Jim Zorn should not be fired during the regular season.

Jim Zorn cannot be fired under the regular season.

It would be suicide to bring in a QB coach, Offensive Coordinator, Head Coach -and- different system at this juncture.

NOTHING and NOBODY can fix the team from outside at this point to salvage this season. It has to come from within. For as long as Zorn does not lose the players. we can still salvage some games -perhaps- up to a 8 - 8 record. Otherwise, I do not want to imagine what the record might become.

I have a question for you guys:

Not who do WE want to coach this team next year BUT ...

... WHO might want to coach this team under the current Front Office?

I say NOBODY who does not want to fail.

It doesn't pay to change coaches all the time. Ask Tampa Bay and Cleveland.

I would not be surprised if Zorn was fired after the Tampa Bay game. I am not advocating it nor think it is a good idea but it would not surprise me. Today was the pinnicle of pathetic.

I thought the Redskins made the right choice in going for the touchdown on 4th, just not the play. Is there anyone in the universe that didn't expect Portis over the left side? Anyone?

wow, after a year in his system we are even worse off. I'm all for letting the guy get used to it and give him enough rope to hang himself but this is redonkilous.... He basically has almost the same team as the playoff team from a couple years ago, with a few good additions. And what is happenning to the Defense???? What is this 60yd cushion and corners that can't cover? We get a guy that can collapse a pocket and we leave the recievers unattended at the line???? This is not just Zorn, it seems this is the whole team. They are all SOFT! We just lost to a team that hasn't won a game yet in 18 games? 2 before playing us? This is bottom, Rock bottom of where we can be right now. Even if we replace Zorn now, we will still be looking at these mediocre results. Shall we wait 13 more frustrating games before we pull the plug on this experiment? I SAY YES!, we can't be any worse, at least if we get a guy in there now we can carry the "rebuilding" excuse for the rest of this season.

I was pretty sure he would not try a half-back pass.

Epic loss. I don't think I've ever been this embarassed to be a Skins fan. Doesn't mean I'm going to quit on the team or stop being a fan but sheesh. Hearing Costas congradulate Schwartz at our expense made me sick. Are we worse than the worst team in the last 30 years?

Zorn is solely responsible for the offense and the QB. Both of which are looking like its among the league worst right now. Play calling in the RZ is awful. Campbell dumping off for 5 yard gains when you need 11 is unacceptable. Throwing into triple and sometimes quadruple coverage is unacceptable. Taking a 3 or 5 step drop and not watching the rush until the end of your drop is unacceptable. The man has really bad pocket presence. The rainbow he threw 50 feet in the air is unacceptable and a direct result of that wind-up. His stats look good but he's still terrible on 3rd down, he's still throwing fastballs when he doesn't need to, he still tries to lead receivers with no touch, he's still throwing checkdowns that guaranty stalled drives. There are plenty of QB's around the league with fewer starts and lessor talent around them showing more than he does. I thought today he'd finally get that 2 minute drill touchdown for the 'W' out of the way but I guess I'll have to wait for it next week. If he's been coached to do this for two years now, his coach is really bad!

I know this isn't a thread about our DC but WOW is Blache simply awful this year. I bet by the end of this week we're 4th in the league again, but this time from the bottom instead of the top.

RiC brings up a great point. Who is going to take this job if/when Zorn is fired? Plenty of great candidates out there but I'm sure all of them are going to want more control than Zorn. I remember hearing an interview with Snyder during TC, he said something along the lines of "you'll always be criticized for the way you do things if you're not winning". I really get a sense of 'I'll show all of you how wrong you are" from Snyder and he's going to be relentless, stubborn, and persistent until he does prove it. He's been at it for 10 years now. Maybe he needs 10 more???

Sad day to be a Redskins fan. :(

i particially agree but we dont need to make excuses. If you look at it, campbell has played pretty darn well witha ll of the bad media that he has gotten. Portis has not touched it enough but the running game is not as bad as it seems. we have talent at reciever. Good linebacker, good d-line, and great safeties. We have two problems.
-overpursuing corners who cant tackle worth a damn
-Coaching which is the worst coach in the NFL and the greediest and worst owner in the NFL

I love the skins and like to give people oppurtunities but when you play like we have been lately and have just about the most talent in the NFL there is no way we should be 1-2 and not have made the playoffs in the last two years.

