I can guarantee you the Raiders will franchise Seymour. They will probably slap him with the exclusive franchise label which keeps him from negotiating with any team except Oakland.

Obviously, the Patriots are in a very different place to the Redskins, but I'm not sure that having Haynesworth and Seymour in the same locker room would be a good idea (however much short term success they might bring together on the field).

It seems to have hurt them this season, though, because their pash rush suffered all year long.

Reminds me of the year that NE went into the season with no wideouts. Reche Caldwell was their #1. They let their best WR (Deion Branch) go, over contract disputes if I recall correctly . . . however, they didn't do anything to replace him with an effective player. Despite going 12-4 anyway and going deep into the playoffs, a few dropped passes kept them from beating Indy and they went home in a year when they could have easily gone all the way.

It was the same thing this year with Seymour. Nobody effective replaced him, and in a playoff game at home the Ravens' offensive line just dominated NE. The Patriots's FO gets almost 100% praise, but they certainly make their mistakes, too. I'm not sure that sending off Seymour is a sure sign that he's a player to avoid in the FA market.

I'm not sure I agree with this philosophy. I think spending money has changed the culture around here. Whatever. Let's go back to 2001 and try and buy a Super Bowl with a bunch of 30 year olds.

I don't think you have to agree. My statement was primarily in response to
Totally agree. waste of money. I don't want short term fixes. I want LONG term solutions that will make our franchise GREAT for a long ass time.
My point is, because of the uncapped year, you can possibly have both. If it's a waste of money, so what? Danny has it to spend... and it does not need to have negative implications for the team's future. This does not mean that they will... but don't be surprised if they make at least one major FA signing...
Probably an O lineman...
