I wouldn't mind if Colt got a fair shake either. I honestly believe Campbell was the starter under Zorn because Snyder force him to, due to Jason being a first round draft pick.

He'll get a chance, he will have to show much better decision making than he did last year against backups or 3rd stringers in the preseason. Its a shame since he played so well in the preseason the year before.

I think it's b/c Zorn tried to change him. He did well as a rook. He was garbage after a year under Zorn...I just don't think he regressed THAT much from being a rook.

Colt will (hopefully) be back...strong and better after having what was it? Back surgery, something that HE said he had been putting off for some time. Not effective if you're playing with a "handicap" like needing surgery.

At this point I would agree Colt should get the opportunity also. I just hope they sure up that O-line.

Truthfully, I wish he held onto Chase. It says a lot that Sean Payton has held onto him. Look where Sean is and where Zorn is...case closed.

I'm confused. Can somebody please explain WHY we need to have a plan for Brennan? What's the justification?

B/c some of us think that he showed promise and since we still have him (even though he was IR'd), we still hope he has at least one more shot at pre-season.

My plan is to have him to throw to the myriad of wanna be's who will show up for camp so we can ID the couple who will make it while saving the arms of the QBs who will make the team and then run his arse out of town with the majority who don't.

My bet is Colt will flourish somewhere, somehow.....in the NFL, if not the CFL. I like Colt of personality.

Nothing personally against him, but there's an endless list of low round and undrafted QB's who get a shot and only a very small percent of that group sticks around very long much less starts. And as I pointed out it's not just trying them out but you need extra QB's in camp to try out other positions. You can like him, but the odds are long and always were.

The Colt love is weird, but oddly normal for the Redskins. I've lived and worked in the areas of the Giants, Jets, Lions, Falcons, 49ers, Raiders, Patriots and Bengals and never seen anything like the 3rd string QB fixation so many Redskins fans oddly have.

well! well! - that's kind of intriguing :P

back on topic - just my view on this - I think we are like a lot of teams that have decent QBs but are hoping that one of the guys on the roster can be the next great QB :D - there are a lot of good QBs that never get the opportunity maybe because NFL coaches generally are very conservative about giving the back-ups any sort of real look

I think that anyone here will get a bit of a chance but I really would be surprised if Collins or Brennan are on the team in September - Brennan may have more of a shot than Collins but that's not saying very much

we have so many areas to get better, and, to me anyway, I hope we can find a QB that in 2-3 years will be really good - If not this draft then next for sure

right now I hope they're trying to get 5 really good offensive linemen in here - it will take 2 drafts and hopefully some FAs but we need a really good line with depth - this is especially critical when you consider that many here consider Dockery to be the best lineman we've got right now  - that is a really good indication of how bad our offensive line is

Teams have massive film libraries they endlessly update and study of all the players on the teams they are going to play and of every potential acquisition. That they don't really look at their own players is just nonsense.

After the clear potentials go in the early rounds, they take chances because they like a player's build or his intelligence or that he was great on a smaller school and may have the skills to play on a bigger stage but dropped because they didn't play against elite competition week in and week out. Then they have position coaches who work with them constantly and feed up guys who may have a legit shot.

That they are just "conservative" and don't give them a "real look" is ridiculous. Colt has had every chance and then some and they decided to put him on IR in his second season anyway where he can't practice with the team or be involved in the game on the sidelines or play in mop up duty and if Jason and Todd go down we preferred the waiver wire to him. He's toast, but that it's just he didn't get a chance? Please.

our Kaz - just as ornery as ever and I love how you very subtly twist the posts to suit what you want - more power to you

no worries - you have your thinking about how things happen in the NFL and I'll continue to have mine - see ya!

be good to see Colt show that he can contribute now that the conservatives are out of the way

Should we also have kept ahold of Mark Brunell? ;)

I just like CB and his gun slinger approach and to my logic it would be useful to have a QB in your list who might be a bit different and be able to go after it naturally and not just because hes told to, if the game situation requires that. Collins is surely done now. we didnt use him in the 2nd half of last season when our season was already washed up so i dont see a future for him. It now depends on how many,if any, QBs we bring in!! I'd still keep Colt though. Hes always had ability and hes had a two years look at the NFL without yet getting a chance. like to see him get a chance if next season goes south like this one did ... not that i'm expecting it to!!

No, we should have gotten Brees in the first place, back when he was a FA.

You may be right, but I don't know then why JC has been starting for 4 years now....

It's not a poem but a good start. I want to see this guy shine in the NFL. Is there hope?

And the assumption here is that Shanahan doesn’t think that Colt Brennan is going to be a part of the solution at quarterback. That may or may not be the case. Brennan fell out of favor with “the organization” last year, but now we’re dealing with an entirely different organization. Shanahan has different thoughts about quarterbacks than do most, and it’s possible that Brennan is in Shanahan’s plans.

I've never seen a fan base give so much attention to a player who has struggled to simply MAKE the team, much less be a factor toward any success of the team. There are at least 30 other players I have more concern about before I even think of the name Colt Brennan. I think there might be some odd man-crushes going on here.
