What we get for him will be the true measure. The Broncos picked Orton over him, if I had said that Orton was better than JC last year I would have been hung.

This could very well be the ultimate litmus test ... I'd LOVE to see JC go anywhere else and flourish.

I don't know who "you" is but let me set the record straight - I think that Campbell is a good to almost very good NFL QB - my only problem with Campbell is that he's not good enough - now I'm not a great talent evaluator but I think that he just does not show or exhibit the intangibles like desire etc. that I would like to see. There may be many reasons or excuses for this but I hope that he's here for a long while as both our starter and in the future as we get our next QB ready to put up all the points we should be doing.
As I said, he's a good QB and I hope we keep him and I hope that the team has to pay him a lot of money to stay here next year because of how they have treated him AND also because while he's not good enough - he's a good QB

I also think and hope that any and all of those QB talent evaluators are suggesting to their teams to make an offer to acquire Campbell - I would tell you right now that if any team thinks he's worth a 1 or a high 2 then they can have him

I find this to be just so amusing - "most people in football and the media (with far more access and insight than the average message board poster) think Jason Campbell is a very talented quarterback and will do well in the league." ROTFALMAO you're kidding, right?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

This is not a draft that is that great with QBs - Sanchez and Stafford are good prospects but not great, cannot miss QBs. Rolling Eyes

Is there such a thing as a "can't miss qb?" Lots of smart football people thought that Ryan Leaf was a can't miss type player. Comparing Sanchez and Stafford to next year's qb's, the only one that you could argue is better than them is Bradford, and unless we totally tank this year we wouldn't be in a position to draft him next year anyway. Sanchez and Stafford are both better prospects than McCoy so I think that the idea that we should wait until next year to draft a qb because the class is better is being overstated.

As a player, the only real knock on Sanchez is his limited starting experience. However, I would point out that Cassell didn't start any games at USC and look how well he did last year. USC is a program that is very good at preparing their players to play in the NFL, and from media accounts, teams that have spoken with Sanchez have been very impressed with his knowledge of the game.

totally agree that you can never predict how good or bad a player is going to be - especially at QB - there are numerous examples.

I just think that the group coming out next year at this position is looking better at this time than we thought last year - I also am not totally against getting a Stafford or a Sanchez or ANY future great QB - I just do not want to give up draft picks for anyone and especially not 2 first round picks that we were looking at doing for Cutler. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

If someone wants to take Campbell and we can get Sanchez and it does not involve a draft pick at all - then I say, do it - btw - I happen to think that Sanchez is a better prospect at QB than Campbell but what do I know - the good news is that Cambell is here, the bad news is we keep making him feel unwanted

BUT the fact remains - we need a lot of players on offense - not just a great QB (or even a much improved Campbell) - we need to get as many offensive starters as possible in this draft and next - and that is with a group of NFL talent evaluators that has not exactly been that great in evaluating who best fits this team

our defense will be good this year and if all the offensive guys are gone by the 13th pick, they will most likely add another future great defensive player

Vinny Cerrato looked like a complete idiot in the Pre Draft press conference. He is literally a moron caught in headlights.

While, Sanchez may wind up being a great QB, by the time he's ready to lead us to the Superbowl, how old will Portis, Moss, Samuels, Fletcher, et all be?

He will have to lead a completely different team at that point. And, just where do we plan to acquire the players to replace them without draft picks??? Expensive Free Agency. Oh, but we would probably be limited to only acquiring one or two "superstars" to fill 6-7 holes.

So, we'll trot out the prima dona, get our hopes up...only to realize that we are horribly weak at some spots playing with guys who would be practice sqaud for anyone else.

This is maddening, and I hope we wise up in time to not totally screw the team.

All in all, Jason is probably so irked by this, that even if he has a great year, he will probably opt to sign a big deal with another team. And, we will be back to searching for a rookie QB.
SPIT HAPPENS!!

It is clearly not as simple as: "The Broncos picked Orton over Campbell"

There is NO evidence to support that. They took the package the Bears were offering, but it was not a matter of Cutler for Campbell or Cutler for Orton. That's incredibly foolish to assume IMO.

Also Hogster, if we get Sanchez... who cares where our current crop of aging veterans will be when we have a franchise QB? I don't. We'd presumably have a new cast of talent around him. It doesn't matter where a bunch of old guys will be.

That is the popular rumor, whether its true or not. And it's not too far fetched when we may end up giving up a similar deal if we go after Sanchez.

It's not anymore foolish to believe than believing that the entire league is in love with JC.

First off, this whole thread is based on a blog. This means the writer can write whatever he thinks and it doesn't have to be grounded in any kind of reality.

Secondly, there are no quotes from Campbell or his agent. He cites "a source familiar with the situation."

Really? I could be "a source familiar with the situation." You could be "a source familiar with the situation." In all likeliehood, considering this is a blog, the writer himself is probably the "source familiar with the situation."

This guy doesn't even "report" that Campbell said any such thing.

Campbell, a first-round pick by the Redskins in 2005, has said he wasn’t bothered by the team’s inquiry for Cutler. However, another attempt to secure Campbell’s replacement or successor wouldn’t go over well.

As I told a friend when the Jay Cutler stuff was going on, leave it to the Redskins to alienate their starting QB by trying to trade for a QB that had been alienated by his former team by them trying to trade him to another team.

As bob said, there's no real proof that this is true, however, I wouldn't blame Campbell for feeling that way. Then again, they can bring in 45 QB's. Its up to Campbell and his improvement whether he is the starter or not.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see Orton (or Simms) and some sort of package of picks dealt to the Lions so the Bronocs can move up and pick a QB who can throw for more than 12 yards accurately.

I’ve searched and I can only find one team with any interest in Campbell (the Jets). You say a half dozen teams is that fact or your opinion?…Yet you have discounted everyone else’s opinions that there will be little interest in him.
Your opinions count ours are irrelevant got it

My opinion on JC is pretty neutral. Probably decent enough to go into the playoffs, never going to be great.

Might be a long term QB for Washington, but it's looking like factors outside his ability to play football are leaning the other way.

And yes, if someone's position is "Jason Campbell is a bum!" their opinion is irrelevant. There's no evidence to support that, and NFL teams certainly don't feel that way.

Keyword is MIGHT. As in, they MIGHT NOT be interested or maybe they are. Or it MIGHT be 2 teams, or it MIGHT be none. So your ASSUMPTION is just as valid as ours.

We are not talking about how good he is or isn't we are talking about the interest from around the rest of the NFL.

Ok then DEHog. If your opinion is "No one wants JC, he's a bum" then your opinion is still irrelevant.

I don't think yours is, but aren't you just splitting hairs?

People, people, calm down.

This is a poorly managed rumour. Well, another porly managed rumour. Well, yet one more on a long line of poorly managed rumours and public relations disasters with players and fans.

PLEASE wait until the draft takes place before we exalt the praises of the Front Office or we really call them what they deserve to be called! Patience.

Give them the benfit of 24 hours (or less and not the benefit of the doubt which they spent already).

My opinion on JC is I don't know, but I want to see it play out on the field this year. As for the interest in him…IMO he's not done enough to warrant much interest from around the league. Not splitting hairs.. IMO two different topics.
