I believe Wynn is a complete waste of a roster spot. Daniels, on the other hand, is strong enough to play DT and I hope that is where he lines up most of the time. I am just curious to see how well his knee holds up over the course of a season.
I'd rather have two "old" guys on the bench for depth that are thoroughly familar with Blaches' system and can step in anytime to spell a starter at their respective position than to have someone elses superstar who needs a year to break in. It's the lesser of two evils.

Wilson and Jackson have a combined 5 career sacks. Jackson has shown zero ability to rush the passer, even in college he only had 6 total sacks.
Ok, and Evans has a grand total of 13 sacks in 8 NFL seasons!
True, but last season when he got a chance to start he played well. He had 3.5 sacks last year, which was the same number as Taylor and only .5 sacks less than Carter. Jackson had zero sacks last year and Wilson only had one. Evans isn't an all-pro but he had been a solid contributor and played well when given the chance to start. I would certainly rather have him on the roster than Renaldo Wynn.

Youtube vid I just found of Phil Daniels squatting 505 with no knee wraps, on Feb 28th this year. I think his knee is coming along just fine
The guy's a beast. He looks like he's in great shape and he's not even 100% there. Welcome back, Phil!
Edit: Lets not forget he was easily squatting 722# and deadlifting 600# a year ago. For reference, a Harley Fatboy weighs about 715# wet.

I see your point as well, however Wilson did have 3 sacks a couple of years ago in a role much like Evans. For the money though, I think Daniels and Wynn (together cheaper than Evans) is the better deal. I think the team understands (at least I hope they do) that these acquisitions are for depth, and not long term solutions. But, don't forget about June 1st cuts in addition to the draft!

Defensive End Daniels Agrees to a One-Year Deal
Tuesday, March 31, 2009; Page D04
Defensive end Phillip Daniels said yesterday that he expects to sign a contract in the next few days to return to the Washington Redskins and will definitely play for the team in the fall. Daniels called the Redskins yesterday and agreed to terms on a one-year, veteran-minimum deal, according to a league source.
"I'm coming back. I just talked to all the guys," Daniels said by telephone yesterday. "I'll probably end up signing today or tomorrow, but I'm definitely coming back."
Daniels and Renaldo Wynn are the only experienced left ends on the roster, and the two probably will share time. Daniels has expressed his desire to start and probably would come into training camp as the front-runner. He has been with the Redskins since 2004 but has battled injuries and missed all of last season after hurting his knee on the first day of training camp.
Daniels, who said he is in great health now and will continue to work out on his own in Chicago, expects to join the team for minicamp after the draft. He does power-lifting sessions in the offseason and generally has been allowed to do so with his personal trainers instead of participating in the offseason workout program at Redskins Park.
A one year deal for the veteran-minimum is a very good deal. Daniels is still a beast and could provide decent contribution.
