Gibbs could do it, but there's a reason he's in the Hall of Fame. No normal man, even with great ability, could handle it. I'm just glad that it's over.
Snyder worshiped Gibbs but even in the end he did things that I think even Gibbs didin't like. Everyone will point to Gibbs' full support of Snyder but what do you think he's going to do??? Gibbs understands that Snyder will be here long after he's gone so he is trying to help the franchise by staying positive. The dissapointing thing for me was seeing Snyder spend 4 years with Gibbs and than treating Zorn the way he did...we all want to believe he learned a thing or two from Gibbs but this season suggests otherwise??
You hit the nail on the head, In my opinion. I also thought Snyder had "gotten it" after Gibbs 2.0, and even convinced myself that the hiring of Zorn proved that. I naively believed that Snyder and Cerrato had "discovered" a hidden talent and went for that over a marquee name. I now realize that they didn't know what they were doing, and were just demonstrating...once again....that they thought they were smarter than all those other (successful) "football people" and would redefine how to build a winning franchise.
I'm hopeful that the Shanahan (- Cerrrato) era will finally prove that Snyder's finally figured it out, but I am, like so many others, just cautiously optimistic. Further, I will continue to be cautious even if they do begin to win. Its my belief that Snyder has shown some change primarily because of the threat of reduced revenues through lessened fan attendance and generally decreased merchandising profits. I will hold judgement until after he's regained the fan bases hearts and cash (which, It think, in this town will not take much at all) to see if he doesn't return to his egomaniacal ways.

Honestly, I've seen you post that you think Snyder is stupid a few times.
I wish I was as "stupid" as he was to earn a billion dollars by 35...
I think you could make the case that he's football stupid.....
I think the issue is his business management ability. There are two types of businesses, those that you can micromanage and squeeze every nickle out of and those that are high performance where you are the leader of a management team and you need to motivate talented individuals. His ability is clearly in the former and he's inept at the latter. You don't need to know anything about football or any other business to run it effectively. You need the right management skills and he doesn't have them. He can only run types of businesses that can be micromanaged. Football isn't that type of business, at least not at the NFL level.

I buy that. I still think he's "football stupid", and that exacerbates the issue with his micromanaging. If you're gonna micromanage, and succeed, you need to be smart on the subject matter ....which he ain't.
It appears that Snyder has learned that a football team needs football people to run it. But since I'm not privy to the terms of employment for Allen and Shanahan, I can't know for sure. I don't think these guys would work for Snyder if he hadn't promised to stay away, so I'm optimistic. Which is a big change; I haven't been optimistic about this team for years.
Wrong thinking is punishable.
Right thinking will be as quickly rewarded.
You will find it an effective combination.

you've got a point there - just a shame though that it's taken a while for him to do what he appears to be doing this year in letting these guys be in charge here
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I get your point but I didn't know he was a billionaire when he brought the Skins???
I think that was the cash-out from selling his old company, but I could be wrong there. In any case, he certainly was a billionaire by 40, as the Skins were worth north of a billion...

And here, I think you and ChrisHanburger are right. He's not a good NFL owner. However, he's also a far cry from overall stupid...
