks no better to me than the clowns did last year under Zorn. Outside of the Special Teams return and coverage units there isn't a unit on this team that I am happy with right now. I'm not saying MS didn't say something to that effect, but obviously I missed it.
I'm not interested in open receivers. I'm interested in seeing this team go out and DOMINATE their opponents from beginning to end. Something I haven't seen this team do in 19+ years.
Kilmer72 wrote:If he said "We don't have the talent or cohesion to win now." then we can't grow as a team. Instead he was saying don't expect too much this year without really saying it.
Personally, I don't want to see most of these guys "grow". I want to see them dumped on the side of the road or in the trash can like dirty diapers.
Kilmer72 wrote:Let me put it this way. If your boss said we can't get this done how hard are you going to work?
Actually, the department I work in is in trouble right now simply because my boss will not set realistic limitations on what we can do and has continued to agree to take on more and more responsibilities and projects from other departments without enough personnel and time to complete them. I'd actually like him to step up and tell the rest of the company that we can't handle everything that they've thrown at us.

Good lord is this a lame thread. A bunch of people losing their minds after one game. Simmer down.
Do I hate losing as much as anyone? Yes. Did I throw my remote when McNabb threw an INT with 4 minutes left in the 4th with a 5 point lead? Yes. Did I ever think that this team would be as competitive as they have been this year? Absolutely not. This is going to take a ton of time and this year has actually been pretty entertaining.
Guys, the reason I chart the offense is to truly understand how the playcalling changes throughout a game. I would suggest it to each and every one of you. To blame this on Kyle or Mike, McNabb or Haslett is foolish. We lost our RB and you should have seen the change in gameplan mid-game with an undrafted rookie. Kyle was brilliant. Mcnabb didn't execute very well.
I was going to go into a rant on some of these earlier posts, but it's really not worth it. All I'm going to say is give it time. 3 years minimum. If you don't have the patience, find another team. It's going to take a while. This team is well coached, and well managed right now. We need better players, and with what was left behind by Cerrato, it's going to take a while...not 8 games. Most teams who were winning big 20 years ago, are bottom of the barrel right now and visa versa. That's the way it goes. We'll be back, and when it happens, it'll feel awesome. Just had it happen to me with the Blackhawks. It had been well over my age since their last Stanley Cup.

Actually I don't think it is a lame thread. You said it best when you admitted you threw your remote. I would like to hear your rant though. I like the fact you said 3 years that is what I expect. This is a place to post your opinions so I want to hear it. If I don't agree I don't but some how I have a feeling I will because your expectations are probably where mine are and many others are. If not maybe we can all learn something.
Some here are taking this to be the end of the world type of thing. I used to get so hyped over a big win in the 70s and 80s and even early 90s...Last year I decided that I would take a 3rd person view instead of getting wrapped up in a emotional situation. I hate being depressed over a silly game but I am addicted to it. Sorry, but that is how it is or was. Now, I look at it as a silly game but I am still trapped in it. lol One day at a time...Haha I am joking but really it is a good thread because it has been half a season at this point.
When do we as fans evaluate the team? After 4 years? If we had a coach that could last that long and QB at the same time then I would say then.... Until we have stability we will have threads like this.
Oh, also you are right this year is competitive. Even if we lose all the rest of our games as long as we are in it and show progress then I am all for it.
Don't lose sleep guys...

