I'm not convinced that Shanahan is going to go with a zone blocking system here. There have been reports that Shanahan asked Bugel to stay on as the oline coach, which if that's the case, at least raises some doubts as to whether Shanahan is 100% set on going with zone blocking. I could be wrong, but I don't think that Bugel has ever coached on a team that primarily zone blocks.
Sir, we've zoned block as recent as this previous season.
The injuries to o-line were a blessing for this upcoming season.
We got a lot of young guys in and got them some experience. Some of those guys played pretty well but because of the overall poor shape of the o-line, they weren't able to shine.
With maturity, good coaching and a proper scheme, those hold overs may surprise us. Plus adding in some known quantities like the fellow we just acquired and via the draft... We should look pretty decent.

Do people recognize the amount of holes we have, we better grab anything and everything we can that looks at least halfway decent and let it sort itself out.
We are IN NO POSITION to be picky right now. We need depth and we need offensive linemen.
- Shanny knows him - This guy knows the system - He's young and hungry - He plays two positions so even if he DOES NOT start, he's key depth
How is this a bad thing?
Never said it was a bad thing. I was just tempering some of the enthusiasm the first few posters were exhibiting. Seems like they were saying this guy was the second coming of Russ Grimm.
Give me a break. That is a huuuuuuuuge stretch. I just went back and re-read the first two dozen posts, and the most enthusiastic thing anybody wrote was that this guy was a "beast". Pretty much everybody just wrote that they were glad Shanahan was working on the OL right off the bat. I think the enthusiasm is sufficiently "tempered".
Chris your post was right on. This is a guy that Shanahan thinks can help towards fixing our woeful oline problems. I also like that you mentioned this guy was "young and hungry". The Eagles do a pretty good job keeping their team stocked with young and hungry guys and not throwing away money on older vets on their last legs. (I say pretty good, cos they clearly messed up with Dawkins this year!!!) I'd like to see more of that from the Skins.
