If he is so good, how come Rodney Harrison, Boomer Esaison, and Sonny and Sam, who watch him play every week, are so critical of him?

If he was in the top 5 TD production, I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be ANY problems with any of us fans and there would be NO bickering.frankcal20 wrote:CalSkin - I've been doing everything in my power to offer up logic to some of these people in here but there are a few in here that are not going to change their mind. As far as Portis is concerned, I don't think he has enough in his tank after the beatings he's taken since he got to DC. This OLine is just awful and with his body wearing down, I just don't think he's got enough.
I do think it's funny that you're trying to compare a running back's TDs with a QB's. I'm pretty sure that Campbell touches the ball a hell of a lot more than Portis. How many pass attempts yesterday versus Portis runs? You're argument there is pointless. (I know that Calskin asked the question, but you did answer with a very large "zero".)

I think if people would quit taking the whole teams problems out on QB and coach, this team could focus and get better. Most QB's don't come into the league and have instant success even though there have been a few recently. They all went to teams that were only missing one key element - and that's the QB.
Our team needs a lot right now. We need an O-line. We need better game play calling and management and we need better overall focus by all players who are on the field.

So that's why you have sounded crazy this season......
PS - if JC was top five in TDs this year. There would be no QB issue and no one would say a word......including myself. All I want is points and wins --- JC is providing us with neither.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

BTW, where is Ramsey 3rd string? I bet they'd let us have him cheap. At least he'll take chances. I'm going to discredit any credit that I may have with you all and say that I would prefer him to Campbell at this point, for that exact reason that he'll take chances.

Ah yes, our fearless QB accumulating a bottom 5 scoring offense. Yeah, he is just awesome.![]()
Again with your stats. When will you learn that stats don't win games.....
those are cool emoticins there markshark.......soups our best offensive player right now.....couple of td strikes this past week......we should bootleg him more ala joe thiesman at the goal line cuz clinton cant score!

Sorry, it is still funny to hear that JC is our best offensive player -- especially when he is the "leader" of a bottom 5 offense -- and when a good number of commentators/former players have said he is one of the major problems.
I could say tons on CP's issues but I have covered them in the "CP is done" thread. So you can look there if you want.
bottom five offense.....markshark.... pulling stats, you said stats dont win games bruddah.........but the stats i see have us 13th in total yards, 10th in passing, ahem 24th in rushing

You still haven't explained why JC, if he is doing as well as you say, is being criticized by Harrison, Boomer, and Sonny and Sam...

When defenses put 8 in the box on every play because JC can't stretch the field, even Jesus Christ himself couldn't get into the endzone or rush for 100 yards.
maybe we can sign jesus....dan could fly him in on the jet with cruise

He's played the last two games against freaking bottom of the barrel teams .. and can't break 14 points.

Nice, but Cruise is a scientologist. We need believers to recruit him.

I don't know what Sunny and Sam have said about JC. I don't live in DC and don't listen to the games online. I watch them on tv.
I also did not hear Boomer either. I did read the posts about what Harrison said. But I don't agree.
On NFL Radio on Sirius Radio today - Tim Ryan (who called last weeks game) and Pat Kirwin (former NFL GM and Coach) said that Jason is not getting help from the other players on the team and that the fanbase is crucifying him for no reason. They did say that he, along with the rest of the team needs to get more production in the Red Zone. If they can do that, then our record wouldn't be 1-2.
Marty Schottenheimer said today as well that JC is a good QB and has the ability to be very good QB in this league.
We don't have to agree but I'm not going to say that JC is the reason this team is not winning. I've played enough football and watched even more in my life to know that he can not single handidly win every week. He needs help from the other guys.

He's going to have a good rating because he's accurate as hell on anything that isn't deep. Always has been, he was third in the nation in completion percentage in college in a non-west coast offense. He also won't throw a lot of picks. Its just that he and the team need to execute in the red zone better than has happened. There also needs to be more open receivers deep and better throws when they do get open. The WR's combined with the qb have equalled a lack of explosiveness for some time now. The Moss thing was good but it was a blown coverage. I think his increase in pocket mobility has led to better stats, because he's not getting hit when he throws as often, and he's giving people more time to get open. I think if Portis and the line were doing what they usually do there would not be as many people criticizing Campbell and we would not have lost to detroit.

OK, but we are still 29th in scoring.
