Yea, and the stats aren't even the main thing because he hasn't been given a ton of chances, but enough to do more than he has. It's just you can see he does little else well enough to remain on the field. He gets less separation than Moss, he doesn't make tough catches like Marko and Kelly (sometimes) and he doesn't run routes like El. He's an ok player, but he just doesn't do very much until he actually has the ball in his hands. And that's only going to get you so many plays, mostly WR screens and slants to be exact. However, I would like to say that I think he has more potential than any receiver on the roster. I just don't know if he will ever get there. He has wheels and size, and that cannot be denied.

I'd hope to see him consistantly start as a #1/#2 receiver. As of late, he's been rotating time with Kelly, which doesn't help, either.

I have liked his fire and yearning for YAC since last year on the reverse. I think he's going to be serviceable at the very least.

I agree, but I think that Brad makes some very good points. Thomas, to me, is very much like Cribbs from the Browns. Explosive with the ball in his hands, but outside of that, not a very good receiver. I think that Kelly and Mitchell are better complete receivers than Thomas.

I have been wanting to see Davis, THomas and Kelly get more oppurtunities. Which is why I had wanted to see ARE gone as well.
Anyhow with the terrible QB play I am not going to pass judgment on these receivers. A qb plays a huge role in how these receivers perform. If the ball is not there what can a receiver do?

Until we get consistent qb play. We can only speculate on how good these young guys can be.
So far I have seen Fred Davis put in a good effort with the oppurtunities he has had. Thomas has had limited opportunities and has shown some fire. Kelly seems to have had the least oppurtunities of all.
I mean how do you not use all your weapons? Its like a boxer going into a fight not using all his punches.

Hopefully we see these young guys get in there more often. Actually I want THomas as the no.1 and Moss as the number two. Rotate Kelly in and as of now Davis is starting so Davis will get his chances.

In addition to a LT, RG, RT, Franchise QB, Franchise RB, corner to replace Rogers or a 40mil contract. When I say on the planet the point I'm trying to make is Devin Thomas is among the elite physical atheletes at WR. And he's 22 or 23. Anyone got a rundown of how many times Eddie Royal or Desean Jackson has been targeted vs Devin Thomas? We could very easily be having this conversation about Desean Jackson, only everyone would complain about his height. The problem is O-line, and all the recievers are suffering because of it.

I'll take Moss over Colston, WHite, Austin, Maclin, Hester, Burleson, or Jennings any day. You wouldn't have listed Austin three weeks ago but abracadabra, all he needs is to be targeted 10 times a game and he's better than Santana Moss.

Colston, White and Jennings are all way better, and more accomplished than Moss. Take the time to watch Colston. I haven't seen a player with so much body control in a long time. Fitz is someone who is very similar. Something I like about White is that he was an all american wrestler in HS. That's why he's able to fight off man coverage b/c those guys will never get their hands on him. And Jennings is just a beast. He can make the big over the middle catches and rarely drops passes, something that's plagued Moss over his carreer.

DT needs to catch more balls before I'm "sold" on him

Moss would probably like to be targeted 10x as well...

I've still never seen him get open on a route. He caught passes on a scramble and a screen...so I guess, you can count me as not sold on Devin Thomas.

I do have a new found respect for Fred Davis however. With help for most of the game, he looked like a much improved blocker.

As I stated on draft day on this site, I still would have much rather had Calais Campbell than Malcolm Kelly.

there's probably some other guys that you'd rather have as well as Campbell - that's pretty helpful right now

No telling if Desean Jackson would be Desean Jackson or Devin Thomas if he was on the Skins! Just because someone works out on another team, doesn't mean he would work out here.

Who was Sydney Rice befor Brett Favre! No one new the EGirl even had a player named Celek until McCracked ribs went down. I'm not saying the other guy is better than McNabb, just that the #5 car does throw to TEs very often.

There have been many games that DT would have hade multiple touchdown games if JC just looked hid way. Heck he should have had at least one TD last week but JC threw him a terrible ball! I won't write off DT or MK until we have a legit QB.

Am I sold on him? Not yet.
Did I see the talent? Oh yeah. It's there.

Let's just color me hopeful that Thomas is starting to gel. This is about the time in his career that most good WR's start to put it together.

Totally agree Frank.. one person your missing though and he's new to the NFL world.. Mike Sims-Walker.. he plays just like the guys above but obviously with JAX he gets no airtime.

It's amazing what happens when you actually USE the talent provided.

The squad is more talented than they get credit for, there's just key areas that are killing it for everyone.

With Zorn out of the loop, Bingo man is getting everyone involved and guys are stepping up. ZORN is TERRIBLE at getting guys involved, just as bad as he is at play calling.

Sidney Rice was a first round pick, and for good reason. McNabb throws to Celek a lot. DeSean Jackson is the fastest player in the league. I do feel like he is somewhat limited as a receiver, but compared to a guy like thomas, who also does nothing but run fast, he is much better at his strength.

Thomas looked good again and good on STs. He's getting the reps on the field and he's looking better and better.
