Anyway, while we're on this fantasy football stuff... I heard the Browns are putting Braylon Edwards on the trading block... That'd be a nice guy to have.

Not after the season he had last year...

Cerrato: 'No Interest' In T.O.
By Gary Fitzgerald

The Redskins have “no interest” in signing wide receiver Terrell Owens, executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato said.

Owens was released on Thursday by the Dallas Cowboys.

“[Owens’s representatives] called us three years ago before he went to Dallas, and we didn’t have interest then,” Cerrato said. “Why would we have interest when he’s three years older now? We have no interest.”

Cerrato said the Redskins remain committed to developing their young group of wide receivers, including 2008 second-round picks Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly.

Owens is a 13-year NFL veteran who has played for the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. He is 35 years old.

Owens has 951 career catches for 14,122 yards and 139 touchdowns in his career.

He carries with him plenty of baggage, though. He has been a distraction on and off the field in each of the cities he has played in. In 2005, he was suspended for four games by the Eagles for conduct detrimental to the team.

Cerrato was director of player personnel with San Francisco in 1996 when the 49ers selected Owens in the third round of the NFL Draft.

The Cerrato-Owens connection has led to speculation that the Redskins would be interested in obtaining Owens. That is not the case, however.

ESPN also just reported that their sources confirmed that the Redskins have no interest. Thank God.

I'd like to go on record as to giving DS and VC credit for not going after T.O....
Let's just wait until he's signed with another team before we give them credit for not going after/wanting him.

I agree with an earlier poster that had mixed feelings about this. I in no way want him on the Skins, but at the same time, he'd be a HUGE help to this "offense" that Zorn installed. Then again, he's not the one throwing the ball, just the one catching it, 55% of the time.

Interesting line...I think Snyder wants him...It would not surprise me at all if he had it leaked that the Redskins were interested...to gauge fan reactions??

If the cap numbers work, SIGN T.O. IMMEDIATELY!!! (No, I am not joking)

As I listened (albeit briefly) to Redskins fans calling into Sportstalk complaining about T.O., it made me think "why not"?

The man is a bona fide talent.

He's better than any of our receivers on our roster.

Our front office ain't gettting any better at the F.O. thing. Why not try another experiment?

He would put butts in seats (you say no now, but wait 'til he scores two TDs in his first game). Fickle DC fans would worship T.O. after his frst stellar performance.

For Jerry, it was a shrewd marketing move, as he is about to open a brand new stadium, and the cutting Owens may somehow influence people to show up. For Danny, it would be a shrewd marketing move, as his team tanked last year, the down economy may cause people to turn in their tickets, and a T.O. signing on offense would be as big (if not bigger) a signing as Haynesworth's on defense was.

I mean...it's not like we have a "good" team right now. 8-8 = average. Plain and simple.

Signing T.O. doesn't guarantee a thing, but then again, does the Dirk Johnson signing do it for you?

...yes, I realize I was rambling. LOL

In this case, props are deserved and thusly bestowed.

Whew! :-$

Come on RIC here's your chance...might be a while before you get another one :D

OK, I will ... as soon as he signs with ANOTHER team.

I have seen smoke and mirrors before. Forgive me if I remain skeptical until he signs elsewhere.

I can't figure this out. If we're the only team that would take him, why would you offer so much money? Vet minimum seems good enough to me.

Absolutely not.

Some of you know Gibbs better than me following the team in the glory years... but Gibbs has worked with a lot worse in both the NFL and in NASCAR. It seems to me that Gibbs is a forgiving man who can see the good in people.

What has Owens really actually done that people object to? Some crazy end zone celebrations?

So what if he "clashed" with McNabb (high maintenance) or Jeff Garcia (little man's syndrome)? The guy is a legitimate NFL star who would instantly legitimize our offense.

Are you serious? Good thing you aren't running the Redskins. Even Snyder and Vinny know that signing TO would be a terrible idea. TO is a locker room cancer. Everywhere he goes he creates trouble and divides the locker room. In San Fran is was problems with Garcia, in Philly it was problems with McNabb, and in Dallas it was problems with Romo, Whitten, Jason Garrett, etc. The guy publicly berates his teammates on a regular basis and is far more concerned with his own stats than he is with his team winning. The guy was a headache for established qb's and head coaches like Parcells and Reid, how do you think he is going to do with an inexperienced hc like Zorn and a mediocre qb like JC?

There's little truth to any of that.

Also, I find the term "locker room cancer" to be extremely crude. We should all eliminate it from our vocabularies.

Why don't you enlighten the rest of us then.

I'm sure that TO is a model citizen and that that 49ers, Eagles, and Cowboys all got rid of him for no real reason. You're living in a fantasy world if you think that TO isn't a locker room cancer.

The idea of signing TO is intriguing ....

BUT, there is a reason why Vinny says they aren't interested. They KNOW he'd be a problem. I mean, REALLY!! T.O. whined about not getting the ball enough with Romo throwing.

With Campbell, it would take all of about 2-3 games (if that many) before all "heck" would break loose. Heck, the two of them might not make it through training camp. LOL

The whole idea is hilariously ridiculous.

Cerrato has already came out and said the Skins have no interest. The question is can DS resist?

My prediction is that Brett Farve and T.O. will unite to play on the Raiders.
