After what we saw from him last year, playing in Buffalo - that is really a very strong endorsement - I would appreciate it if you could clarify who are the other guards that are ranked at that level and how much are they paid?
I wonder if the Bills realize what a gem they had - I'm sure they could have asked him to restructure

He's ranked 16th in the NFL at guard by Scouts. Pretty much an above-average starter. The guy ranked 15th is Andrew Whitworth, who signed a
4 year, 30 million contract extension with the Bengals in July 2008. A guy ranked 74 is Justin Smiley, who signed a
5 year, 25 million extension (9 mill guarenteed) in Feb 2008. Jake Scott, ranked 68, signed a
4 year, 19.5 million contract (6 million guarenteed) in March 2008.
As you can see, 3 years, 13 million, is right about where he should be.

Maybe they did ask him to restructure. I don't know. Do you? And maybe they just cut him because he cost too much. But no....good players never,
ever, get cut from their teams for money reasons. Ever.

SJ, I think that while most of us were disappointed to see Dockery leave a year ago, I also recall that there was pretty much a consensus that the Bills were overpaying for him. That's on the Bills... not Dock...

Buffalo threw for more yards than we did even though they had 30 fewer attempts, so maybe they weren't settling for 6-yard completions on 3rd and 10 like we were...

totally agree CT - and I was one that was sorry to see him go and I also thought that while he was getting a lot from the Bills that was just a reflection of how well he played here
I was sorry to see him go and surprised when some pointed out that he just never played to the level that we saw here.
I will be interested to see him come back and show everybody that he's as good as they think he is - he has a decent contract and he's back with Bugel - I am not convinced that the ranking is quite correct because as Pulp pointed out, "good" offensive lineman rarely just get cut, but we shall see and we need him next to Samuels again.

16th out of 64 starting guards puts him at the 75th percentile.

thanks - I did - he could have added a
Look - don't get me wrong - I am one of the glass half full guys and I really would like to see things get a whole lot better here.
We need help with our O line and Dockery is someone that really looked promising and we now have him back - it's all good as long as we get a little of the OG we saw in 2007 and not the guy that played on the Bills line last season.
To get right into it, I have defended Snyder for many moons and am just tired of how he has us placed each year - we look like a decent team going into each year but for whatever reason (and there is always a "reason") we end up with a mediocre team - it just gets old and I am starting to think it might have something to do with who is in charge is all.
Picking one signing or justifying all the acquisitions is fine - making the playoffs every now and then is not - I am not interested in just getting into the playoffs, I want a team that is built for success over many years not just here and there like the other 3 teams in our division seem to be - we deserve better

Totally agree. It takes a fair amount of luck for a very good team to make it to the SB. Injuries are random. Free agency demands constant change. You can't constantly approach the business like you're one player away from becoming a SB team. That mentality lends itself to overpaying for players and putting way too much importance and pressure on that player to become
the difference maker. And it leads you towards another empty search for the one player needed to make
the difference next year, and the year after.
Some of us fans have carried the glass half full, "just give Snyder the benefit of the doubt" mantle for so long, with nothing to show for it, that now, we are the pessimistic ones who see every Snyder move as another empty promise.
The Snyder act has gotten old and stale. We want genuine change. Football moves made by football savvy managers. Stockpile draft picks at every opportunity, they are gold. Trade players who either don't buy into the system or who are not going to be worth the big contract they demand next off-season. Always be willing to trade away picks this year for someone's higher picks next year, the house almost always wins. When you do make a big free agent move or trade, make the decision based on in-depth football knowledge. How does the player fit your system? What kind of character and will it mesh with your team? How much better is this player than the other options at that position? and for what price difference? I don't see this kind of logic consistently from Snyder. And it is Snyder we are talking about here. He has made himself the GM of the Redskins. Cerrato is still only the 2nd voice on all decisions.