Not going to waste my time ripping each post about spitting in Kyle's face if I saw him, or throwing out players like dirty diapers or something to that effect, or about how we are the same team as every year. I don't have the time to combat foolishness, but here's my rant so listen up. You can evaluate the team whenever you want. In fact, if you have not seen progress with this team already, you are not paying attention. The discipline, the attitude, the agressiveness, the competiveness is all much improved this year with virtually the same team, but yet with a completely new offensive and defensive scheme. We've already won as many games as last year in half the time. Is that not progress? We lead the league in takeaways after being dead last in 2009...is that not progress? Our defense, even though it had to change the complete scheme and the fact that we do not have the personel to play a 3-4 yet is better than last years unit except in yards against (which I could care less about). Is that not progress?
Some people are getting hell bent over the offensive woes. I mean, what did some of these people think was going to happen this year with this offense? We have a free agent WR starting who is (I think) leading the team in total receiving yards over the past 3 weeks, a RB who was on the practice squad at the beginning of the year (and now that he is down, an undrafted Rookie) starting, a new QB who is learning a new offense, an offensive line which is composed of mostly back-ups (except for Williams). I mean, let's be real guys? If anyone thought for real that we were going to have a team that is 4-4 at the turn is kidding themselves....and thus wasting my time. We are a bad team, and it's only because of coaching...and coaching alone that we are where we are right now. If you want to learn about the how the offensive game is called for real instead of sitting on your couch and listening to what the commentators tell you to say, then look at my thread charting the offense, and come up with some sound reasons why the playcalling is bad, because it isn't. It just flat isn't and it's stupid for anyone to make that assessment without knowing two licks about game calling.
So IF ...I say again IF you want this coaching staff to be fired and overhauled like every other year that you have been a fan so that we can continue to head down this path of misery, and muddle in mediocracy, keep throwing rediculous statements out there and hopefully for your sake, Dan starts to take notice and actually acts upon them. Careful what you wish for. I can say that, because I live in Bears country and I would hate to have this organization as the one I follow.
I for one...and hopefully the vast majority, will sit back and have chalked this year up to growing pains, because we have the right formula this time, we just need a few years to let it grow. I have realistic expectations of a team that should be 5-11 this year, pull out an 8-8 season BECAUSE of Kyle, Mike and Haslett. So get off your woe is me soap box and stop thinking we're a 12-4 team at the start of every year only to have it blow up in your face and come on here and freak out about one game. We were 4-12 last year. This team is on the right path.

I disagree. While he shouldn't be involved in the day-to-day operations, after a game like this one (and all of them this year), the GM and HC ought to be spending some very uncomfortable time in front of Mr. Snyder's desk tomorrow morning answering some very tough questions if they want to retain their positions with this team.
It's the half way point in their first season on the job. The Redskins are 4-4 coming off a 4-12 season, they would be 5-3 if they had a QB that knew better than throw into double coverage while babysitting a lead late in the fourth quarter. I know he was knocked around a lot but come on.
The Oline was a leaking like Niagra Falls, but it's McNabb's fault. Got it.

Great post Chief!!!! I think we can all agree with your feelings buddy.
Now.. "awful word team".. first lemme laugh because I thought that was funny. Me however, I don't hate it at all because for me it's not even an option. If we go 1-15, I still love um and won't hate myself for it.. I have no choice but to love these guys because that's my team, point blank period.

Over a decade of defeats, ridicule and misery is taking its toll on all fans.
We obviously have several important holes in the team which prevent us from winning consistently. I always maintained that it will take time. Too many damaged good were inherited from the Snyder / Cerrato era. It is IMPOSSIBLE to re-make a team in a single offseason under the current NFL rules.
However, the worst that could have happened to me yesterday was NOT the loss. I can live with it ... albeit painfully.
The worst that happened to me was the severe lack of good judgment by Mike Shannahan to handle the loss at the end of the game and in front of the media. I thought much more of him. Now, I have doubts where I had only questions and mostly trust before.

I actually like this coaching staff. As opinionated as I've been with switching to the 3-4, I think it's the right move, just get more players who can play this system before you do it.
I also like the philosophy that Kyle brings to the table and I love the vertical passing game, the one thing I haven't seen in 10 yrs with the Skins.
We just need to get better players to execute.

Agreed... sort of... one way, or the other, the team is going to struggle. Almost all teams do when making the switch... you cannot possibly turn over all of the talent you need to in one season... so, you bite the bullet for a while, whether you start changing the talent while playing a 4-3... and stink... or start playing a 3-4 before you have all of the talent needed... and stink. Most teams making the switch have some problems...
