FYI, George Allen did design the distinctive helmet but he had nothing to do with the uniforms and the switch to "cherry red and yellow".
As noted previously the color switch -- which holds to this day -- was a Lombardi thing.
I think there needs to be some kind of hybrid that maintains the circle-head logo and the pre-Lombardi colors.
The helmet as my avatar is one idea of how that could be done. Here's another from sportslogos.net:

I also like that pick put up by CLL. I think gold pants would be pretty nice -- as long as they have some burgandy down the leg. I am all for it.
You have to with straight burgandy socks though. The stripes look awful. And stick with burgandy helmets. The gold helmets could help the QB in passing (one of the reasons why the U of Michigan has stripes on their helmets), though.

For now it'll remain the same, I actually heard it on the radio last week when someone called in and asked about it. Actually, I shouldn't say remain the same, more like they don't plan on adding any other variations unfortunately.
