You guys aren't excited about this??? Do you guys not understand that we just landed a 6 time Pro Bowl QB whose gone to the NFC Championship 4 times with mediocre talent.
We have had Jason Campbell, Patrick Ramsey, Danny Wuerferel, Jeff George, Tony Banks, Mark Brunell, Todd Colins, Heath Shuler???
Are you guys seriously thinking we took a step back?

we shall see.....

Eagles must not think he'll hurt them twice a year.

A band aid is not what we need. We need a complete offensive overhaul that is going to sustain us for many years. McNabb is just a stop gap that will get murdered behind our O-line.

who cares what team he "retires" with? - This is a huge upgrade for this team at the QB position - McNabb might play for another 3 years - this is all just part of the remaking of this franchise
you don't remake a franchise my trading away multiple draft picks for a player that will be 34 years old. one step forward, two steps back.

I hear we might be trading McNabb and our 4th overall to the Rams in order to trade up to the 1 spot for Bradford. But, thats just a rumor through a friend of mine who is an agent, so I wouldn't put much into that just yet.

I really don't like this. I thought the Skins were going to try to rebuild, but this move shows me that they're actually thinking they can compete, now.
McNabb will be 34 in November, and is playing on the last year of his contract. We need to get an extension in place, ASAP.

Not if you don't believe Campbell is adequate for the next two years, and you don't believe a rookie will be stepping in to play for the next 2 years anyway. We still may draft a QB this year, or next year...but now we can actually have a shot at winning some games as opposed to just hoping Jason gets us to the next level.

I agree. I suspect the thinking is that we either 1) were not going to land Bradford, and 2) whoever we could acquire would not be able to help us for at least a couple of years. Why not get McNabb for the next couple of years and have a legitimate shot at winning in the meantime until the future leader takes over.
Campbell was finished, and I doubt Shanahan thought Clausen or Lefevour could step in this year. Or perhaps we are going to trade Campbell or McNabb to the Rams to get into the 1 spot. Who knows but I'm not upset by this at all.

I believe this is part of a package for St. Louis that will not include #4; there's no way to tell how it will go down but by opening day McNabb will be Ram and Bradford a Skin.

Trading a 2nd round pick plus for an over 30 player has a familiar ring to it.

ey better NOT be a part of that package. They can have Landry for all I care..... I'll donate my jersey to Goodwill.

Do you guys not remember that McNabb just lead to the Eagles to the NFC Championship against the Arizona Cardinals? Can we get real now?? It's not like we've had a quarterback around here for a long long time.

We can't be too mad given that we've not had a legitimate Pro Bowl Quarterback since Mark Rypien. Besides, he's 34. This is more of a product of the reality that we can't draft Bradford at 4.

Is he a good player? Absolutely.
But is he old, injury prone, and prone to failure in tense moments (Hi Superbowl turf...VOMIT). Yes.
A high 2nd rounder should be a part of the team for many years. McNabb will not be.

A second and third rounder for a 33 year old QB? Wow, just wow. Nothing we can do about it now, but MAN. What a bad trade.
McNabb is a great QB, and he's got a chip on his shoulder but giving up the 5th pick in the 2nd round of the draft for a guy who MAYBE has 5 years left? Bad call. He's our QB now though, good ole' #5 and word is we were his preference, and the reason the Eagles would allow him to be traded to a rival. Let's make the most of it and draft Russell Okung!

I don't believe they brought in McNabb to trade him away - I do think he can help this franchise the next few years
we are not as close as some here think and we have a lot of moves and changes to make before this franchise will be consitently competitive again
recently we have upgraded both the RB and QB position and I do not think that any of the players at either of those positions are going to be a part of this franchise for many more years
we are better at QB and we are better at RB than we were last month

With all of our holes, it's going to be hard to draft a qb (while filling other needs) without a second rounder this year and a 3rd/4th next year.