Zorn needs to do something about the ridiculous playcalling, and the cornerbacks who are awful. All of these pick-ups and have not gotten the most needed position in the organization which is the corner.

Zorn is not a good coach and is coaching the games lately to keep his job and not to win the games.

I think that Snyder should go ahead and help us all out and sell the team to smeone who can run it even a little better. He is terrible.

I think the key to get coaches to apply is for Snyder to fire Vinny and bring in a GM and say he will choose our next coach.

Others have already said the obvious. There's nobody on offense to take over. Zorn's safe until week 7. It'd be absolute lunacy to try to change coaches midseason without at least waiting for the bye.

The question then will be whether he can lure a guy like Shanahan out of retirement midseason without giving up full personnel control, and whether he's willing to fire/demote Cerrato to attempt to even break even on the season. I'm not ready to put my money either way yet.

Here's the answer...We need a GM. Fire VC right now...this week. Do not wait!

Hire Holmgren as the GM. Have him assess the situtaion. He can then evaluate AND HELP Zorn for the remainder of the season. If he decides to go a different route at the end of the season, at least he's got as full season under his belt. This way we aren't giving up on Zorn per say, or JC for that matter. Just getting someone in there who can give us a clear direction for the future.

The only experience Holmgren has as a GM, he was't much better than Vinny. And he isn't a very good coach!

Well it looks like Zorn is starting to lose the team. First the incident with CP on the sidelines, then on ESPN980 Moss said that we should have kicked a field goal on the first series instead of going for it on 4th and goal.

That bad? I thought he turned around the Seahawks organization when he went there, No? Well maybe not him, but someone who is very qualified. I think that's the message the fans are looking for right now. A clear and decisive move that doesn't mess with the season in progress that points to a long term plan. Someone who can assess the situation and clean house if needed at the end of the season. Bill Parcells type (unfortunately, those are few and far between). Any idea's? We need a GM

We need a GM

Shanahan would come in and get the offense running again; when you run successfully, you control the clock, gas the defense, rest your defense, set up play action...you must establish the run unless you have a Peyton Manning, Zorn is so preoccupied with getting "his offense" to work that our running game has gone brain dead.

What about Cowher? He seems like the type that could definately get the Redskins fired up. Is he considering coaching next year? Maybe GM?

I can see Jon Gruden as our coach. He brought the Raiders to respectability after years of terrible football. I will be honest when I was watching a preseason game earlier this year and listening to him announce I just got this feeling that he was going to be our coach next year. I could be wrong.

I think he has to go, but it doesn't solve any of our problems!

Until Snyder gets rid of Cerrato and hires a good GM(I'd like to see Holmgen!) and lets them run this team, we're gonna continue to see the same thing happen.

Nothing changes until Snyder evicts himself from the premises at Ashburn.

A total self-imposed banishment from the football operations.

Put a quality top-of-the-ladder football guy at the helm, give him a budget -- then leave.

Chat up the secretaries if you must, but that's it.

The problem is coaching on both sides of the ball. It's not just Zorn, it's Blache too.

You have good talent on both sides of the ball these guys overcomplicate every dang thing. Why draft a stud DE and then make him cover Pro Bowl and All Pro TE's?? Why not just line him up next to Haynesworth and have what the Giants had with Tuck and Strahan on one side?

Then Blache continues with GW's rigid system that he has the LB's and Secondary so confused before the snap that they are jumping around confused. The problem is that the defensive scheme does not play to it's talent but instead tries to make the talent play to it instead of letting these guys play.

The offense is undisciplined, uninspired and over complicated. Zorn has not figured out how to utilize the talent he has partly because he's not flexible to adjusting the game plan to Jason's strength and not firing up this offense. The talent is there but he's over complicating to. Not trading Betts and getting a change of pace guy behind Portis was a mistake.
