We need good depth not just another warm body on the field. It's not a "sky is falling" type move, but what the Skins have done with the DE position this offseason makes very little sense. We let Evans, who played well last season, sign with the 49ers and then went out and signed Wynn, who we cut several years ago because he wasn't effective anymore.

We have 62 on roster (including RFA's but not UFA's). The camp limit is 80. We will sign lot's of warm bodies.

With Wynn taking the spot of "another" DE that is a warm body, I don't see any use in this signing. IMO, Wynn isn't really good enough to be in the rotation. He is a DE which means he is supposed to put pressure on the quarterback. He cannot generate pressure of any form. Unfortunately, with our coaching staff being comfortable with and knowing him, that increases the chances of him being on the opening day roster. I would much rather have Daniels resign than Wynn, because he at least is powerful enough to move inside to the DT position. I just do not buy into the fact that "he is a leader" and that is his main purpose for being on the team. If he wants to be a leader with a diminished physical skill set then he needs to join the coaching staff.

There's a point I have not seen you address, which is that this is not necessarily a permanent signing. He's a body now, but he may not even BE a body come OTAs, training camp, or pre-season. This is early off-season moves. We haven't signed him to a 7 year deal with a huge cap hit. He's vet minimum 1 yr deal, which means it's easy to cut him without suffering a cap hit.

I believe my point encompasses the fact that he will be harder to get rid of, because the coaches seem to like him on more of a personal level than what he produces on the football field. Since they seem to like his "experience," it is more likely they could decide to keep him over a guy that shows better burst, but has less experience. I realize the fact that its only a 1 year deal, but he is still taking up roster space and getting all warm and fuzzy with the coaches again. I hope he proves me wrong, but from going by what he has done in the past I don't think that will happen. I want some of the young guys like Rob Jackson and Chris Wilson to get some playing time in the rotation.

And his old defenseive line coach, who just so happens to be the D-Coordinator, helped bring him back. Plus, at the time he was let go, it could have been a GW call.

You are correct and it is speculation, but I can see it as something that logically could play out. He will be here at least through traing camp, but I have a bad feeling he will make the team. If I am correct in my assumption, well, be prepared for Haynesworth's double teams to be nullified by Wynn's inability to beat a 1 on 1 situation.

Considering that we have a worse linebacking core, worse DB's, and one year added to Cornelius, that doesn't make me feel much better.
