And you get arrested.
Give me a break, the man went out and got drunk...
Whats next? Campbell got a seat belt ticket? Shame on you!
for once I agree, Big boy was drunk, got the munchies... He was trying to go get his food. The officer got in between the big boy and his food, big boy was arrested, no biggie, it's off season, he's not in training camp.
#21 (36) This IS and will always be the High watermark where all new DB's are measured.
Drunk in public is the last resort excuse for tyrannical cops to arrest someone in the absence of a real reason.
There is absolutely no need for such a law, with other laws available to handle problems ... like ... disturbing the peace ... or something that actually is a problem.
Let's see ... pizza ... beer on your breath ... CRIMINAL.
Land of the Weak and home of the slave. And now even the rent-a-cops want to get in on the action

Yeah, Drunk in Public has always been more of a "probable cause" law than a "primary offense."
It's usually what the cops threaten you with if you're being a pain in the ass, which, he may have been.
Rent-a-Cop versus tipsy NFL Lineman, I can see all kinds of ways where that wouldn't go well.
Still a lot to do about nothing.

But, in his situation, it is mind-boggling. First, he is by all accounts a huge 3rd Round bust. Second, he's coming off of a season ending injury. Three, we have a new HC and GM who have a reputation for using svelte and agile lineman.
And therefore he can't have some beers and go out for pizza? In January? C'mon now.
The law's an ass, the cop was on an ego trip, it's really not much of a story, and we've all been drunk in our lives.
Probably all true. But Irn Bru is right - NFL players get held to a higher standard, like it or not. The fact that most of us can share some indignation at the obvious overreaction of the law in this situation does not alter the fact that the young man has let himself get into a situation that he could have avoided. In doing so, he's brought a little embarrassment on himself, and the Redskins, and given his new coaches cause to have some slight concern about his character. At a time when every single player on the team is being evaluated inside and out.
Again, I'm not crucifying the guy - he isn't Mike Vick. The law IS an ass, but it's not a secret law. Personally, I hope he takes this as motivation, goes away and gets in great condition, has a great training camp and preseason, and grabs a starting spot.

Like I said, beer and pizza is not my issue. But from a team GM standpoint, it begs the question, what is this guys committment to get healthy and get better. I know every player drinks beer and eats pizza. Hell, Chad Johnson eats nothing but McDonalds....but when you are Chad Rhinehart--a huge bust candidate coming off season ending injury--this isn't the impression you want to make on the new coach and GM. Especially since Shanny is known for using athletic lineman.

Right on. I think this is forgotten, by the people who matter, in a week. Unless he doesn't performs in camp. Then I wouldn't want to be Chad in the the coaches office when the coach pulls out the newspaper clipping.....

I would agree if Rhinehart was Casey Rabach or even Dockery...but this guy was already hanging on a thread. A guy off of the street, who weighed almost 500 pounds last year, came and saw the field before Rino.
If it were me, I would be living at Redskins park this offseason.

Actually, Chad started his first game week 3 vs Detriot while Big Mike started his first game week 5 vs Carolina.
I understand you don't like Chad, check your facts first.
And I still think that Mike the turnstyle was less effective than Rinehart.
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.

Not really, Bruce Smith used it effectively to get out of a DWI. Many Pro-athletes are advised to never submit to a field sobriety test or breathalyzer. It makes it harder to prove you are drunk when you don't volunteer evidence to be used against you.

Good thing there wasn't a Supreme Court Justice around for Chad to tell to loosen up

actually I agree, this is much ado about nothing - nobody with a level of dedication like this is possibly going to be a part of this franchise going forward
Rhinehart was a nothing as an offensive lineman and while he may have had a chance here all doubt has now been removed
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
