No, its not. Nice recall, though. One of the several former active members I miss having around.

I thought I put 2 and 2 together because he does bring up this site often on his radio show.

All in all still positive news. I am envisioning the 4th Lombardi Trophy at the podium for the 2011 season press conferance's. I am so stoked about a good direction for the team.

Wow. That's a pretty big statement. I hope you are right but we've got a heck of a mountain to climb before we get there. We need a lot of things on the team along with wrapping up this season first and getting a new coach (if we are?) first and then planning for the draft.

Dungy was long gone before BA was with the Bucs. Allen was Gruden's hand picked GM.

If Shanahan is hired you can pretty much bank on his son coming here.

a week ago I felt that we were going to see both Cerrato and Zorn be let go - with Allen now here and apparently the team is going to be managed differently, HOPEFULLY - BUT, I do not see any way that Zorn is here next year as HC

Allen DENIED that he has had any discussions with Shannahan on Sirius NFL Radio yesterday. This suggests that HE, not Danny, is making the coaching decisions... and HE wants to chill the message. There are still 3 games to play.

Allen was always a tight lipped guy with the Bucs as well. Basically never believe what he says.

Didn't say I believed him... I said that he is basically telling the world that HE is in charge of the Redskins... not the Danny, and that, until the season is done, don't expect to hear anything about any coaching changes. Allen is as well rounded a GM as you can find. His resume also includes working as a player agent. He knows how to negotiate... he knows how to play the press... and he knows how to influence opinion... This is Allen taking charge.

Allen is saying the right things (and not making stupid mistakes).

He is acting correctly ... so far.

By the way, It is Shanahan. Too many leads from too many credible sources.

But Lavar and myself called it first in this board.

If you REALLY want to know the truth ... from the information which has become available later ...

... this deal was done a lot earlier than Lavar and I let it out. Credit DS for keeping it under wraps for as long as he did.

(although Redskin 1 was active and some clues were put together by some anaysts to fuel speculation ... )

Can the "deal" still be undone? Sure !!!

Just get Danny to say that he wants control back from Allen and Shanahan and it will not happen.

Broncos owner talks up Shanahan to Snyder

Sunday, December 20, 2009 | Print Entry

NFL executives spotted and overheard Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder and Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen at last week's NFL labor seminar in Dallas engaged in a good solid 10 minutes of Mike-Shanahan-friendly conversation. Snyder was grilling Bowlen on Shanahan's attributes, and if there were any questions in the mind of the Redskins owner, Bowlen cleared them up. He gave Shanahan a ringing endorsement, which doesn't bode well for the future of Redskins head coach Jim Zorn. Snyder already knew much of this himself. He has known Shanahan since the two stayed at the same hotel for the Pro Bowl in the 1990s. The men went to dinner together, stayed in touch and have talked throughout recent years on a fairly regular basis.

I like Lavar and Chad, but the Junkies talk sports about as often as Regis and Kelly do. and I thought Kornheiser was bad.

I still seriously question Shanahans ability to shop for the groceries. He rates poorly in that category. If he is going to have the last word or share he last word with Bruce Allen, then I'd say our talent evaluation has not improved any.

Yeah, it's almost like Shanahan would need some kind of . . . full time personnel and talent guru . . . like a manager . . . of the team, in general. If only such a magical creature, some kind of "manager of general team issues" were to exist . . . .

Oh well. We can dream, I guess.

Danny, on the other hand, ...

No brother, the decision was already made. Bruce did not do the deal. He was part of the deal. Trust me.

and HE wants to chill the message. There are still 3 games to play.
THAT, he does. And, indeed, there are some games left. And the new management does not want to touch this season with a 10-foot-long pole.

The huge concern that I have is that, the new GM did not not really exercised his powers for the pick of a HC. Let us hope that he can exercise his duties without interference in all other aspects related to the football operations.

I"m not liking our possible future talent decision makers. You have BA that has a rep for being a very good manager and capologist, but not a good talent evaluator. Then there is MS who failed miserably the last time he was picking players.

SO WHO IS GOING TO MAKE TALENT EVALUATIONS? Did we improve any over Vinny? BA's draft record says we might have gotten worse.

I'm tired of hearing this line trotted out over and over again. People do 2 minutes of research and then decide Allen is no upgrade.

For what it's worth:

Is Daniel Snyder actually changing?

Time will tell. But talking to those who know him, they're shocked the fiery Redskins owner whacked close friend Vinny Cerrato and hired Bruce Allen -- and even gave Allen the authority of a real, live GM. But I want to see it work for a while.

I talked to Snyder on Friday and asked if this was finally going to be the time the Redskins were like most teams -- with the owner sitting above the fray as a checks-and-balances guy, entrusting most of the football decisions to a coach or GM or both. When Snyder introduced Allen last week, not much was said about who has authority over the big football decisions.

"Who's going to have final say on the coach -- you or Bruce?'' I asked.

"He is,'' said Snyder. "He's going to do it. I think he knows what fits here, and I trust him to make the right decision. We're not hiring anyone Bruce doesn't want.''

Allen is very careful with his words. When I relayed this and asked him the same question I asked Snyder. Allen said: "That's a fair assessment.''

So we'll see, as I said. As for now, I expect the Redskins to hire Mike Shanahan, and for Shanahan to bring in his own coaching staff -- including, as Chris Mortensen reported over the weekend, his son, current Houston offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, as offensive coordinator. I think Mike Shanahan would be energized by the Redskins and by working with Allen, a man as secretive and with the kind of football pedigree he likes, even if it means he has to use this year's first-round pick to find a quarterback instead of building the offensive line, which the Redskins definitely need to do.

No links or anything as I can't find any yet so take it with a pinch of salt, but the radio here was saying ealrier that there are reports that 'friends' of Shanny have let it be known he'd be very interested in coaching the Bears should the job be available (and hopefully it will be). For what it's worth, Shanny is a hometown Chi-boy.
