Frank,
As great as that would be, there is no chance of that happening. It is readily apparent that STL is going to draft Bradford and JC is completely and totally unproven -- and this going into his SIXTH YEAR!! No way they would not draft Bradford -- when the risk of JC is just as great as the risk of an unproven college QB.

It would be wonderful if this happened, but I don't think that even STL is that stupid.

Cariker + 3rd rounder for Carter + 6th rounder

The only thing that could stop these before it even starts is that Carter has a no trade clause. If he does not want to play in STL (understandibly) than he does not have to

While you do make quality points about the 3-4 and Carter, I wouldn't trade Carter for Cariker only because Carter is worth more. He is coming off a good year and, if we want to trade him, we should get full value for him.

Carriker is injury prone, which is a problem considering that Haynesworth isn't the healthiest player. If they both got hurt, this could create problems much like we saw with the OL last year. In addition to that, he has done NOTHING in the NFL. The fact he had a couple good years in college (at a different position) doesn't cut it for me -- and his rookie NFL season wasn't very good.

Whatever we might give up for Cariker I'd rather see spent helping the offense.

You're not going to get a 2nd or 3rd for Carter alone, much less with CArriker too.

Carriker would be good depth for a 3-4 line. Some scouts said he'd be a better 5-technique DE (3-4) than a one-gapper DT in a 4-3. The big question however, is health. He is young and entering the supposed prime of his career, but he's coming off a season ending injury and shoulder surgery. I think the Rams are ready to move in another direction. I don't think it will take much to pry him away. We might could get an extra pick by trading Carter for Carriker, but it'll be a late rounder.

If the price is right, Carriker might resurrect his career playing for his former DC Haslett but in a 3-4 system that suits his talents better.

How would we not get a 2nd or 3rd for Carter alone? The dude is coming off an 11 sack season and while he may be aging, he could go to a team and make an immediate positive impact. I will admit I don't know anything about Carriker, but if the coaches feel good about him, I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt until proven wrong. Carter is not a good fit in the 3-4 and I would rather get something for him then to let him flounder in a system that isn't meant for his style of play.

Soml;e, because no team will offer a 2nd or 3rd  Boldin just got traded for a 3rd and 4th (and maybe a 5th?). Carter is in his 30's, has just had his best season ever, which is good, but no team is expecting another 11 sacks from him this year. I actually could see Spanuolo taking an interest, but not for a 2nd or 3rd. 4th maybe. Carriker and change, maybe.
