I agree with the bad reactions in this thread, but then again I'm a crank on uniforms and tradition. It's always possible that the Lions will go this new direction for a dozen years and then revert to the old school uniforms. Unless I'm mistaken, both NY teams did essentially that.

They're trying to change their culture completely and they may or may not succeed, but you've got to respect their efforts. A uniform change doesn't have much to do with performance, but evidently in their minds a complete overhaul, including their uniforms, was needed.

I love this change because at the very least maybe it changes the attitude of the team. The best case of this in terms of winning from a change of unis is the Tampa Bay Bucs.....

Bucs Unis 1976-1996: (100-223) 18 Losing Seasons Playoff Record: (1-3)

Bucs Unis 1997-2008: (105-87) 3 Losing Seasons Playoff Record: (5-6) Super Bowl XXXVII Champions

At the very least I like how Schwartz and the whole Lions organization are starting to change the attitude of the franchise.

I must say it's about time the Lions updated there image. I can remember what it did for the Bucs and the Patriots (not really ) anyway there logos and uniforms do loook better.

I would say the Bucs have come out on the top on the make over. You know the pirate ship and cannons at home field and all that stuff it 's good yes?

What do you mean not really?

Most every team that has changed there uniforms has become better.

The Falcons, Bucs and Patriots have become better since changing there uniforms. There is more to how you look then people think. If you look good. You start thinking your good. Then you start training good. Then you start playing good.

Uniforms are important. If it weren't the Marines and Army would not emphasize looking sharp.

Looks like the Lions are going to make an official announcement on this by the 20th.

This all started when the NFL accidentally showed a toy truck for sale at the NFL shop with the Lions "new" logo. It has since been removed, but here is the picture that has been floating around.

And here is a side by side comparison of the old, and possibly new logo.

Old: 0 - 16 (Record against a variety of NFL teams in 2008)

Older: 0 - 21 (Record against One team at that team's home)

Whatever the unis bring, I'm pretty sure that they are still 0-21 in Washington DC...

The Jaguars and 49ers are supposed to get new uniforms as well.

The Jags will keep the colors but change the logo and unis. They're supposed to have a press conference on April 22nd.

The 49ers will show theirs off at their Draft Day conference on draft day. They're supposed to revert back to their old 80's look.

Seems to be that way. I hope we don't change ours. And if we do, we kind of go back in time. Gold pants and gray face masks FTW

Here are the Lions and Jags new unis:

Not too impressed with the Lions. They hardly changed a thing.

I'm not too impressed with the Jaguars, either but they definitely upgraded the helmet with the new metallic paintjob. It looks black but when the light hits it, you can see it's really teal.

I actually like the new Lions look. The managed to make the logo look more like a Lion without making it look cheesy.

And it's MUCH better than the one that was originally reported.

Except that actual lions are neither blue nor cheesy, right? :)
