Alright Roanoke, I guess I did get a little out of hand. Sorry bout that. But about the target percent thingy, even if Gardner got thrown to him that many times and only caught "51%" of his passes, that doesn't mean he dropped the ball half the time. 30% of those passes could have been balls that were completely off target that not even pro bowl receivers could catch.

Ok - to all the other folx on the board - who else watched Gardner drop numerous balls in critical situations?

I know he didn't "drop" some, but there were plenty of times he was smacked in the hand with the ball and dropped it.

Sorry - if he continues to perform like he did last year and we can get a first rounder for him - I would say do it. If he goes back to the 2002 stats - keep him. It is that simple in my opinion.

It doesn't have anything to do with likes and dislikes - Think back to Brother Monk who was the possession receiver under Gibbs. Very rarely did he drop a ball that hit him in the hands. That is what I would look for in a possession style WR.

If Coles is our Clark, Gardner has to step up to be the Monk of today... otherwise give DM a shot.

By the way - with the logic of Gardner not getting the chances as often due to being #2 instead of #1, I would say that the same dictates that DM could be WAY better than he showed last year if he wasn't in as 3rd or 4th WR... You see what I mean?

I base how I look at a guy on how he shows up on the field. I can't let myself get all worked up over a guy just based on how likeable he is, cause that doesn't do any good for the team as a whole.

I like Gardner, I liked it when we drafted him. If he stays at the same level under Joe Gibbs that he was at this past season while others escalate their performances, wouldn't it logically show that maybe someone else who would be a 1000 yard threat across from Coles... which, while Rod could be if he gets back to 2002 form... if he doesn't he makes himself more expendable... you see what I mean?

I would expect the lineup to be Coles, Gardner and possibly Jacobs or Russell in the "Ricky Sanders" mold... that would be along the lines of Gibbs' philosophy if he sticks to it and doesn't change...

If Cloman or McCants show more in camp than Gardner, don't expect Joe to keep Rod in there based on what he did in 2002...

I agree that Gardner had a bad year...that was obvious....but I do think that given the chance and the amount of balls that Gardenr was given....McCants can do a better job. Let's hope they are both in training camp and the better man wins....85 !!

The whole team will do better or be fined...I hope..We need discipline.
