Serious denial.

No defense of Rose who I agree still doesn't fully accept responsibility, but the reporter was a putz as well. He kept ignoring Rose's answer and asking the question based on his own view. A better interviewer would have actually listened to the answers and built on them rather then sticking to his script.

If Jackson isn't eligible for the Hall... why in the world should Rose be?

Where does it say that you don't?

Ok you got me there. If the Hall of fame committee says there should be a certain type of character to get into the hall then fine. They should have it written in stone.

If the Hall of fame guys who are of good character keep him out for those reasons then fine. It would be a shame to see a steroid user get in before the best pure hitter of all time.

The best hitter of all time was Ty Cobb.

Rose hit a live ball, Cobb hit a bean bag. Of course Cobb was also the biggest horses rear end of all time...

But seriously, it's not just about having good character, it's about his specifically disgraced the game itself. He bet on games. Games he was coaching. Games he was making decisions in. It brings into question the whole legitimacy of those games. To just describe that as a "character" issue and ignore that really just misses the point.
