I think (and hope) that Campbell can be a better QB. I just would like to see the next QB already here because after what we have seen from him since he came in, coupled with what we saw last year, I do not think he's going to be good enough. I am not "condemning" him, I think he's going to be a good QB but I do not see him succeeding at the position as well as I think we need.
This little blurb contradicts itself.
You think and hope he can do it, but you want his replacement here...a replacement for a 26 year old QB.
The thing is, this franchise has different 'schemes' that are put in place each year when a lot of other franchises have a long term plan that they continually upgrade (or try to).
We need to make a plan and stick with it.
Then you find that we have certain people managing that plan that really don't know how to plan in the first place and have no patience to let the plan develop or not.
I agree with you in that we need to have more patience with our players and our coaches but with this group that is not likely and I'll bet that heads will roll if we are not a whole lot better.
I do not mind changing what needs to be changed but those changes needs to be made to better suit the team not the owner and his advisors.
Well, for the time being, we have Zorn in his second year (first full off-season). I'm going with that for consistancy, because that's all we have at the moment.
As for the owner/FO, what else can you do? It's been discussed previously; we have no influence over the decisions of the owner/FO. I'm not condemning the team because the owner/FO makes stupid decisions sometimes.
Note, this off-season, so far, has been one of the better ones IMO.I am not against anything and like to look on the bright side as well - I just am very concerned about the plan for the future and who is managing that plan - I think these guys have no plan except to just add more expensive "gems" each year with no thought or plan for the long term.
When you 'say' you're positive, and then follow with negativity, what does that make the perception?

Now that you've made me look at the 'perceptions' - I guess I feel the same way about both Campbell and the management group here (we do not have a FO

). I think the're both good, just not good enough and we deserve better.
I feel that even if Campbell plays much better this year I just feel that he's not going to be that good a QB. In a perfect world I kind of hope that he's good enough to be here until our next QB is ready to go and I'm pretty sure that will not be Brennan either but it could be.

Thank you everyone that would rather root than dismantle. Even though you have your doubts it seems that some of you are pulling for the organization to do well. We need more of that and less negativity. I think our offense will surprise people this year. I think we might even make a real push in the post season. I can't explain why because I will be picked apart for having optimism. I do thank you for seeing possibilities.

Most here are supportive - we just feel a little different about the short term picture. it is the off-season and as we get closer I'm sure that I'll start to get hopeful again
I was blindly optimistic also but have started to look a little closer at how we are as a team and more importantly at where we are developing as a team - I just think that we do not have a plan: we just seem to add parts and hope they work out. The more successful teams seem to add pieces that both make the other players around them better but also seem to result in teams with greater depth.
I am never going to give up on my team

I wouldn't mind it as long as it didn't cost us a number 1 or 2. I would gladly give up multiple lower rounds for him.

You are dreaming if you think that could ever happen. Boldin would probably command a 1st
and 2nd round pick. . .and unless we threw in a player he'd probably cost a few lower-round picks, too.

How about our 2nd next yr. and Devin Thomas

Now that's an offensive thought
We need all the draft picks we can get and especially as that may be an early second round pick. We seem to give away picks with no thought to what it adds to the team - why give up on Thomas now AND give up a high draft pick?

Yup, already predicting that we may have an early 2nd round pick, insinuating that the 'skins will not improve. That's positive

I think the Redskins will be a better team - I just don't see that we are going to be good enough to finish with a better record than 8-8 or 9-7
We did what we are so good at - it looks like we made our team better than last year but unfortunately not better than the top teams in the NFC

Well, if we are better than last year, we should have a later pick. We had 13th this past year. I've never considered 13 and beyond an early round pick, but I guess without definitive answers, a lot can be interpreted to cater to your points...

I would be happy actually if we can end up in the top 20 again - I do like the fact that we have a 4th place schedule and I do hope that our defense will both provide better field position and be more effective in the 4th period than last year.
I am just concerned about the fact that we were not as good as our record indicated and we have to hope so many good things happen for our offense to be any sort of scoring machine
but, as the saying goes - any given Sunday

Meaning we get to play the Lions and the Rams; One beat us and the other gave us a tough fight last year.

That's the paradox of the Redskins. With relatively few exceptions we bring it against tough teams, but then we turn around and let a far worse team either fight to the finish or steal one from us.

Which is a terrible mindset to have. We need to destroy everyone we come across.

We play to our competition. There was a four or five year run there, where we beat the eventual SB winner during the regular season. while not making the playoffs ourselves, because we couldn't take care of business against the bad teams. That's why just making the post-season is so important for us.

That's it right there JSPB - last year we lost to Cincy and had a tough time really in some other games (Rams and Lions) that I thought we should have won easily. Then again we beat Arizona, the Saints and the Eagles twice and I dont think we would beat those teams this year.
I know it's just an expression but good teams beat (or find a way to win) those teams they're meant to beat and sometimes win the tough games - it seems like we're always in a dog fight. I think this defense looks like it will be a good to very good group but our team is not playing well together and that concerns me.
We need a better team and I think that starts with having a better plan

this to me is such a disappointment. I would love to see him show one-tenth of the potential he did at Oklahoma. There's definitely still time, but I had higher hopes for him.
I'd be excited to have him back at form!

Offense?
Clinton Portis is the heart of this team as well as the offense. Portis has carried this offense ever since he got here. So I expect him to do the same. I do hope a new leader emerges.
The Defense will give our offense many opportunities just like they already have been doing.
Jason Campbell has to step it up this year. JC took one huge step forward in the first half of the season. Then right when success was within reach he took a giant step back.
But, the good news is he went through the experience. Will he benefit from the experience he gained? Will he make the necessary adjustments?
