Take Orakpo at 13 if he is available ( I dont think he will be) and address OLB later in the draft
If Orakpo is not available draft a OLB like Cushing, Rey or someone else to come compete for a starting job.
Pray Sanchez falls and someone wants to trade up to get him.
Here is my DREAM SCENARIO!!!!!!!!!!!.............
-Lions take a NON QB with the 1st pick
-Sanchez falls down the boards
-Lions trade up to get Sanchez at 13 by trading there 20th pick and there 2nd rounder.
-Redskins draft Clay Matthews (OLB) with the 20th pick and Alex Mack with the 33rd pick.
Fairly good, but it doesn't address our problem at DE. We have Carter & ?????.

He still hasn't completely bulked up like he has the ability to in the weight room, he has every bit of natural talent, and the guy is quite simply an absolute mauler. He would immediately from day one step in at RG or RT and be a top run blocker at the spot and, IMO, he could in in a few years move over to LT when Samuels is gone and be a franchise guy at that spot. Our defense is pretty good right now and an average LB is less noticeable than an average O-Lineman, where one weak spot(Think Ray Brown, bless his old heart in 2004 and 2005)can absolutely kill you.
Plus, the guy is actually flying under the radar... In a normal draft, he'd be a top 5 type guy, but Andre Smith is overshadowing him as is an overrated guy in Jason Young. Michael Oher along with Derrick Dockery would combine to take an overaged O-Line and turn it back into a quality unit.
Agreed... read The Blind Side
I have. Great book. I actually bought it not knowing it was about Michael Oher... I remember the recruitment process for him back in high school(I feel old.)

Umm... run blocking is his worst discipline...
I completely disagree. Some nerd with no life at ome scouting service might write that, but it is completely false. As much as I disliked Houston Nutt, his offense is about running the heck out of the power, inside zone, iso, etc, and Michael Oher excelled in the system. Plus, Mike Markuson, the O-line coach, has coach O-Lineman like Shawn Andrews... Big time run blockers.
Oher would fit in here.

You mean drafting? Maybe if we trade back, but not at #13, and that's been the consensus from the analysts for a while. Here's the
source I used. But I also watched him at the combine and you could see the inconsistency. Also, short arms are not a desired characteristic to have for a tackle in the NFL. Again, if we trade back, I'd take him in a heartbeat, so don't get me wrong. But he's a reach at #13.
I agree, plus he only benched 225 21 times. Many WR's at the combine did that or more. I worry about his strength.

With regard to Oher, they even specifically mentioned run blocking being an area that needs improvement at the combine. Those "nerds" at the scouting services and the "expert" analysts on the NFLN make a living 'studying the tape'. I honestly admit I haven't personally watched Oher, but if the paid professionals who
study tape for a living think he needs work at a particular discipline, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. And all they said is that Oher is a better pass blocker than a run blocker, which is all that I'm repeating.
I know his
"powerful blocking helped running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis become only the third 1,000-yard runner in Ole Miss History." So again, don't get me wrong. If we trade back, Oher would be a nice draft choice, but not at #13. There are far better players to be had that high in the 1st round. It's about the best player available that fills a need, and at #13, Oher will NOT be the best player available.

The thing with Oher is, a lot of people believe he has some untapped potential.
IMO he'd be an excellent pick at 13 and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this... I know I have company in a "nerd" like Todd McShay

I hope we sign him or the other guy that someone mentioned before me, so we can get Orakpo or a LB in the draft.

Seahawks re-signed OT Ray Willis to a two-year, undisclosed contract.
Willis, the Seahawks top backup offensive lineman the past couple of seasons, ended up starting 10 games last year. He was courted by the Redskins before deciding to stay in Seattle.

He has a LOT of room to grow in the weight room. He has a big frame that for some reason didn't really start to fill up completely until the offseason before his senior season. In an NFL weight program, he'll be amazing.
I'd rather pick up a top LB or Andre Smith, but Michael Oher would be a hell of a consolation prize.

Yeah, I've said it before. Even though I prefer Oher the only way I see disappointment is if we got Ray Maualuga. Pretty much anyone else, Orakpo, Smith, Cushing, even a reach like Laurenitis would make me happy.
Anyway, back to the matter at hand. I wanted Willis but the Redskins backup plan is to go after Elton Brown. He's a 6-5 330 pounder who went to Virginia and can play guard or tackle. He's also only 26 maybe he'll be able to contribute the way Willis would have.

Barnes was said to be signed by the Raiders on Profootballtalk, but no where else, so it could have been a mistake

I like the idea too and after he left the combine everyone was saying Smith might fall out of the top 15 but now it seems like, since that all settled, he is back to a top 5 pick.
I like the idea of a top LB. To me that is our biggest need other than the OL. I wouldnt mind if we got Orakpo either, since we just lost Evans. We do have guys that can step in at DE so I guess I would take a LB.

that is a good gaurd or a good OT, hmm I believe that may be the best move thomas is holding his own and could very well be replaced next season and if brown could then elt him it is a smart move..
