Normally I would agree with you. If a veteran like CP doesn't want to attend a voluntary workout I have no problem with it. However, considering that Thomas showed up to camp out of shape last year and didn't produce very much during the season, it's not a good sign that he is missing these workouts.

But the point is that it's voluntary. There's no double standard. You hold CP to the same standard as you hold Thomas or you create animosity. Equal punishment and equal rewards, no exceptions.

I know I previously argued that one player needs to stay out of another player's business, but we all know that will never happen.

Life is very simple for you, isn't it.

Man, if true, I'd love to read that one. Hell, if I was Snyder, I'd ban him too, and I've wondered why they haven't in the past. I understand the role of the media and what their job is about, but when it crosses the line of ethics, to the point that it constantly includes blatant lies for the purpose of embarrassing players and the organization, it's time to draw the line.

I'm pretty sure this is not true. He's been there for most official press conferences, and consistently reports on who is coming and going from the facility, etc.

I don't think I'd ban JLC if I was Snyder. If I was Snyder, I'd stop being Snyder, which would take care of at least half of the problem with the WaPo and other press organizations.

With all do respect, I seriously doubt someone like JLC would become a better or more ethical reporter based on Snyder's actions. The Post brought this on themselves to start, I don't blame Snyder for that. Now they are continuing in a disgruntled, childlike manor. "Snyder pissed us off, so now we'll just make every attempt to embarrass him and the organization". I agree Snyder deserves the criticism from the press for boneheaded 'football' moves that cost the team, like trading away draft picks. But printing hyperbole, exaggerations and nonfactual stories about the players and the coaches is another thing. And further, these aren't attacks on Snyder, personally. They're talking about players and individuals that have no control over what Snyder does.

The most damage done by JLC's "reporting" is to the players and coaches. Players who get drafted have no control over who they play for when they come into the league. I think Snyder could care less about a peasant reporter trying to ruin his name. JLC needs to report on the facts without adding his own personal spin to things. Even if he does retract on some of the things he reports incorrectly, it doesn't have the impact or the splash effect that original report has. Its not fair to Devin Thomas in this instance, because he is painted as a non team player and an individual who isn't trying his best to get better. Very unfortunate.

Its not JLC, its the post. He was a decent writer prior to becoming the Redskins beat writer. Back then it was Nunyo Demasio who covered the team. His tactics where the same.

I think it is the philosphy of the Washington Post Sports section to be controversial, to be liberal with the standards of proof, to accept anonymous sources as if they were the rule rather than the exception and to be condescending towards the organization.

Let's not let the team off the hook for this though. They've played their part. They revoked season tickets the Post has had for years because of the Ryan Clark incident. They've publically questioned the integrity of the paper and its writers.

The relationship between the two has long been at a stalemate, with neither side willing to blink. Instead, the two fire shots at each other and we all lose out on what could be a great source of information, but is just a place where you always read what's written trying to extract what you want to know from the pettyness.

Mark my words. Right now "Thomas is being Thomas." If we cut him or trade him, he would be, "perhaps the most talented receiver on the team. Another talented young draft pick the Redskins let get away."

Tell that to John Elway or Eli Manning.

Technically, they didn't have a choice. They came in and whined and demanded a trade or whatever, but the team(s) ultimate decided to grant them their wish. If I recall correctly, Eli didn't specifically ask to be a giant; he demanded not to be a Charger. If he would've had his choice, he would be a Redskin :-)

Hearing this news makes me want to consider going after Michael Crabtree from Texas Tech.

What? So we can have a receiver with foot problems? LOL!

No kidding. With our luck he blows a knee out before even stepping on the field.

Devin Thomas has reported for the Redskins' offseason program after missing the first few days of training.
Thomas, the No. 34 overall pick last year, said he was absent initially for personal reasons. The Michigan State product says it's "time for me to step up and do what I've got to do" after a lost rookie season. Ideally, he'll earn a starting job in camp and allow Antwaan Randle El to play the slot.

Just ran into Clinton Portis. When I teased CP about he and his fellow running backs Ladell Betts and Rock Cartwright being here for all the offseason workouts while the receivers were AWOL, he said the wideouts had returned except for starters Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El.

And lo and behold a few minutes later, who should appear but Devin Thomas, who unlike fellow second-round receiver Malcolm Kelly (knee surgery in January) is fully cleared to participate in the offseason program. Kelly has been on hand of late, too, but isn't in Ashburn today.

Thomas said he wasn't at the Park for the first few days last week because he was working at Michigan State and helping his former teammates get ready for their Pro Day when they show off their skills for NFL scouts. Thomas also predicted that he'll be away in early April because his Spartans will be playing in the Final Four in Detroit.

I have another for you. A statement that makes me want to punch him in the nose.

If you made me pick between Doughty and Horton at this point, I'm not sure I could

Really? You think Doughty is as good as Horton?

Wow, maybe he's talking about Mike Doughty because that statement is dumber than me for picking Syracuse to meet Louisville in the championship ](*,)

 He also said...

"Doughty lacks some of Horton's size, but he is a natural hitter, too, and, like Horton, suffers most when forced to backtrack downfield."

What a bunch of crap. Horton played very well in coverage, breaking up many passes downfield. Where does JLC come up with this stuff?
